The worst thing in FFX is having to play the mini games. Does anyone have any tips on dodging 200 thunderbolts at Thunder Plains please this would be MUCH appreciated.

Take frequent breaks (it's just common sense), don't save (it resets the count), and mute it (use the flashing light to know when to tap the button)

Although I've never been able to do 200 straight without faltering, I've often found that doing them in intervals of ten and taking breaks frequently works. After awhile, your mind just gets numb from watching for the light flashes and you're bound to mess up. Also, use the menu as much as possible and try not to fight battles either (i.e. No Encounters), as the game can give you a cheap shot by doing a lightning bolt immediately after battle. Get rid of alll that extra junk you encounter and you'll have less things to worry about.

If you find an area you can put your back against the wall in you can stand there and do the task without random encounters or having to move. I used the little indent in the east wall in the first area.

I never did meet the 200 dodges. Got around 76 or so before I got hit, and man was I pissed. The advice you've been given on here is good, and really that's about all you can do. Good luck!

I just did this last night with no problems.

First of all, one of the best places to do this is directly north of the Al Bhed travel agency. There's another place somewhere else that lets you trap yourself against a wall so you don't constantly have to move back into place, but I like this place because there are absolutely no extraneous thunder noises.

Of course, you shouldn't be doing this based on the noise, anyway. You can even mute the game if you find the music distracting (but I found silence more distracting). Use the visual cue of a white flash across the whole screen. Also, if you're where I'm telling you to be, Tidus should be at the lower left part of the screen. Focus on the upper right part, where all you can really see is misty sky. That way, you're only looking for a single change, from one pretty monotonous backdrop to a completely white one. Looking at Tidus is really distracting.

And, like other people said, take breaks. I find that doing it for about five minutes at a time is a good amount for me.

In the place I described, you average about 15 dodges/minute. If counting distracts you, don't! Aim for about 250 lightning bolts to be on the safe side, or just do three sets of five minutes (which is what I did; I wound up with 233 before I quit). Get into a rhythm of dodge/move back into place. The lightning is pretty regular here; you'll get a lightning bolt, a pause, another bolt, another bolt, a pause...and then it repeats. (That might not be it exactly, but I definitely have a predictable pattern.)

Use no encounters for sure! Geosgaeno (Baaj temple) will occasionally drop a weapon with this attached (fight/reload until you get it if it's not too late), and I think there's another one in a chest near Djose temple.

I really didn't think that this was nearly as bad as that @#$% Chocobo race.

I've never gotten 200 on Lightning Dodger before, but from what many people say, it's not as hard as it seems. I think I only got about 50 or so the last time I really tried. xD

- Take coffee
- Turn off the lights
- Don't have ANYONE around
- Don't do this during a thunderstorm
- Don't count, you'll get nervous at the last thunderbolts and get hit; or loose count like I did
- Stay focus
- Take breaks every ~30-50 bolts

Doing this, I had to dodge a total of ~300 bolts before being able to get through 200 which isn't that bad.

^So soon? You're probably going to be stuck fighting enemies. Wait until you get the armor not to. -CSM

if you dont have no encounters, go to the northern part where the two paths merge. you get lightning in sets of two, but not quickly.....ZAP..............ZAP........ and a long pause so you can calm down and get a little refreshed. you get about 6 - 11 bolts in between each encounter. plus, everyone has their overdrive! thumbup.gif

Edit
sorry....i double posted
