Okay, this is just general information, but I would like to share it with anyone that doesn't know this. Alright, you know that island where you start out with Celes? Well, it has two enemies there in particular. Peepers and ErthGrd. There's also so giant undead skull dragon thing there, but just ignore that. Anyway, get Locke and Gogo, give Gogo steal, shove a thiefglove on one of 'em, and off ya go. Steal from the little buggers and see what you get it.

Peepers -> Elixers
Erthgrds (Found in the desert areas) -> Megalixers

Careful, though, you have to steal FAST. These things automatically kill themselves o.O Having a high level Gogo and Locke also help greatly. It's really difficult to steal these things in the first place.
As an added bonus, teach Gau the Erthgrd Rage and he can use Big Guard in battle.
Anyway, there's an infinite supply of Elixers or Megalixers for all who read. And also the items you bet with them.
Btw: Don't be a jerk about this info, if you already know it, good for you. If not, I give it to anyone with open arms. So don't sit there "omg I already knew that pfft". My response: Go increase your post count somewhere else.

Actually I didn't. Thanks for the info! Next time I play FFVI I'll be sure to remember that.

You can cast "Stop" on those enemies to keep them from dying. This gives you more opportunities to use the "Steal" command, thus maximizing your chances of snagging those valuable items.

I knew this myself, but that doesn't lessen my appreciation for a topic like this. It's still great info either way.

Are you sure stop works? I thought they died from an ever-consuming poison like the ones Night Shade has (I think... but I also believe that was SUPPOSED to heal it O.o)

Hmmm, maybe it has more to do with when they gain the ability to attack? (IE: When the enemy's bar meter fills) But I always thought it affected you like your characters (Periodically)

But, oh well. I'd suggest getting them in preemptives with the Gale Hairpin, perhaps put the running shoes on Locke to give him that extra chance to nail the sucker ohmy.gif

Keep at it though... I think the Megalixers are easier to steal for some reason O.o but that could be my luck lol ><

Question: For any of the people who have edited the game... what are the chances to steal the items?

Quoted from Terii Senshi's algorithms guide:
Quote

1. If the monster has no items, then you automatically fail to steal.

2. If your level is >= 205 (hacks only), you automatically steal.
  (Skip steps 3 through 7)

3. StealValue = Your Level + 50 - Monster's level

4. If StealValue < 0 then you fail to steal.

5. If StealValue >=128 then you automatically steal.  (Skip steps 6 and 7)

6. If you have a Sneak Ring equipped:
      StealValue = StealValue * 2

7. If StealValue <= [0..99] then you fail to steal.

8. You have 1 in 8 chance of getting a rare item; otherwise, you get a common
  item.

9. If the monster doesn't have an item to steal in that slot, then you fail to
  steal; otherwise, you successfully steal that item.

Notes: [0..99] means a randomly generated number from 0 to 99. Also, note step 9 in particular: If you successfully steal but the monster has nothing in the slot (the common steal slot, for example), then the other slot is automatically emptied as well, so you can't steal anything from it.

I think they take damage when their AT gauge fills up, because Stop has always worked for me. Maybe the duration of Stop has to do with the caster's magic power?

Yep, damage from poison or seizure (which in this case it's seizure) is considered self-damage as far as the game mechanics go. They happen at certain intervals in the AT gauge cycle. Stop actually stops the charging of the gauge (for a fixed amount of time), so it prevents the damaging from taking place.

Same would go for Regen except that it heals instead of hurts (obviously).

Stop does work, but I found a little problem about stealing, it's impossible to steal an elixir from a Peeper, if you already have one in slot 253-256 in your inventory..believe me, I tried stealing some remedy from a Crawler...and since it was in slot 253, I couldn't steal it by any cirscuntances. Since Battle items have 252 slots, Elixir or remedy wasn't able to select in the Battle item menu. So whatever you do , don't put your items below 252 slots and stealing would be fine. smile.gif

The elixers are nice, but don't forget in that you can have Relm sketch peepers to learn Pearl Wind and sketch Erthgrd to learn Big Guard, two of the more useful Lore spells in the game.
