It is real in the sense that it exists in the Monster Database. It cannot be accessed by playing the game normally, but if you modify your ROM it is possible to fight the CzarDragon.
If I'm wrong, smack me upside the head. -------------------- I forgot what my Sig was going to be... Possibly something involving Pie... Hm... |

The Czar dragon is one of the few dummied out enemies in the game. They exist, the enemy graphics are there, it has stats, but the enemy AI isn't implemented (IIRC, it just attacks and does nothing else) and there's no way to encounter it through regular play. I don't believe there's an enemy formation that contains it, either, but I could be wrong.
To the casual game, no, it doesn't exist: you can't fight it in the game as such. To people who like to tweak things here and there, yes, it can be accessed. It just isn't ready for battle use. ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

They were probably going to have it in the game (it even came with battle dialogue after all), but due to time or size restraints, they were unable to finish it before releasing the game.

An SNES cartridge isn't as clean as, say, a Win32 game. That is, in a PC game, you'd have nice, individual, distinct files here and there containing data: bitmaps, wavs, binary data, executable files... But on a cartridge, you have a nice, blank sea of free space to fill in with data. As a result, code, graphics, sound, music, and data all get mixed up together. To avoid going mad, programmers organise these in various chunks ahead of time.
You might have something like this in a cartridge... D1:0000-D1:7FFF Enemy Graphics D1:8000-D1:81FF Enemy Palettes D1:8200-D1:8FFF Enemy Stats D1:9000-D1:BFFF Enemy AI Scripts D1:C000-D1:CFFF Enemy Formations/Encounter % D1:D000-.... Other data... Now, part of the team works on enemies, another part works on their graphics, another works on their sound effects, etc.. Meanwhile, management's sitting in its big comfy office and gives the schedule a peek. "Hur hur," says management, "Square wants us to finish the battle engine for next month. We're going to have to cut back." Management rings up the dev team and explains the situation. "Hey, y'know, let's cut out a few side-quests. That'll keep down the amount of enemies we have to put in there." "But sir," says the dev team, "we already have Czar Dragon!" "Oh," replies management, "well, is the side-quest ready?" The dev team shakes its head, much to the joy of management which exclaimes, "stop production on that dungeon." So, Czar Dragon's already in there. Well, why remove him? Maybe some time'll get freed up by the end of the schedule and, hey, we don't need the free space because we planned accordingly before entrying any data in the game! Czar remains, the deadlines fly by, and we're out of time... This happens a lot. Chrono Trigger had an ENTIRE DUNGEON dummied out, along with a handfull of songs. Many games have stuff like this. I believe Djibriel maintains a site with a handfull of dummied out things for FF6. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

So basically the czar dragon is a real weak enemy. I mean look at his defense, Hit Rate, and Strength. Pretty weak. just an enemy to me
