December 2nd the sequel to Kingdom Hearts 2 comes out in stores. I don't know about everyone else, but I am psyched. I started playing Kingdom Hearts 1 with the suspicions of kiddy. I was completely blown away by an epic story. So I guess my real question is "Is anyone else as excited as I am?"

Let me put it this way: I reserved that game back in February.

I just can't get past the beginning of Kingdom Hearts. I can't make it off the island. I get bored too fast.

So, no, I'm not psyched at all, but the fact that everyone else is makes me want to give the game one more try.

I'm definatly psyched for the game. I just beat Kingdom Hearts: Chain Of Memories on GBA and it yet again adds to the awesome storyline. I'm especially excited that one of the new worlds for this game is the Pirates Of The Carribean world. Can you say Johnny Depp lovin'? No? Cuz I sure as hell can.
A bigger and badder colliseum and not to mention, a fullscale war against the heartless. I'm curious as to where they'll take the story next.

I really can't wait for this game to come out.

Hmm, looks like it could be pretty good, I hope it greatly improves on the first though. I shall reserve my judgement until I get a decent review of it, as I'm not sure wether I should be excited or not... the first was great fun, no doubt about it though.

Nope. Not at all. Much like Karasuman, I cannever really play past Destiny Island in the original, try as I may. The combat, and the game in general, just doesn't hold my interest. Disney-SE is all good, but I didn't like the inclusion of FF characters, atleast not so blatantly. It seemed almost gimmicky, to me. I've heard good things about the new themes and systems, but it's still not something that interests me in the slightest. I'd probably be more excited if I hadn't attempted to play the first one so often. Now there's nothing that could convince me to give the second one a shot.

I'm always reluctant to talk about how much I dislike that game, everyone seems to love it so. I feel like Gabe in that Penny Arcade strip where he's talking to two Kingdom Hearts fans.

I know exactly what you mean. The first time I played it, it felt like I was spending an eternity on a stupid little island with annoying kids. I gave the game another shot, though, and got completely addicted to it! The straight playthrough is a decent length, and there are plenty of extras and side quests to keep things interesting. Very highly recommended.

I never liked kingdom hearts. Gummy ship? Disney characters? Seemed like square had sold out to me.

I'm definately excited, as I enjoyed KH quite a bit. The idea of Square, who makes mostly serious-toned games, combining their style with Disney worlds and characters sounded awesome, and it was. The FF characters seemed like an afterthought, but I never really played the game for the FF characters anyway (although Cloud and Seph in the Colosseum was done well). The plot was suprisingly original, if not overly complex, and the gameplay was darn good as well. Sure, it was a button-masher, but it was a pretty well done button-masher nonetheless (and I was more magic-oriented anyway).

KH2 looks GREAT, mostly because the plot looks a lot darker than that of KH, and it has some deep ideas and themes (if you've seen the Deep Dive trailer, word that flash along with the numbers show this), such as the light/dark/twilight hearts to every person, memory, and whatnot (I'm a sucker for stuff involving memories). The gameplay looks like it's been greatly improved as well.

So yeah, I'll be picking this one up for sure.

For me, It depends. Kingdom Hearts had its Strong and Weak points.

For instance:
Possible spoilers: highlight to view

1)Cloud looks like a badass, but I beat him easy. And he gets stomped on by Cerberus, a Disney Cerberus at that...

2)Sephiroth's costume looked pretty stupid, but he is the toughest boss in that game. Thumbs up to that!

Just a fanboy syndrome.

The whole concept is weak to me. Disney doesn't have any business blazing trails into the realm of RPG's. It's akin to making a FPS with Mary-Kate and Ashley.

I couldn't have said it better. I just don't think the characters mix well enough to warrant such a venture. Though, maybe I'm wrong seeing as how most I've talked to seem to enjoy it quite a bit

I'd have said the same thing beside the Mary-Kate and Ashley thing because I don't know who they are...

I don't think the original game ever made sense at all, it was just like: Let's steal away FF characters and attract kids with them for our own ambitions.

It's not that I don't like disney, but they shouldn't "use" others compagnies for themselves.

It's not so much that, though... I mean, the companies are all about making money, so it makes sense to combine two best selling franchises into one mega-chise. (nice word, eh?)

The flaw in KH, though, isn't in the ambition of it... it's in the two franchises that were mixed. Totally. Un. Related. Not only did they mix vinegar and water for the core of the game, but then they strung it loosly together with bad storyline and gameplay.

If Disney wants to make an RPG, use it's own characters and own locales. Don't borrow from a respected RPG that is TOTALLY different in every way from them. I think that personally, Disney could make an engaging RPG of it's own without bastardizing the FF franchise.

Kingdom Hearts is like the Spice Girls of the video game industry.
