OK, we've been getting nothing but rain here, so much so that KCMO is +7 inches above the rainfall total for the year (and for us here in Missouri, that's kind of unusual this late in August). It's cool outside, but the humidity is un-BEARABLE!!!!

Anyone else here getting wacky weather?

John: So you don't want your screen saver to come on for another four hours?
Me: Where does it say that?
John: Here where it was 240 minutes.
Me: Is that four hours?
John: Yeah, 60 X 4.
Me: Is that four hours, though?
John: ....They'll never take you back in school.

It's rained here all summer, too. I don't think a single month has gone by this season where showers and thunderstorms weren't in the forecast five or six days outta each week. Every year it seems if it's not a drought, it's too MUCH rainfall. Not sure how far above the average the total is now.

Dunno if this counts as "weather", but speak of the devil, a minor 3.8 earthquake happened here 'bout an hour ago. The epicenter was two counties over, but it shook things pretty hard here for a few seconds. First one that's registered in around seven or eight years in this area. It's considered a big deal here 'cause western NC lies directly on the once violent Charleston and New Madrid fault lines, meaning a whole mess of damage if the "big one" happens (talkin' central Tennessee might get a coastline then). Residents are bound to be jumpy 'cause of that, and the downside is it's liable to be front-page news for a week, bumping away all the other important and relevant newsworthy stuff.

Dang, I hate my newspaper.

Ummm....it's been a complete drought here the whole summer. Not as bad the past few weeks, but during the bulk it was dead grass and shriveled crops everywhere. I thought the whole country was going through a drought this summer? Meh, I can't complain. I still have Culligan water, and I've barely had to cut the grass at all. I'm not kidding, like 3 times all summer. Normally it's once a week. thumbup.gif

Well, I know of some people having unusual weather. Namely, all of central europe.

Also, Portugal is on fire, and most of southern europe experiencing drought.

However, the weather in Scotland? Not abnormal for summer. The rain is warm and that big yellow burny thing in the sky sometimes shows up.

The reason it's so rainy where I live is 'cause we keep getting the remnants of hurricanes/tropical storms that've hit the lower states. Not that such a thing is outta the ordinary, it just normally doesn't occur this often. Most of the plants in my "mini-garden" outside have died and molded from constant flooding. There'll likely be a drought here next summer; it tends to follow this kinda pattern, almanacs be damned! tongue.gif

Hrm... I don't believe we Canucks have had devastatingly bad weather. I know personaly, the only weather weirdness I've experienced lately is the tremendous drop in average temperature. It went from 30 degrees Celcius to around 15 in a matter of a few days. It's still freezing around here, which is peculiar for an Eastern Ontario late August.

I figure it'll get hot again as soon as we're all back in our A-C -less school.

The weather in Texas is the same hot it usually is (in fact, it's hotter now than it was in July), though we have been getting quite a bit of rain in the last couple of weeks. Lots of rain is never a good thing down here, as that makes the humidity skyrocket, making the heat nearly unbearable.

The weather's been kinda unusually cold at night for the summer around here in Connecticut. It sometimes gets down to the 50s (Fahrenheit), although the day usually brings 90s.

However, where I used to live, there's now hurricane Katrina.

We got probably 7 inches yesterday. And I'm not one to sympathize about humidity - whatever it is where you are, it's worse where I am.

Hurricane Katrina grazed the southern tip last night, but I'm far enough away that all I'm going to get is alot of rain for the next couple of days. Though today has been clear, so it may have turned earlier.

The weather has been very unusual for Calgary. We've had probably a week's total for summery days here. It's been very cold and ver rainy. It's the second time in the past century that the rivers flooded around here. It's been raining like crazy, and having half the month of August at 10 degrees celsius instead of 25 and up like I'm used to is pretty disappointing because our winters are so long.

But I remember in 2001 we had a severe drought here. it rained for one hour in the entire month of August, and the rest were completely cloudless 30 degree days. So I think that it's tough to gauge just how unusual cold wet weather really is. They've been saying that we've had above-average moisture here, but if you throw the drought years into the average, the mean gets skewered, and i'm not old enough to base judgements myself. All I know is that it ALWAYS snows on Halloween and the May long weekend. mad.gif Leaving no room to have fun! Though tenting in the snow is quite an adventure.

And I forgot earlier, but this is kinda appropriate now...
...my sympathies lie with those who have suffered through Katrina, especially those whose lives were nearly (and in probably more than a few cases, completely) swept away by the wind and/or by the water.

OMG, I can't believe how bad it's gotten. The levies broke during the night, and New Orleans is now 80% under water. The city is under Martial Law, with National Guard troops patrolling the streets. The Super Dome is the one safe haven, despite the intense damage it's taken. The roof is falling apart. Some skyscrapers look like the OK City bombing. Not to mention Mississippi, and Alabama. I really hope anyone who has family down there is okay. My prayers go out to you.
