you're probably not timing it right
when the hand points to sabin(normally targets enemies, but for blitz it always points to sabin) is when you press left right left for pummel then hit confirm

that should work

Ya i had the same trouble and it was driving me nuts. then i tried it backwards from what the guide said and it worked. For future reference you can look up all of the blitz's that sabin knows in the game under skills/blitz. A little tip on that is that if there is a diagonal button to be pressed, you can press either up/down or left/right. for iinstance left, left, up, up, right, right, down is the same as doing a circle.

Took me 3 months to figure out how to blitz. At least I was level ~37 for Vargas on the first time that I beat him... =^-^=

I died the first time, because It's says that you have to do right, left, right command, but since Sabin were facing left, I though: Oh, then must be Right, Left, Right...sadly, I played too many 2d fighting games, and that's way I though it was like that...kupo

I had a FAQ showing me how to use Sabin Blitz, so it was very easy for me. The 2nd time i played Final Fantasy 6 I used a Pro Atcion Replay cheat to put me on level 99 and I had cheated by sing Sabin's Bum Rush.(Which kinda made me laugh why Terra, Locke, and Edgar couldn't kill Vargas at level 99, but Sabin is needed to beat Vergas or something)

Just look in skills for Sabin and check out his blitz command so you know what cordinates to punch in when your fighting with him. Use blitz and those pummel attacks and youll win

The problem is that the first time Sabin is introduced into your party, it's mid-battle. As such, you have no time to check the menu. Also, if you don't input the button combo correctly, you don't blitz him, and if you don't blitz him, you lose.

Try aurabolt instead: Hold (down) directional to to (left) directional, then A/circle. Just like a hadoken.

Uh, that is, if anyone is actually having trouble anymore.

Not against Vargas. Only Pummel will kill him automatically.

Almost forgot, if anyone is still having trouble, read this:

Yeah, use Pummel like everyone else said.. I recently checked his HP in the Bonus, and oh my Holy God, more than 10,000 HP! Imagine beating him without Pummel..

But I guess that will be very hard since he gives you the Condemned status.. But, if you get him to Level 99 , he should be no problem, atleast I think..

Sure... lets be lvl 99 in a part when you should be lvl 12.... Kinda like getting Lvl 99 in Destiny Islands in the game Kingdom Hearts.

Was the whole "blitz" thing really THAT hard to figure out? I got it on my second try, using no walkthrough or nuthin'! I just did what it said, chose blitz, put in combo, hit button. BAM!

I also like to bolt his aura, it is quite fun.

Blitz isn't hard at all. Heck, I figured out how to use it, first try, when I was friggin' six years old... No foolin'.

John: So you don't want your screen saver to come on for another four hours?
Me: Where does it say that?
John: Here where it was 240 minutes.
Me: Is that four hours?
John: Yeah, 60 X 4.
Me: Is that four hours, though?
John: ....They'll never take you back in school.

Thing about Blitz is its clear similarity to fighting game combos. First-time players often misinterpret the instructions and quickly glide over the D-pad (á la Street Fighter, etc.) when attempting Pummel or other commands rather than pressing each direction individually like intended. Also, right after selecting "Blitz", the cursor points to Sabin instead of the enemy, leading some people to think they have to confirm their selection by pressing the button again, resulting in them missing their chance to enter the combo and receiving the "incorrect input" message.

I don't remember ever having trouble with Blitz. I sometimes screw it up nowadays, but that's just 'cause the buttons on my SNES controller sometimes stick.

I don't actually think there is a difference between the two.

I don't actually think there is a difference between the two.

The only difference is when Cid dies, we get to see Celes 'suicidle' moment play out, and listen to her emotional music. If he doesn't die, we get the cheesey, all-of-the-sudden "Oh I feel so much better!" type thing.

Best let him die.
