That's the map from the Heroes of Ivalice game, which may or may not have come up if you Googled it. In the game, that was the travelling casino ship where Setzer (FFVI) made his appearance. In the actual game, it's nonexistant. tongue.gif

Actually, I can go ahead and speak on that. It isn't our map originally, it came from FFT Realm. Specifically, that's Murond Death City. What purpose it serves is utterly unknown, and, without a gameshark, probably unknowable. We just co-opted it wink.gif

And, as a note, Setzer hung out in Zirekile the whole game anyways.

Quote (Germonik Scriptures)
The Yudora Empire was afraid of Ajora who was gaining power, announcing the arrival of God's kingdom. Yudora sent troops against one of his sects. The priests of Fara, the largest sect then, were afraid of St. Ajora's power. He was caught and executed at Golgorand Execution grounds after Germonik told of his whereabouts for money.

But St. Ajora was a 'Child of God' and the priests of Fara were smitten by an angry God. After the execution, the base at Fara, Murond sunken by various natural disasters.

Yudora (Yudra in-game) is sort of like the progenitor to present-day kingdom of Lionel, so I guess it could make sense for it to be out there. I always considered Fara as a relatively distant place, maybe up in the North Loe or West Bugross...huh.

I'm guessing that gamesharking of kanji translation was involved in some way to figure out that it was placed out near Deep Dungeon? I've seriously never heard that it was shown on the map at any point, even outside of normal means.

On this note, have done some checking on this: If you translate the lettering on the map, it reveals Ordalia is the eastern part of the continent, and Romanda is in the south. That's working on memory, since the thread where we had translated all of this was deleted, as was Rofel's summoning circle, but, I'm reasonably certain of that. My own opinion is that they weren't thinking, really, when they put that dot there. Since I sure as heck can't find an explanation. Murond might work...if Murond Holy City wasn't on the other side of that gap

Romanda...in the south? Are you sure? Fort Zeakden was built on the Larner Channel as a defence against Romandan troops, and it's also said in-game that the channel separates Romanda from Ivalice. It always made sense to me that it was in the northwest, but I guess if Ordalia's in the lower eastern regions past Limberry, that could change things...I'm fairly sure the Romanda Gun's description places it in the north, too...

But, yeah, as far as that stray dot goes, I can't think of a reason why it would be there. Even the old Ivalician fables don't really seem to put it near Lionel or such. I'd always imagined that Murond was subterranean, myself, but that could just be due to all the battles taking place in underground locations.

Still kind of odd about Romanda, though.

Hmm, you're right about Romanda. I went back and found my source for that, and, well. Wildly inaccurate there. Checked other sources with a search for the channel, and that checked out. Good thing I haven't sent the PCs to Romanda yet in the game I'm GM'ing, cough....at least I got Ordalia right.

And, shrug. I still think that the game programmers weren't thinking when they located Murond Death City since, well. it was intended to be invisible at all times.
