Velius because of Cyclops with Short Charge and his 3 Archaid Demons....
I think that answer will be the one that will come out the most. Am I not right? Edit Sorry Blizzard_Wizard8, it was 3 Archaid Demons not 4 Ultima Demons This post has been edited by Zodiac on 2nd July 2005 17:14 -------------------- Sayonara |

Velius is nasty, unless you use a few nasty tricks yourself.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view Starting with Rad (or any male of the same Zodiac sign, forget what it is), make a Ninja with +AT gear, Battle Skill (for Magic Break), Attack UP, counter of your choice, and Move+3. This is a good character to have around anyways, but I digress. He'll be able to get beside/behind Velius, for a ~88% chance to break MP with each sword. If both connect -- and they should -- Clops is out. There's still Seal, but that's easily taken care of by equipping your team with Jade Armlets prior to the battle. With no MP and no petrification, Velius' power is much reduced. Still not an easy battle, but nowhere near as difficult. Overall, I think the worst is Elmdor when he's with the assassins. It *could* be an easy battle with a few well-placed Holy spells, but then you miss out on all that equipment... -------------------- Wasabi Viniagrette: Mix 1/3 C rice vinegar, 2 Tbsp sesame oil, and 2 tsp powdered wasabi. Worst? Does that mean the hardest to fight or the most pitiful?
Hardest - Velius I mean, he might have been uber-hard when you played through Riovanes with no idea how to counter his techniques, but after three or four playthroughs, he isn't that hard. I'd still put that he is the hardest fight in the game, though, just because the fight is doubly difficult occasionally. After Riovanes, the game's boss-fight denouement begins. Easiest - Queklain The first and second Gafgarion battles weren't even as easy as this. The first time through you may hit a rut; the second time, you probably know enough to buy five Defense Rings (Null: Sleep, Death Sentence) and you'll cruise through the battle, striking Queklain repeatedly as he casts his variants of Bio. Queklain = Failure to post a challenge Maybe it's a cinch because you're not swarmed with other enemies, I don't know. He's never presented that much of a challenge to me. I'd actually fear if someone was forced to restart after saving the file following the Lionel Gate battle. I s'pose it could happen if it was a horribly under-leveled file. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

Velius was definitely the hardest. I think I had to start totally over again, or else just barely slipped past him one time out of sheer luck, prolly after 30 losses or so.
Otherwise my vote for worst would go to bloody angel (last boss) because a last boss should be difficult. The worst he could do against you was that Grand Cross that gave off every single status ailment, but other than that he was just a punchin bag for your overly developed death squad. -------------------- An Eternity To Man Is But A Moment To God |

I think that the hardest boss is Wiegraf one on one, as he is esay if you know its coming, but it takes some specific strategic thinking in terms of what you do with Ramza.
I agree that the final Boss is the most dissapointing in the game- far too easy, when you have a party full of beefcakes. I'd like to have seen a one on one battle Ramza vs the final boss. Maybe against Delita, how sweet would that have been? |

I would say Elmdor and his assassins. The assassins could be easily taken out with certain characters and a Holy spell or two would do away with Elmdor in a cinch, but learning Ultima and/or stealing the Genji equipment and Masamune while fending off the Blood Suck, Charm, Stop, and Instant Death statuses without the proper equipment on you is just torture. Velius would take second place for me because of Cyclops and the 4 Archaic Demons, but as previously mentioned, if you know what you're doing, it isn't as hard, but not that easy, either. I got by with sheer luck on my last Velius battle and this is my first time attempting to steal Marquis Elmdor's equipment.

Zalera, the Angel of "Death"...he's too easy, besides all his lackeys are zombies, a phoenix down, or CT5 Cure3 send them to "hell"...If you keep him alive he got some strange magics like Flare2 ...still he's too easy to defeat. The Hardest is Velius, the first time I played FFT, Wiegraf was Invincible for me, I ended up killing him with a Chemist equipped with a gun. (????!)...an after I win, it comes the absolute terror, Velius...the ultimate zodiac demon...that son of a "submariner"...(FFVI fans will catch that joke..)

Worst, as in Hardest: Wiegraf, one on one
The first time through, he's pretty tough Worst, as in Easiest: Zalmo (outside zeltennia church) Delita is with you and he ends up just smacking him once and almost killing him (or even killing him outright), he's a total wuss |

Velius and Elmdor were the hardest bosses for me as I had to stay alive against Elmdor to get Ultima and Velius was just the hardest boss in the game. Short Charge + Cyclops + 4 Ultima Demons(?) = True Boss Battle... Anyways, the one battle that always made me start over was the Execution Site. I hate that place because I lost Mustadio there once and couldn't get Worker 8, Reis or Beowulf. I didn't much care for Cloud, as he's useless...

Oh man its been a bit since I played this, but I remembered this one battle, its with the brother and sister, adn the brother goes on the roof to do something, and the sister is on the roof or something, and the bro gets knocked out and you have to save the sister from the assassins. Well some part of me left her uneqipped with anything and she got owned SO FAST, even th ough I had a chocobo for its speed....I had to restart my WHOLE game for that

That's the battle that takes place right after the Wiegraf/Velius fight. That can be kind of hard if you have a bunch of slow characters. Good thing all you need to do is put an Assassin in critical to win.

Good thing all you need to do is put an Assassin in critical to win. If Rafa were any useful, that fight would be easy. Hardest boss that comes to mind is... what's his name, the dragoon; Izlude's... son or something? Or something like that. Having some guy who can leap across the library to pound my mage into a fine pulp made the fight difficult for me, since I always try to keep everyone alive by the end. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Most difficult? People really seem to like giving Velius all the credit, but everyone who knows he's coming trains proportionally to overcome the challenge. However, the guy I always have the most trouble with is Wiegraf, circa Chaper One.
During Chapter One, your options for training are severely limited, since the items you need in order to use the best classes aren't available yet. Even Ninjas are fairly useless, because the best knife available at that point is the Mage Masher. The best bet is really magic, but Wiegraf's buddies make a Mage's life hell in the Windmill Shed battle. So you end up with a poorly-equipped, low-leveled party of mostly Knights and Wizards against Wiegraf, a Yellow Chocobo, and a couplea Monks. It's the first time you're up against anyone with a special Job, and White Knights have awesome stats. All but one member of my party usually dies before Wiegraf takes enough damage to go critical and teleport out. -------------------- I can't think of anything to say, really, except... I think it's nice... Ha ha ha! |

You really have that much trouble with him on chapter 1? All you have to do is learn equip armor for ramza make him a monk , level him to about 8 or 9 and wiegraf is pretty easy espically if the rest of your team is wizards, time mages, priests or summoners because they can hit from afar will ramza pounds wiegraf up close.
A good thing to do also is to just go for wiegraf because his buddies are just a blockade keeping you from inflicting damage on wiegraf, just ignore them. -------------------- "To be forgotten is worst than death." Freya , FF9 "How do you prove that you exist...? Maybe we dont exist." Vivi, FF9 |

I thought the worst boss was the fight with Wiegraf (the duel). Well, actually, that's my friend's. He hated that fight, and had to restart his file because he couldn't win. I'll have to agree (though I had no trouble), simply because the possibilty is there.

If you know what's coming up, then every battle is easy as pie. However... the most difficult in my opinion is Elmdor and the 2 assassins, not because its a tough fight, but becuase its tough to steal all that genji gear, learn ultima, and not have anyone turn into a crystal.
I just got done with the solo ramza challenge, and the only 2 battles that gave me any real trouble were the first and the last. Gariland magic city was tough with just ramza and delita, and the last boss was tough with just ramza and alma. I did however attempt a few times to steal the genji gear, and got slaughtered each time... lost cause in my opinion. Maybe I just didn't try enough :blank: :steal: combinations. -------------------- To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research. - Steven Wright It doesn't matter what temperature the room is, it's always room temperature http://ogame.org cool online galactic empire game |

Ugh. I hate Wiegraf when he uses the zodiac stone when it's one-on-one, then team. Also, Gafgarion is just a bastard, singling out Ramza.

Wiegraf isn't really that hard..
you guys are just not thinking clearly. Why do you think the game is called Tactics? For a easy win against wiegraf in riovanes, just equip ramza with the abilities below and dump out all curative items like potions and high potions then buy like 20 x-potions. Job: Squire Primary: Guts Secondary: Item Reaction: Auto-Potion Support: Concentrate Movement: Move+2 or +3 First turn, yell ramza to increase his speed then run far away as you can from wiegraf. Wiegraf cannot reach you with his lightning stab yet, so your safe. Keep yelling and running away each turn you get. Pretty soon, you'll be getting 3-4 turns to wiegraf's one turn. Then start accumulating. Don't worry about wiegraf hitting you, ramza will auto-potion himself each time, healing 150-200 hp. Once your power is like 20+, attack wiegraf. You should do like 200 damage and you wont miss with concentrate. With the speed increment, you should be able to attack twice or even three times in a row. After he goes velius, stay with him, like to his side. Your speed and power increments will stay and all you have to do is continue whacking him with your free turns till he dies. [I went 4 turns in a row after wiegraf went velius..... i pwned him ^^.] His archiac demons wont even touch you and not even your men will get a turn. It takes a while, but its better than resetting..right? -------------------- "You say life is sacred, makes you feel noble. Well, then let me ask you this. Zalera, Angel of Death. He's both the most difficult and the stupidest looking. The Velius battle's really not hard, as long as you know it's coming and prepare for it(can you asy Auto-Potion?). Zalera, however, you are swarmed to death, you have skeletons in back, knights in front, and statii hitting you in the face, not to mention Meliadoul being a liability since she attacks the skeletons.

Elmdor at Limberry castle. That is my #1 battle of constant reset...dealing with blood suck, Celia and Lede and their annoying shadow stitch and that stop bracelet thingy. You get the Genji stuff and Masamune which is a worthwhile reward even though getting them is suck a friggin' headache.
