So...Just what is Rydia wearing? Feel free to comment on both child and adult appearances.

well in her child form i see her wearing a cute dress with little sandals,
and for some odd reason, i see her wearing a bikini type thing with high-heeled boots and those things that yuna wears on her arms except green.

Yup. Child Rydia has a little girly dress on.

Adult Rydia has the Yuna thingies, green high heeled boots, and an extremely low cut dress with... um... a thong? as legholes. Yeah. Kinda like a one piece swim suit. Only as a dress.

Well, ok. It must've been from another site that I saw the thread then. But anyway my best guess is that the young Rydia is wearing some kind of dress or tunic and appears to be barefootwith anklets or something. Adult/older Rydia always looked like she wore a one piece swimsuit (why she would be wearing such a thing in battle is beyond me), a utility(?) belt, and kneehigh boots with little wings on them. For something like this, you really have to enlarge the image. Also, it's a lot easier to see when she raises her arms to cast a spell or when she's doing the end-of-battle-dance.

What I would like to know is what that pink dot is in her hair. I've always thought it was an earring until I looked closer. The only thing I can surmise from this now is what I've seen in the fanart pics of her with a rose in her hair. The only problem with this theory is that it looks like the image designer wanted to to be in a fairly square shape which everyone knows, roses are not. But then again, it could the the things that Chun-Li from Streetfighter has in her hair.

I'm surprised two people have mentioned one-piece swimsuit, which I actually didn't get the sense of (as opposed to Celes), but...yeah.

As for why: Two words: Celes Chere.

Wait...she came later. Maybe Rydia's where Celes got the idea. Although that's just more of the "why do female RPG characters wear unusually little clothing, even when the male character may be fully-decked in armor?".

Oh, I guess that also explains her defense stats.

I think we're starting to find a pattern here. If you look at Terra closely too, it appears that she is wearing one as well but with shoulderpads. I just never noticed it with Celes because it looked like they drew her so "well endowed" that you couldn't really see what else she might be wearing. And in the side view they didn't really have much more room for anything else. It's strange what you find when you take a closer look at these creations.

As far as following this pattern with other females from these games, Rosa appears to be a bit different. She looks like she's wearing those short shorts (no jokes here please) that were popular back in the 80's. I can't even speculate about her top though.

I guess it goes to show that our green haired Rydia has started a trend. By the way, you would have a hard time finding fan art that shows her wearing what it appears she wearing in the game. But I suppose that's all left to differing opinions.

I do not know why, but it looks like for Young rydia she is wearinga yellow cape (See my avatar), but that is me.

I think that's either a sash or a scarf.

As for the dot, it is indeed a rose. Shes seems to be wearing a scarf in the young pic.
