hi im new and wanted to know what is the best item

the best I would say is Elixer it fully heals both magic and health

ya either elixir cause it fully restores, or remedy cause it cures most ailments (does the job of many of the other items) it Cures Poison, Darkness, Silence, Frog, Petrify, Sleep, Confusion

Well, if you factor in an item against instant abilities that work the same way, their usage goes down a bit (at least to me). Having said that, the Phoenix Down and Elixir are great for what they do, and in the cases which you use them, sometimes you can't wait for magic to be cast or for someone to walk over and waste a few turns on you.

The 100% success rate is good, though.

ya but he wasn't askin if items were better than other things, he was simply asking which item was best. that's why i say remedy cause it replaced many items

i would definitely have to say that the elixer is the best item in the game because of what it does

I would have to agree. Elixer is awesome at what it does, but...
you can't find but like 10 of them. Second is phoenix down and 3rd is X-potion or X-Ether.

Well you guys are right about elixir being better, but honestly, I think I've only used one or two ever since I've had FFT. I usually have a calculator or monk around to heal my guys up, so I never really needed em. But then again, I don't usually have a chemist with me anyway, so its a dumb argument on my part lol.
