I just finished the first half

What's the best party for the second half?
Should I buy Zoneseek &/or Golem?
What's the best way to make GP?
Is there any place to obtain ONLY MP (no Exp)?

Thanks in advance wink.gif

(First half of the game, I presume?)
The best party is whatever you choose. A new person might, however, want Sabin, Edgar as a definite, the others are really up to your own style and taste.

Yes, buy Zoneseek and Golem. They are both helpful.

Best way to earn GP is to fight Cactaurs. Equip Setzer with Dice (you can buy them from Kohlingen), and go to the desert right out side of Maranda (I think). Cactaurs offer very good GP and MP.

And as for just MP, go to Fanatic's Tower: The enemies there can ONLY be defeated with magic (unless you cast beserk on yourself) but ONLY reward MP, which is what you're looking for.

1. What party?

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Well, the game can theoretically be completed by only three characters--Celes, Edgar, and Setzer--but I generally get all the characters. The party you use for side-quests can be pretty much any party, and for me, it is pretty much any party, but I usually design my parties carefully before going into Kefka's Tower. For each party, I have one strong magic user (Terra, Celes, or Strago), one hard-hitting attacker (such as Sabin, Edgar, or Gogo with Blitz, or maybe Shadow), and then the party containing Cyan gets at least one 'autopilot' character (Mog, Umaro, Gau).

2. Zoneseek and Golem?

Go ahead and buy them if you want. You can find out from the main site attached to these forums what each esper teaches, so judge for yourself if you want to use them to learn those spells, or if you want to use their esper magic.

3. Earning GP?

I don't really know, but I generally fight all the battles I get into, and I generally have enough GP.

4. Magic points without experience?

You can go to the Veldt, where no battles will get you any experience, but they'll still give you items and magic points. I don't know about the Fanatics' Tower idea that Locke_Cole suggests here, but maybe that also works.

Yep, it does. The Fanatic's Tower offers no experience, and magic point rewards of (IIRC) 5-10 points.

What follows is a spoiler about getting Bahamut (although you could also easily find this information in the database at http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/ ):

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
To get the Bahamut magicite, you'll have to chase down Doom Gaze. DG lies in wait at one point on the map, in the air; you'll have to run into that point in order to fight it. It might run away, but it never regains HP (unless you heal it, of course). It simply moves to another point on the map (again, randomly determined). You'll have to find that point on your airship, and then fight him, again. Defeating him using the Vanish/Doom cheat yields the magicite, but do NOT use Vanish/X-Zone, if I recall correctly.

Also, your party seems severely underleveled. My party was already over level 30 on average just at the Floating Continent!

You might want to wear good lightning protection for DG's windy attacks (I recall that bolt protection reduces or elimiates the damage). LVL 35 or higher should be more than sufficent to take him down.

Also, you might as well be patient, cause hes pretty hard to find after a battle.

Spoiler about battle strategy against Doom Gaze:

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Well, speaking of levels, definitely not level 35, or any level divisible by 5, since that'll induce bad results under L.5 Doom. If you have a team of differently leveled characters, with one or two susceptible to L.5 Doom, that's probably okay, but try not to do things like flying into battle with a party entirely at level 30, for example.

I think Doom Gaze is weak against Holy Magic, but try a weak cure first just in case.

You should try and find Gogo near the Triangle Island. Gogo is able to
use everyone specail skill such as Blitz, Runic, Magic, etc.

Also, if this is your first time playing WOR, you should find everyone. IT would help to have all your allies at the Kefka Tower.

DOn't forget Umaro in the CAVES OF NARSHE! cool.gif Make your way up the snow fields to the frozen esper. Beat it in battle to get it. Jump off the cliff behind it and follow the path. At the end, a sasquatch will attack you. Have mog in your party and beat it. After an amusing scene, he'll join you. You can't control him, but he's strong, and handy if you can find his special acceseries (Hint: One is in the Cave in the Veldt. It lets Umaro throw allies at monsters smile.gif )

Since he said it took him 45 minutes to defeat WrexSoul, I'd bet he's not planning on exploiting semi-bugs like Vanish/Doom.

Doom Gaze IS weak against Pearl-elemental attacks, so the Pearl spell or breaking Pearl Rods should work nicely (although the latter is kinda frowned upon in normal LLGs). Did you encounter Io in Cyan's Dream? If so, try to Leap one and have Gau rage Io: he'll null Doom Gaze's Aero and deal 9999 damage every time he uses Flare Star.

Using Runic/Wall Rings will protect against his Doom and Ice 3 spells, and if you a character with 128 % Mblock or more you've got nothing to worry about as he'll be invincible in the fight (unless his level is divisble by 5, in which case L. 5 Doom will get him/her).

Well then, summon Golem and Zone Seek to increase your defenses.

Also, go to Duncan's house and learn the BUM RUSH. Get Locke to open the doors in Narshe and get the Ragnarok ESPER so you can learn Ultima. Get the Cursed Shield as well. Travel to the Solitary Island and Uncursed the shield. Now equip the Paladin Shield with the Raganarok ESPER and you'll learn Ultima X2. Doom Gaze should be a walk in the park... I think!

Also, tip for WrexSoul, USE XZONE. It sucks in the SoulSavers and you win automatically b/c WrexSoul is absent from the field biggrin.gif

I hear this also helps against Hidon to get rid of the Hidonites, if you choose to fight him, however you may need more than one try at xzone to get them all. Suck in the hidonites, then Hidon will cast GrandTrain (Strago's ultimate lore). Then just Vanish/Doom him.

Finally, in the desert south of Maranda (i know this place was mentioned once, this is an extra little tidbit) The Cactrots not only give you 10,000 GP per battle, but also this place is prime for ANY magic learning, even Ultima. Also, the Hoovers which will come up also give you the same GP i believe. Stick to cactrots though, at low levels, the Hoover will totally own your face with Sand Storm and Crush in his arsenal.

One of the Hidonites is protected from ID attacks, so X-Zone won't work. Also, since Hidon is undead, Doom will just fully heal him. Vanish/Doom and the other incarnations of the trick is bug-exploit and therefor just kinda lame in general anyway; still, if you're adamant, Vanish/X-Zone and Vanish/Atom Edge or stuff like that will work

i was a crazy person when it came to levels so my ppl were lvl 50 and above (especially locke) when the world was changed/destroyed and i do believe that you have to kill a couple hoovers to get a cactrot to come, tho i may be mistaken, because evry time ive fought a cactrot, it appeared in battle directly after i killed the hoover

There's no Hoover-related factor in Cactrot's appearance.

Maybe this comes a little late, but my best advice for the second half of the game is to be militant about esper-leveling. Getting your stats high makes a big difference. Pay attention to when people are about to level and switch their espers right before to get the bonus. This is even easier once you have the Experience Egg, as you can swap it between people to ensure that two people don't get a level at the same time, which is especially important before you have any of the WoR espers. Zoneseek, Golem, and Bismarck give you +2 to stats that matter.
