I love both, and I'll check out both of them semi-regularly, but for phillies and meatball subs I go to a place called Ristorante San Vito, and if I'm at school then I'll sometimes hit Little John's for a hot pastrami on rye. I much prefer any good sandwich shop to most fast food, though, despite the typically higher prices. Everyone loves a good sandwich, so what's your preference?
Oh, and my preferred Subway sub is either a Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki with lettuce, onions, green peppers, provalone cheese, and sweet onion sauce or a Roasted Chicken sub with lettuce, onion, buffalo sauce, and jalapeno peppers. At Quiznos I either order a Mesquite Chicken with Bacon, a Chicken Carbonara, a Smoked Turkey, a Sierra Smoked Turkey, or a Double Angus Steak and Cheese. If I want a meatball sub, a phillie, or some bruschetta, then I go to San Vito. This post has been edited by laszlow on 27th July 2005 21:42 -------------------- |

I am Subway's personal bitch. Seriously.
I love Subway. I go there at least 3 times a week. On some occasions, I'll eat there for lunch and dinner in the same day. The food is great, the prices are modest (to some extent, you have to factor in price of your own food supplies and time if you say it's cheaper to make your own sandwich), and, at least is the case here, the people know what they're doing. And the variety is great. Now, Quiznos. I've eaten there 3 times, and have had bad experiences all 3 times, whether it was wrong ingredients on a sandwich, employees that were slower than dirt, or an 11 dollar cheese steak. Plus, they have the WAY overused ad gimmick in Baby Bob. I mean, I know we're all sick and tired of Jared, but come on, talking Baby Bob was dead back in the 90s, just let it go. -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

Subway.
We don't actually have a Quiznos, but nothing could be more perfect than Subway. For a while, I heard people, mainly Sabin, raving about Subway. I shrugged it off as a pleasure I would never enjoy. Then, one day, I was heading towards BlockBuster to pick up some second-hand DVDs and games, passing the Spar on the way. But it wasn't a Spar. It was a Subway. I just about fell to my knees and cast my gaze to the heavens right then and there. Common sense got the better of me, however, and I settled for just going in. I picked up a menu. I looked. I ordered a meatball marinara. Words could not describe just how much ass it kicked. You could choose the bread and everything. I love you, new Subway. |

I've only had Quiznos once, and the bread was stale. I used to eat at Subway pretty frequently, and their bread was never stale, so I guess I'll weigh in on the side of Subway.

Subway. My usual - toasted swiss cheese and salami sub - is one of my favorite things to stick in my mouth.
I've never actually eaten at Quiznos, but those I know who have don't really recommend it. All I know is they once had a TV ad that featured those singing rat-monkey things that originated in flash 'toons at Rathergood.com. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. SUBWAY! Quiznos is good and all, but they're WAY overpriced, and the employees are generally about as smart as a small soapdish.
Subway, on the other hand, is usually pretty quick, has GREAT prices, and they just added the toasting thing! I'll make my own frekin sandwich, thank you very much. Seriously, why go out and spend $5 on a sandwich you can make at home that tastes just as good, if not better, than what you get at either one of those places. I go to the store and I buy better quality meat, cheese, and bread than you find at these restaurants, and make it for less than a 1/3 of what they charge.
What's that? You like it toasted??? Go to Wal-Mart and get a toaster oven for thirty bucks. It's a worthwhile purchase, not just for sandwiches (hello leftover pizza). -------------------- "My impersonation of an ordinary person was flawless." - Neal "Don't cry because it's over. Subways.
Let's face it: some of us have jobs. And most of us with jobs don't work within walking distance of home (well, not reasonably so; I consider an hour away to be a reasonable walking distance but that doesn't make it so now, does it? ![]() This leads us to a situation with two solutions. 1- Make something to eat at home, carry it to work where it'll sit in your bag for 4-5 hours. 2- Eat a fresh meal for what's a relatively small amount of money (five bucks...) Frankly, eating a soggy, crushed, staling sandwich after having ripped handfulls of hair out by the root trying to fix an annoying bug is something that doesn't appeal to me much. I enjoy the walk to the local subways, the human interaction involved in creating a beast of a sandwich ("Yeah, more pickles... no, hold the mustard, just put some of the one over there- yeah- no, no, you went past it- that's the one... And some olives..."), and the fact my meal's fresh and satisfying. ![]() Subways is just a matter of preference; I'd eat from Quiznos, but I don't even think there are any here in Canada. We have a Subways competitor, Dagwood, but their bread is too dry and the selection somewhat more meager. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

I've never had quiznos, and subway doesn't have vegan bread, so I'd rather just make my own sandwiches.

Very few things satisfy me like a good 12 inch from Subway. Everything, and I mean everything, I've ever ordered from Subway has been great, and counting in the fact that some of my friends who work there get me free subs occasionally makes it even better. In fact, I feel like some right now.
As far as Quizno's goes, I don't really know what to say. I was there once, a while ago, and I honestly can't really remember how it was. I'm sure it was fine, but there just aren't enough around for me to go to them. What would you choose, a 5 minute drive to Subway for a guaranteed delicious experience, or hunting for a Quizno's where you don't even know what to expect. When it comes to food, I tend to stick with convenience. I ain't no Quizno's hater, I'm just a Subway lover. -------------------- I find your lack of faith disturbing... |

Um, what the heck is Quizno's?
![]() Anyway, Blimpie's trumps all. Oh, they are delicious. (Besides a sammich from your average family-run deli, of course, but that's self-evident.) I would eat at Subway every day of the week if I lived near one. Although my sandwich combinations are often bland and undeserving of quality ingredients (ham & mayo!?), I'd still pay seven bucks for someone else to make me one.
Their soup is pretty dang good as well. The only factor that would be liable to turn me against Subway is those stupid ads with their spokesperson Jared in them. Instead of refering to Subway as "Subway", he calls them "Subway restaurants" which, I think, is kind of weird. I could never betray Subway for Quizno's, though. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

Quote (Elena99 @ 27th July 2005 23:26) They don't have Quizno's in New York? It's like a subway sandwich chain. Like Subway, but not. And they have weird commercials, usually with a talking baby. They most certainly do - at least in White Plains and Manhattan, the only two cities where I've seen them (or even spent that much time in, lol) I agree that Quizno's is too expensive on some sandwiches, but some of their stuff is pretty affordable and good. Overall, though, I have to go with Subway because everything is cheap and there's a better variety for that money. The new Chicken Bacon Ranch is pretty sly. You pay for what you get, though. At least around here every Subway is staffed by complete idiots, many of whom have serious issues with their lovable second language, English; in many cases, they will simply be out of a garnish or sauce at any given time of the day. I'm generally too lazy to keep myself in exquisite sandwich materials at home, though, so Subway does have a tendency to win. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I'd say Subway only 'cuz I've never had Quizno's (the nearest Quizno's is a suburb or two away from home and Subway is right around the corner). Quizno's makes a big deal about their toasted sandwiches, but Subway's toasted subs are nothin' ta' sneeze at. They are delicious! I usually get either a Cold Cut Combo or a Toasted BLT. Mmmmm... one day I'll try Quizno's...

Subway. Not really a knock on Quizno's, I just think Subway has the better overall product. I don't really love anything at Quizno's like I love the Southwest Cheesesteak at Subway.
