What would be the best game in the universe for you?
Specify everything, genre, gameplay, music, etc. I've been thinking of one since a few months: A RPG, I don't know yet about the story because I'm not the best at scenarios. Music would be available to mute/change any time during the game. As for battles, other battle themes would be available as you progress through the game (like Boss1 battle theme would be available after you beat that boss). Why? because I'm getting tired of the same old song again & again. I would want a new game + option but only having harder a harder mode, like in Legend of Mana but you wouldn't be able to go back to "normal". You'd be stuck on the mode. Level working RPG, but not for abilities. Abilities will be learned at at faster rate the higher your stats are for the specific ability. So the most powerful spells could be obtained very soon in the game but hardly because your Magic Power would be too low. Able to create custom spells abilities, combos, etc. For instance, if you want you could create a barrier of fire around an enemy so he can't move or would burn. Or making a combo with 2 warriors each of a different elemental attack to strike an enemy with lightning + water which would result in a damage increasement. Being able to hit fastly an enemy for high hitting rate and low damage which would be good as a finishing blow for an enemy with low defense. Of course, HP/HP reduction would be predeterminated in % of max HP/MP + ?. Let,s say you made an ability with 100% critical hit chance, your stamina would be reduced by let's say 20 and your speed bar will fill 50% slower until your next turn. Basicly, being able to do anything but not for free of course. 3D environment battle system with abilites that most RPG doesn't include: Teleporting evasion, flying to avoid being hit, battle permanent effects (if a meteor would fall down and create a crater, it wouldn't vanish and taht would create a disadvantage for you or your enemy. What would be yours? -------------------- Sayonara |

I 've always dreamed of a NARC game. You start by selling drugs, and rise to International Drug Lord, a Scarface type of game. I'd call it DRUGLORDS.

Two games:
One of them is the RPG I'm currently working on. It has a plot involving a resistance group battling an imperial power, trying to liberate their homeland. Many of the characters are based on real people I personally know. The gameplay should end up like an FF game, including skills, character classes, magic, items...hence, my name for it, Final Fantasy: Alternate Reality. It will even have arranged and/or remixed and/or ported music from existing games, including (but not limited to) FF games. The other is an action/adventure Metroid-like game with the protagonist being Seraph from this game. It's going to be based on my own story for that character. Yes, I know, I'm somewhat obsessed with that character. So? -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I have a few.
1. I'm not a big fan of MMORPGs, but it'd be interesting if there was one that had no NPCs. Stores would be run by players that went out to the wilderness, collected items or whatever, combined them, and sold them. The only available maps would have to be made by players who actually went out and tried to map different areas. There'd be some mechanism that would allow higher level players to venture farther out (probably just stronger monsters as you go). The idea's probably fundamentally flawed, but it'd still be interesting to see. 2. A completely open-ended and 3D (i.e. Morrowind-esque) remake of FFVI. 3. An RTS where you could send out massive armies and then take over single units and play as them. Something like a mix between Rise of Nations and Star Wars: Battlefront, only the idea's open to any genre (fantasy, sci-fi, historical, etc.) This post has been edited by sleipnir on 19th September 2005 16:24 -------------------- </technology> |

Dream game? Sure: Endless Saga.
It's pretty obvious that the game I'm programming would feature elements that make me tick. After all, who'd take the time and effort to make their own game and then include elements they hate in it? ![]() But Endless Saga isn't the only ace I have up my sleeve. I've had plans for an action/adventure side-scroller a-la Castlevania (the GBA ones, that is) called "Black Sun." Though I have no plans to even begin work on it until ES is completed, released, and bug-free, I've always been interested in making a game like that. I have no intention of putting as much effort into it as Endless Saga, however: ES is really my ultimate project, and everything else will pretty much pale in comparaison. You don't work on large-scale multi-year projects in your spare time very often in your life, after all. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

My dream game would be Endless Saga.
....unfortunately, RuneLancer already took that choice so I will change my answer. I cannot think of a dream game because two dream games already exist for me. The first is FFV, obviously. I have played that game for far more hours than any other game I have played, and I find it to be the most enjoyable. The second is Robotrek. I guess my dream game would be an extended version of Robotrek with more equipment and such, or a mix of the two games. Honestly, though, I am quite content with what's out there. RuneLancer, I've wanted to make a side-scrolling game for longer than you can imagine, but I never had the determination nor the expertise to make one. You're not alone, my friend. ![]() -------------------- Is PJ |

How about a game that makes Memory cards play a big role in some games other then saving. like some game's sequeal from a RPG can use weapons and items they got from the old games. now that would be fun. would it be strange to use powerful items at the begining of a game's sequeal? it would be like carrying one's stuff and pass it down to another's...

I am currently making a dream game called "The Magician." It is supposed to be half FF and half original about a treasure hunter who befriends a magician with amnesia, and traveling with a proffessional ninja and knight to go around the world and stop evil sorcerers and evil magician kings from terrorizing the world with destruction.. It is going to be made in a program named RPG Maker 2003. The plot to myself seems pretty cliche but still reasonable to the facts. I'm currently 35% done with it, I need to make more maps, monsters, rare items, and give more mini games to it..
Also my favorite idea for this is that I'm going to make human characters use magical abilities but not "Magic" command (like Fire 2, etc.), but use skills that has to do with the class. A "thief" gets to use the Morph command, which has a chance of transforming enemies into items (No damage, either death or miss, that's all ![]() By the way, when I finish the whole game, I might release it in the Creations section ![]() This post has been edited by NeoEx-Death on 19th September 2005 23:53 |

I'll post two quickies, that are much longer in description than the word "quickie" would lead you to believe. The first one is probably my "true" dream game that is more SoA fanservice than original ideas, while the second one is sort of based off some short stories that I wrote for my creative writing/AP English Language courses my junior and senior years in HS that I think would translate well to a game.
1. An action-RPG set in a world similar to Skies of Arcadia's (floating islands and flying ships, interactive sky-based world map) with a modern orchestral-rock soundtrack (which is common by today's standards, but SoA didn't have it so much) and focusing on the sailor/pirate life and the exploration of new lands as a central storyline theme. Basically Skies of Arcadia with a tricked-out action-oriented battle system, more electricity in the soundtrack, and all-new characters and storyline, of course. I'm thinking party based free combat, not unlike Tales of Symphonia or Star Ocean 3, but more variety and difficulty. ToS became a button-masher way too quickly and So3 had some real issues with customization system that I don't want to get into, but this game would have to have each character play TOTALLY differently for me to be satisfied, while still offering a good degree of balance. I'm talking different weapons, different styles, different special moves, different strategies, everything. Variety in battle system and customization system is paramount to an action-oriented RPG, and difference in character strategies, multiple playing modes (ie SoA's ship battles and deck battles and XG's Gear battles and non-Gear battles). SD3 was the last game that had it right, character-wise, IMHO. 2. A free-roaming 3D action game set in medieval Europe and with its protagist a member of the occult (a female witch would probably work best). She would be a moral, good person, aside from the fact that her practice of witchcraft labels her as inherently evil, while her adversaries (I'm thinking Church-sponsored witch hunters, angry townsfolk, maybe some corrupt and wealthy nobility) claim to be doing good in persecuting her but in truth have more skeletons in their respective closets than the entire supporting cast of Final Fantasy Tactics. Combat mechanics would basically be magic. I'm thinking conjuring/manipulation of elements, summoning/controlling familiars, some pre-prepared alchemical skills (whose ingredients you need to harvest), and some broom-based flying mechanics to help out with backtracking. Her adventure would probably be something not terribly out of the ordinary like stopping a demon's evil plot or saving a township or rescuing a lover (that much isn't that important to me), but the point is that the heroine is a good person and nobody else in the storyline, good or bad, will look beyond the fact that she's a witch. The character-interaction possibilities there are very intruiguing to me. -------------------- |

I'd post a PM instead, but this could apply to more than one person.
Caesar, once I finish ES, we'll talk. Maybe you could work with me on Black Sun. Maybe other people could too. CoN discussed making a game once but the idea never went anywhere; if we're all still around by late 2006 then there's always that option. ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |
