I've been playing the GBA version for a while now, and it seems like Yang is overpowered. He has 4321 HP at level 49... he does as much damage as Cid, almost... but twice as fast. his strength is 98 at 49 with his weapon and armor bonuses. It seems like he's overpowered compared to the rest of the team.

Yang's definitely overpowered for awhile, as his Cave of Trials equipment turns him into a superbeast. However, his inability to equip shields (without losing a claw, that is) when you have the so-awesome-it's-broken Hero Shield around makes Cecil, Kain, and the four spellcasters even more unbalanced. Basically, the moral of the story is that some of the new equipment really makes the Lunar Ruins and Path to the Core way too easy (I'm looking at you, Abel Lance, Lightbringer, and Hero's Shield).

Does his HP still get stuck at 7000 or so... That's what someone did by leveling him (in II-US) around Fabul for days on end. Or did they fix that?

Nope, they don't. His HP growth stalls around 6000, but you can max him with apples if you're really determined to.
