I downloaded the rom in 2004 of May. When school was out, I was going to buy a new FFVII, but FFAnthology caught my eye and I played FFV first

1995!
Got it for my 14th. birthday! thanks, mom. From that day and for the next 3 months I took all my meals in my room (with my super NES), my grades suffered, I slept very little and neglected my family and friends, besides my friend Lewis who was also an RPG fiend...ahh, those were the days. I haven't played it in about a year or so but am thinking of picking it up for a seemingly millionth playthrough. I see that '98 and '02 weren't good years for FFVI ![]() This post has been edited by GooseKnight on 7th August 2005 22:11 -------------------- "You broke my f***ing sitar, mother f***er." -Anton A. 1995 babeeee! I'm old school. I'm so old school, I'm ancient!
No, but seriously, I got a SNES for my 14th birthday in 1995. My parents bought it used from my sister's boyfriend, and he threw in FF2, Lagoon, SoulBlazer, and Zombies Ate my Neighbors! I read all the boxes, and thought Lagoon sounded the best (it was actually horrible) and that FF2 sounded the worst. I mean come on, it was talking about being an airship pilot or something, which didn't appeal much to my 14 year old self. Soul Blazer was awesome too, and Zombies is crazy fun (I wish I knew where that game was!) Anyway, a friend came over and saw FF2 and said, "Hey, there's a new one, FF3, wanna borrow it?" And that's the story of how I met Locke & Co. ![]() -------------------- Kupo! |

I think I started either in '96 or '97 when my friend let me borrow it.

Oh god, this is the memory lane...
I honestly can't remember. I know I got my copy second-hand, but for the life of me, I can't remember when. It must have been before FFVII, though, so '96 or earlier. I'd hazard saying '95 would be the year, but I couldn't remember for sure. And don't get me started on how many times I've played it. ![]() |

I first rented it from Hollywood Video back in '95 when it came out and kept renting it for the better time of a month-and-a-half and then my parents buy me the game at random when I get home from school one day.
I have the ports on PSone since all my SNES carts' internal batteries have died and can no longer save. |

Got it the day it came out, in 1994. Had to drive to this little game shop miles away, because every other place was sold out. My buddy and I had played through FFI and FFIV together (and made home movie versions of them), so we were thrilled to pick up this one. Little did we know it would be the best of the series!
I still remember opening the manual for the first time, seeing Amano's art. Wow. |

I believe I started playing FFVI the same year I started playin consol RPGs in general, which was '96. A friend o' mine recommended it so I rented it. Don't think I actually owned it, though, til 2000. I still play the game off and on

I first played it in 2001, but I voted 2004 because that is when I got a hold of a rom. I would get it for my SNES if it still worked. (When I was younger I banged the games in instead of pushing them in. It bent the clip inside the system.

I was in ninth grade back in 97 and found myself on that waiting period for FF 8. I just finished FF 7 and decided to play some other RPG's. I played Xenogears (LIKE FOR 90 HOURS!!) and FF 6, the rest is hystory!

Played it ever since i was 7 or 8, cant remember know.
We used to rent the Snes and Final Fantasy III (as it was known back then) back when tehy let you rent out consoles. Eventually we sold our NES and games in a yard sale just to buy it. Then it got traded for a playstation. Im both proud and sad to say this game has helped shape my life. Like MG, I first played it in '94, so I would've been almost 8 years old. I rented it from Adventure Time Video and never gave it back.

2002. Cruising through the Dutch version of high school back then, with a computer so crappy it couldn't handle the even remotely modern titles. It did have 1ntarwebs though, and so I heard about emulation.
There were commercials for a final fantasy game (FF IX ?) at the time, so I thought I might try to get me something like that for my Snes9x emulator. Strangely enough FF VI looked nothing like the FMV cutscenes from the commercials, but I played it all the way through. Funnily enough, I can't remember I specifically loved it at the time; it was the first story-driven game I ever played, I liked that. But besides that, I accepted it for what it was, and restarted at least twice before I gave the game's final boss the smackdown. Ever since then, I can't seem to get rid of living with FF VI ![]() This post has been edited by Djibriel on 2nd October 2005 17:54 -------------------- |

Quote (Radia @ 7th August 2005 00:17) Quote My dad said it came out in 1991... im confused It came out Autumn 1994. It came out 10.12.94 Anyways. I first saw the game from my friend who brought it over. It looked fun and I rented it for four months straight. I never could get past Vargas and I pretty much didn’t know how to work the system right so I was playing off the saved files from other people who rented the game. I finally got the game after my parents got the big hint that they should buy it after me constantly renting it was costing more then it would take to buy the game. I finally learned about the game and since I loved to run away from battles more then fight I made it harder on myself really. Thinking about it now, I still don’t really see any good leveling spots before the floating continent. When I was eleven, I finally learned of the dragon forest and I was able to finally had all my characters in there forties when going after Kefka which is a first. However, after getting a game genie I could never really play this game again without using enhancers. I don’t know why but I want to play this game again after all these years but I don’t know if I can. FFA is a poorly emulated version and even though I have it and have it beaten on my play station, I can’t really play that version since Squaresoft gave us poorly ported products. I’ve might emulate it but I use my computer more for bit torrents of new games but I really want to play FFV and FFVI again and Earthbound. -------------------- His Divine Shadow |

I started playing it in 1994, I was 13-14 then... It was my first FF game! I rented it over and over again and kept it for months and months on hand... and eventually my parents found out and I was in big trouble for the huge bills. XP
Then about 3 years ago I finally found Anthrology at a game store at the mall (I was searching everywhere for it) and I finally bought it. Then I lost it somewhere... and I just decided to download a Rom until I could find the stinking thing. XP |

Alas its been so recent, I'm such a newbie to the FF craze (though I did used to play the original FF on the NES back in 93 or so). I learned about FF2-6 sometime in early 2003, then downloaded an Emulator by summer of 2003. I found FF4, 5, 1, 2 and 3 relatively quickly, but wasn't able to find a copy of 6 until late 2003 (and didn't play it until early 2004.)
I never really bothered playing it extensively until just about a week ago, and now I've been scouring all the games in an attempt to complete as many FF games as possible. -------------------- I forgot what my Sig was going to be... Possibly something involving Pie... Hm... |

I don't think I started to really play it until I was about 9 or 10, which was '98.

I played it after my brother played it, but since I was too young at the time, I didn't do well. I don't remember much about it, but I remember being amazed by that one place in the forest with the reflection in the water
![]() Then I played it again in '00 or 01', got stuck at the boss in Cyans side quest in the WoR, then about 6 months afterwards I started playing it again and got past it, and beat the game. My characters where tough cookies afterwards since I tried to beat the boss by leveling the characters. ![]() It's actually good that I played most of the game when I was older, and especialy when I played it (I was in a fantasy, snes, classical music, and art kick all at once), as I played the game I found out about Amano. FFVI is really amazing. But for some reason FFIV's random encounter music is still what I think of when someone says FF random encounter music. I barely ever played the game (the graphics where too confusing), but I always watched my brother play. I watched him play VI too. |

Lets see..., if it wasn't for my dad, I wouldn't have ever gotten in my FF craze and he's old school. He don't like anything but FF Mystic Quest. I started playing FFVI in '96, so I was about 6 years old when I was introduced to this game. I finally beat it along with other FF games after '02. I beat FFVI in '04, and it took me soo long to beat it. It was such an enjoyable game, and still is an enjoyable game til this day.
