The hardest battle that I have beaten was that GilTurtle. He was goshdarn difficult I had to use lots of black magic to it.

Ranking among the hardest, in my opinion, were NeoExdeath, Atomos, and Necrophobia.

Edit
Oh my, how could I have forgotten a ton of the hardest bosses, even not including Omega and Shinryu?

Archaeoavis and SolCannon were also nasty pains in arses. Gilgame was unnecessarily tough, but I never bothered with that cave, so it didn't really matter.

The 6 x bombs fight was more annoying that tough, since they'd keep on Life-2-ing each other back up.

I'd say Byblos was hard, but Fire 2 (sword or not) wrecks him, so he's not too bad. There aren't really many tough bosses. I'd say Gilgame, but with 4 Black Mages with Fire Rings, you just alternate casting Ice 3 on him and Fire 3 on the entire party.

I'll list a few toughies, regardless of how easy they could be with the right strategies: Byblos, Gilgame, Neo-Exdeath, ArcheoAvis (if you can't heal fast enough, you lose), Sol Cannon.

Edit
Ahh, how could I forget Omega and Shinryuu? Good call, Cloud_Strife. thumbup.gif

You know, it's weird: I never really found Omega to be that difficult. Although, I did kind of abuse the Sorceror/Mystic Knight's abilities...

I hold that at lower levels (ie 30-50), Neo X-Death is harder than Omega or Shinryu…

Have you tried Omega or Shinryuu at lvls 30-50 though?
I think Shinryuu is harder because he doesn't have a weakness that can be exploited like Random Person said.

Yep, all you have to do is whore X-fight/2 weapons against either of them, so you beat them before they can cause too much damage. Neo X-Death on the other hand has an insane amount of HP, and the only practical way of defeating him quickly is with GP Rain. I had too re-start against Neo X-Death far more times than Omega or Shinryu.

And Shinryu does have a weakness: Dragon lances.

And getting all of them is a pain in the ass second only to the pink tail in FF4.

This is gonna sound ridiculous, but it was Catasthophe and AzulMagia....Catastrophe surprised me with his Gravity100/Earthquake combo, and Azulmagia had high defenses, and even more when he casted Guardian. I killed him throught Exploder..., though. tongue.gif

The hardest one for me was the bomb one (forget the name). It took me about 5 tries just to figure out what to do. mad.gif

Shinryuu and Atomos. Gilgame too, but since you fight him MORE than once, doesn`t count like a boss exactly.

I dunno... on my first play through Shoat kinda made me mad. Can't remember if I fought Shinryu or Omega, though I probably did. It's been so long since I've had enough patience to play too far into the game. We'll see how well my 4 thieves fair though.

A Beserked Shinryuu. Although I did it on purpose, I probably used about 50 pheonix downs cause he hit for about 7000 damage per hit, really fast. It wasn't a good idea. Omega was also pretty hard, and Neo-Ex Death is by far, one of the hardest boss battles, with Ultemecia comming in to a far second and Dark Cloud from FF3 with a distant third.

I found Gilgame pointlessly hard - I couldn't beat it even at Level 39! But hey I've heard that it's only high GP down there anyway....

I haven't bothered with Omega or Shinryuu as first I'm gonna complete levels to 99 (or 100 - well the max) and get all jobs mastered. But they sound really hard. As for Neo X-Death he was dissapointingly far too easy! I was a level 39 - 42 when I first bet him. And I only one samurai, a time mage, a mime, and a summoner!

The difficult of that game was far too small. At the start it is pretty hard though.

[/EDIT]Any hints on Gilgame... please. I'll tell you how to.... Uh... I'll think of something.

Gilgame is weak against Ice, so any high-levelled Ice attack, namely Ice 3 or Ice 3 Sword, will work nicely. You can have a few mages casting Ice 3 on him and a few more healing you, or you can have a few Mystic Knights with Ice 3 sword chopping away at him with others healing them. Of course, you could have just Black Mages and Mystic Knights and pray, but the former methods are far safer.
