Finaly, I have a tendancy to amass quotes from obscure games and say then at random times. It is fun to watch other people's reactions while I start spouting diolouge from Chrono Trigger or something. biggrin.gif

Me too.

These days, people quote from four things:

1. Established, "scholarly" literature. This includes stuff like Shakespeare, Milton, blah, and blah.
2. Modern literature. This includes stuff like Catch-22, Memoirs of a Geisha, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
3. Movies.
4. Video game scripts.

I sometimes quote from (1), occasionally (but rarely) quote from (2), VERY rarely quote from (3), and often quote from (4).

The typical person sometimes quotes from (1), more often quotes from (2), quite often quotes from (3), and virtually never quotes from (4).

Figure out what happens.

I'd set up a ranking more like this:

1. Current events / historical quotes
2. "Classic" literature
3. Movies
4. Song lyrics
5. Television shows
6. "Modern" literature
7. Video game scripts

I think that video games are underrepresented in their influence on the mainstream, but fourth on a references list is pretty ridiculous. I've been known to call people "spoony bards" as a mock-insult before and "Am I a butterfly dreaming I'm a man, or a bowling ball dreaming I'm a plate of sashimi" is an inside joke between me and two of my friends, but saying that video games are quoted more often than TV quotes or song lyrics isn't realistic at all.

And to stay on-topic, I hum/beat/whistle video game music very often, and I've been known to keep such a death-grip on a controller when playing fighting games and action games that the small indentations of buttons and Nintendo symbols appear on my hands. I'll quote from video games or make other such references occasionally, but generally only with a crowd that could possibly understand them. Other than those and trash talking I really can't think of anything I do that's weird enough to post.

i save way too often and i blare music every single time i play any game so i get my family mad at me and therefore i try to avoid playing. games too often . and when i say i save too much i save 7 times before i will shut off the game of continue also i have a tendency to shake my leg my hands dont sweat but i have before and i will see video game characters while walking around sometimes. weird i know but it is also very funny.

many of you hum or sing music from those games you play but do you listen to them on your cd player and dont miss a beat.

me and my band (death's hand) have are able to play the music off of any game with guitars and drum's.

on RPGs I have a bad habit of goning straight ahead to all the levels and not fighting like on kingdom hearts I hardly ever fought I would just go and beaght the levels and I have tendesy to leave and not explore for any weopans or items.

OH, and for some reason I like to go out side and act out the last game I played like im one of the characters and when people see me I feel so stupid laugh.gif

The games that make me nervous (FFT) I tend to level up too much. Mastered calculator* before the Dorter Trade City? (Chapter 1) Then being like level 80 when I beat the game.

I tend to starve when engrossed in a good game. I may not eat for seven, eight, hell sometimes ten hours. Which is funnier because I'm well 'insulated.'

In fighting games, I tend to give help my opponent. Telling them unique things to watch out for when I play as a certain character. Fortunately, I tend to taunt and annoy them between these accidental tips. (Dr. Mario's neutral air A gets stronger the longer it's held out-SSBM)

Counting as part of the "annoying" subset, "addicting habbits":

When playing FFTA, after an initial run without much attention to details and being all confused as to how to access "advanced" character classes and whatnot, etc., on my second (current) playthrough, I decided to keep track of everything.

I now have four pieces of paper that list each of my 24 clan members. Name, species, character class (or intended character class), level, equipment in each slot (including blank slots), abilities, ability statuses (mastered or how many points so far), and 'equipped' skills (A, A, R, S, C). I also cross out a piece of equipment (but not yet erase it) if the character has finished learning the skill(s) taught by that piece of equipment. I used to keep track of JP as well, but not anymore. It was just too annoying an idea.

Holy crikey. Now that my computer's broken, I so want to play either some quick online multiplayer game (such as Bolo, or anything that's multiplayer in the Halo sense but is free and doesn't require paying for anything), or some 2D or 3D exploration game (a la Castlevania-/Metroid-style exploration), or some RPG-where-I-get-to-keep-track-of-a-ton-of-stuff.

FFTA has revealed my penchant for micromanagement.

I make up lyrics to battle music while playing. They don't make sense, they just insult the enemy.

Uh huh, I do that too. Like when I was on FF9 beating Kuja Trance: Ha ha Kuja/You're going down/You look like a girl/And you have stupid hair. Usually something like that. And of course I sing game music all the time - the worst offender is that f**king Triple Triad song. I can't really sing, but I'm like, 'Da da da da da da da da da da da da da' and if I've got the controller in my hands, I don't clap, I just kick the wall or something.

And, if I'm against a really hard boss, I swear like crazy. I gots a mouth like a sailor, I tells ya.

I'm a compulsive saver... If I open a treasure chest containing a Potion I'll save. This is funny when I'm in the Water Shrine or whatever it's called from FF1. It's like, 'Chest, start, save. Chest, start, save.'

I'm a big crybaby. I cry when i get angry and I cry at sad plot points. I tend to get frustrated very easily and instead of figuring out the puzzle, i look it up online.

i also tend to never fight the final battle. i'm not sure why. i play for over 100 hours on a game, to the point where everything is done and done exepct the last fight, but instead, i'll start something else. not too sure why. i guess i never want to officially finish a game.

I have a bad habbit of going in to battle unprepared i get way to cocky and over confident ending up dead after five hours of game play. I also have the tendency to laugh at every stupid joke it. I need to get out more.

Also, I'm a video game chicken. The shadow temple on LOZ OOT scares me to death. Just about anything can get me freaked out.

I see im not the only one who is scared of the shadow temple in OOT, but also another bad habit is not blink too when i play games as well.

I tend to be cruel with my opponents. What I mean by that is that I'm "toying" with them. Being sure that they will NEVER win agaisnt me when I gain the control, but not defeating them. It may be annoying, staying about an hour on the verge of death trying to survive so badly when your opponent knows he won't kill you because he's having so much fun seeing it's opponent being scared and all.

I also tend to love more the music than the game itself. I won't play the game with music, I'll listen music and play the game.

I chew on the movey, joystick PS2 paddle parts. You know, the ones coated in rubber.

And I also get all intense for a boss scene. I take like, five minutes casting Haste 2, Regen, Shell, Safe, Life 3, etc on all my characters. XD

one of my fondest memories is watching my friends mom play a racing game. she was 'steering' the controller, stomping her foot on the invisible pedals, and screaming like a maniac!

one other thing i do is not take the time to level up. it's mostly annoying to me, becuase whenever a big boss fight comes along, i end up slaughtered. if i'm lucky enough to barely survive that fight, the next group of monsters/fiends/baddies that follow end up killing me off quickly.

I often try too hard when playing games against friends and take the game too seriously and can get really frustrated if I lose too much. rolleyes.gif

Then I think afterwards, it's just a game! I laugh at my own foolishness!

I have been doing this far less lately, thankfully. I praise my opponent instead of being a child, lol. I feel embarrassed that I always had to be 'the best'.
