I have never really used Setzer, (though I like his style) because his slots were never useful to me. I vaguely understand that the game will correct your timing mistakes to help you get the easier attacks, but I don't know any tricks for the harder ones. Are there any?

Echo Screen is king, though if I want Bahamut, I usually try to set up two of them through an Imp spell.

You really should read the Slot guide anyway though, otherwise it's hard to understand what the hell I'm talking about. The guide, of course, is at my site (see sig).

I love using Slot, but it ralentized for almost everything! ( PSX version, or my PSX don't work that well...), well..having a diamond in your first slot, assures you , MOST OF THE TIME, having the three diamonds, by only pressing the button. , secondly a Chocobo in your first slot, that assures you three chocobos. For others , every "Simbol" has its secuence, so press 3 "simbols" before the one you want to have...it's hard to explain. I usually press at the very beginning to get the first Bahamut, then in second slot I count: "Bar", "Bar" and in the same period of time from Bar to Bar, I press again and get the second bahamut easily, the last Bahamut I press like I want a 7, and voilà. I get the third bahamut. ( most of the time, I get a seven...), for getting Bar its more easy, I press at the beginning , like bahamut but waiting a bit., then I press when I see a Bar, almost close to it its the second and I press, and then the same after the first Bar, I estimate its second appearance ( which it can be hard) and I get the third Bar .It's boring and pointless to continue with every simbol, so I'll resume what I said: estimate the period of appearances of the symbols. I usually cast "Sleep" rather than using a Echo screen before Slotting, but thats's other story...

Thanks a lot. So, what you mean is aim for the symbols just before the one I want, right?

Also, what's this about echo screens and sleeping? Is this a slotting bug I have not heard of?

in the final battle i started out with strago relm mog and setzer, and wound up beating the first form and moving onto the second battle

after putting mog in a dance i decided to use slot and just hit buttons randomly
what i got was an attack that zombified strago and mog (setzer and relm were unaffected via relics) well in the battle relm and setzer died and mog and strago kept on going being able to whail on the boss and not take and damage from
anything. especially mog using the same dance over and over again, well easiest boss battle in the whole game
too bad afterwards it just considered mog dead (health for strago and mog read 0)
and the next wave of characters came in

i still have no idea what slot combination i got though

They were zombified via Relic ring? If that's the case , you probably got Bar-Bar-Bar with Slot, which ramdomly summons a Esper ( Phoenix in that case) which cast Life in all characters, since they were zombies they died. On the topic: Using a Echo Screen is for not getting the Slot spinning ralentized, so you use a Echo screen , and in that little time the Slot is not becoming that slow with enemys/allies attacks. I use Sleep spell though.

Never mind Sleep. Echo Screen is the way to go.

There's no such thing worked up by Slot. Also, Phoenix doesn't kill zombies (an undead character is different from a character under the influence of Zombie); Zombies are just considered 'dead' and removed from the team when changing tiers.
