I've beaten Omega with normal weapons (though luck did play a part), but when I tried to beat him with Bolt3 Sword my attacks healed him even though many different sources say that using it works - am I crazy or has anyone else had this problem? This was on the Anthology version (PSX).

I don't see why it would heal him. I used Bolt3 Sword and it dealt heavy damage. The only thing I can see that might be happening is that you're using a sword with elemental attributes like Excalibur or the Air Lancet.

You're probably right about that, I was only able to attack him once (with one character) with Sshot and 2-Swords (Bolt3), after that I was toast, so I don't know if my other characters would have damaged it with Bolt 3 Sword. I think I'll try it again.

Just for the record on this old topic: when casting a Sword magic spell on an elemental sword, the initial element of that sword is lost is favor of the new element. This goes for elemental spells only, ofcourse.
I have no idea why Omega would be healed like that. !Sshot rules out the attached spell anyway, so that would open the possibility of Omega absorbing the initial element of that sword. Pretty large possibility in the first place, as Omega absorbs all the seven elements besides Lightning. I'd say that you had the Excalibur equipped. -------------------- |

Luck is often the only way to beat him unless you're at a higher level (50+).

Love Song reduces his hits, but it wears off faster then anything that has ever worn out every before. Even with three characters using it he still can get in a hit.
Equip FlameRings. !Sshot and applying Bolt3 to your sword are usefull tactics. Combining them won't work. Omega absorbs everything but lightning-elemental attacks and has a permanent Wall status. -------------------- |

IIRC, there is a combo which makes you invincible,, by summoning 2 things, then mimicing every turn. Its Golem, and... something.

Would you mind checking into this? I can't think of any sure-fire way to be invincible against Omega, since he hits you with powerful physical, magical, and status changing attacks? -------------------- Don't worry, I'm not going to garrote you. |

Omega:
Attack: Randomly choose between: Atomic Ray, Delta Attack, Blaster Surge Beam Randomly choose between: Rainbow Wind, Burn Ray, Atomic Ray Surge Beam Randomly choose between: No interruption Randomly choose between: Delta Attack, Blaster, Surge Beam Randomly choose between: Maelstrom, Quake, Rainbow Wind Targetting Randomly choose between: Rainbow Wind, Burn Ray, Atomic Ray Surge Beam End first wave of attacks, start over If monster has been damaged: Attack: Randomly choose between: No interruption Randomly choose between: Rocket Punch, Rocket Punch, Mustard Bomb Randomly choose between: Rocket Punch, Rocket Punch, Encircle End As you can see, Omega never attacks physically. Golem is a useless summon in this battle. Let's go with Carbuncle instead, since Atomic Ray and Delta Attack will get Reflected. Let's imagine our party with Float beforehand (for Quake), FlameRings equipped and with Ribbons (Rainbow Wind, though they do not protect against HP Leak) Attacks like Mustard Bomb, Surge Beam, Encircle, Rocket Punch and Maelstrom cannot be protected against. So to finish this: There's no way to be protected against all attacks. -------------------- |

few problems...
for one, omega is 3vil beyond 3vil... i'm lvl 59 all around with 84 hours and all jobs mastered. (i didnt go that far into the nzone.... i mastered classes at the waterfall) main problem is omega... im not even sure i want to defeat him. not sure if hes worth it. shinryu was beyond ez. coral rings took him out... main prob with omega is that my ribbons dont seem to prevent against confusion. blaster is reflectable... so is atom ray-- and you all say delta is... my setup is anti-mp usage at the moment... sshot + 2handed with ragnarok/masamune/enchant/enchant guess if i knew his total hp... or what he gave me... i'd step up and knock him out. |

Seeing as he gives you *nothing*, might want to re-consider fighting him.
But still, there's no tricky way to kill him guy. Use strategies mentioned here. You should be fine if luck is on your side. -------------------- |

Love song works?..My strategies against him, is using White Wind( Omega uses Beam Cannon, so I got healed), then a Quick spell, which gives two turns in a row, first turn I cast Haste2, second turn I use !Mix and mix a Dragon Fang+tonic to get a Dragon Power on a Sorcecer, or Dancer ( equipped with Prism Dress to raise to probabilities to get Sword Dance ) to increase my level. Then a white mage with RedX2 command, which allow me to cast two cure3, or an Arise spell. Then I go with Sword Dance ( equipped with a Masamune and Brave Blade) and he loses around 10000 HP, he counter...I suffer its wrath, and then cast Quick again, If someone died...I mix Phoenix down with a tonic, and resurrect someone to its full HP, if not I heal with two elixirs.

I killed Omega after about 15 tries with level 50 characters, mainly cause I was lucky. I only had certain jobs for each character, so I made Butz a unemployed person (jobless) with Magic Sword, X-Fight, Two Hands, Restless with Ragnarok and Excalibur. I also have faris unemployed with Mime, 2 Hiryuu lances, XFight, Restlessness, and Two Hands. I have thw other two as support, first I cast Big Guard and then I cast Fast2. Each having Fire Rings or Flame Shields, I have Butz do Magic Sword + Flare and I have Faris attack, then Butz. This mainly depends on who Omega encircles, cause if he encircles Butz or Faris, its game over. I was able to kill him with a weak Butz and everyone else dead.
NOTE: you can beserk Shinryuu for those Samurai-Dodge and Ninja/Image people. :-D. I beat him level at lvl 40. -------------------- Who is Byblos? |

Quote (wayward @ 30th July 2004 16:53) shinryu was beyond ez. coral rings took him out... Hey, I take offense at that! ![]() Anyway, although this thread is kinda old, I wanted to share my strategy for beating Omega. So... First off, I beat Omega after Shinryuu, so this guide will expect that you have also killed Shinryuu. First off, at least 2 characters should have mastered Ninja, Archer, and Magic Swordsman. Make them Suppins. Give them the abilities "Magic Sword lvl. 5/6" and "X-Fight." Give each two Magic Sword-able weapons. Your other characters (at least 1) should be Mimics with the abilities: "White Magic lvl. 6," "Effect Magic lvl. 6," and "X-Magic." This makes them formidable healers, capaple of reviving everyone, healing over 9999 to all, etc. Once in battle, have your suppins use "Bolt 3 Sword." Keeping your healer/s ready to heal. Don't bother with attack magic, because it will either be reflected or do next to nothing. When your Suppins get their next turn use X-Fight. When I had Butz with Ragnarok and Excalibur do this, he 9999 a hit. Omega will fall like... some... easily-fallen... thing. Yeah, that's the ticket. Omega will give you the Omega Medal to prove his downfall. This post has been edited by Shinryu on 12th August 2005 01:50 |

Two hands and Bolt3 sword it's too much for Omega. That's why I use Bolt3 Sword with !SShot. Also someone tried to throw him some weapons?, I think no.

Did you know that Suppins get all the passive abilities of classes they've mastered? If Two Hands is an innate ability that you don't have to use space to use, why not?
8 attacks > 4 attacks And Shinryuu was a wuss. He never even touched me except for the Tidal Wave at the beginning. |

Omega isn't really hard at all unless you're doing a difficult SCC (Berserker, for one). You can beat him with 4 Bards easily, and same goes for 4 Dancers. Love Song stops him, so get 2-3 Bards singing Love Song every turn (forgot if it is constant or not), and the remaining Bards boosting the heck out of your stats. Dancers can use !Flirt, or so I imagine, since it does the same as Love Song.
For me, using !SShot and !Sword is a last resort, since I think it's cheap and takes all the fun out of the game. Which is why I haven't done the Archer SCC yet, and why I was so glad to get the Mystic Knight SCC out of the way. It certainly does work, though. -------------------- Is PJ |
