Terra, her magic is at 128, and Morph makes it 256. Simply casting Fire does about 7000 damage when morphed. Max she can do is about 49,995 with Ultima (or Merton, Meteor, Quake) by doing this. (She has Economizer and Gem Box). She's also very fast, speed is about 100.

Ultima, Quick, Ultima, Ultima, Ultima, Ultima, repeat next turn.

Locke has a Genji Glove and 2 Wing Edges (cause of the +7 Speed on both hands). Although he's in my party, he's there to "treasure hunt" monsters.

Edgar is my third character, mainly cause of Air Anchor and Chain Saw.

The fourth character is either Celes or Sabin.

Who is Byblos?

shadows my best character. got him to level 99 (without codes, mind you) by using my emulators speed up function in the dinosaur forest

shadow had an illumina, force shield, with some other armor(cant remember the names...) with a ribbon and experience egg for relics. with him (just him alone ) as my party, it took not alot of time to level him up. (he is the best character, next to gogo, IMO) seriously, with illumina, ribbon, and force shield, plus the loyalty of interceptor, nothing touches my shadow

My favorite is Relm. It took a whole lot of esper work to get her to be any good though. I taught her all the magic though and got her to like level 60, which was pretty fun.

I also like Locke. First time I beat the game I was depending entirely on Jump with the Dragon Horn and the Ragnarok sword.

Well, physically, it'll probably be Locke for me very soon; he's at LV30 and his Vigor is about 62.

locke because he does over 9999 damage at every hit. sabin is good too his blitzes are just great! oh and they both are in my "super" party. all four 99 lvl without any codes

A hint for everyone who cares.

Did you know that Edgar can blast full forces of enemies for 9999 DMG each with his AutoCrossbow?
That's incredibly sweet, it's kind of like a free Ultima.

This is a really good thread for consulting on different character configurations.

For Magic, you can't beat Strago, albeit he may need a little help from Espers to get his magic up as high as Terra's. He has every spell in the game at his disposal.

Mine would definitely be Shadow or Sabin, more shadow, cuz he is just so cool, so i use him always. especially when interceptor...intercepts. and the things he can throw, usually are very powerful.

Locke is by far my favorite character, perhaps out of any FF game. His stealing ability has always been a favorite, especially once he gets a certain relic. After him, Terra and Celes are probably next in line.

all my chars are level 99
I level up chars one at a time fighting t-rexs so I can contol point disrobution from my espers...

However,

Terra has two atma weapons and the offering dealing out 9999*4 damage each turn...

If you have time to overtrain your characters to level 99, it doesn't really matter who they are, they'll kickass.

For my favourite character who isn't at level 99, and under level 60, it would be Sabin and Cyan, simply because they can dish out damage without relying on MP or anything, preferably Sabin, since SwdTech eats up some time. Otherwise, Locke and Gau are good. Mog, Edgar, and Setzer are fun to use sometimes. As for magic users, Terra and Strago is a given.

But overall, SAbin's tEh BeST!! BuM RuSHH 4 Ez DmG!

I use Shadow for his throws and his insane throw damage and his insane ninja skills. Ninja stars are so much cooler than Bum Dance.

You should think of wagering it for the Illumina in the Colloseum, it's the best weapon in the game!

For me must be Terra, I admit that it's a little cheesy but she is at Level 55, 105 Mag. Power, 127 MBlock (I won't waste a Relic slot for 1%), and knows every magic in the game, exept for Quick (too lazy).

For beeing less cheesy with this Tank I prohibited myself the use of Ultima, Merton, and other MASS destruction devices. However if I use Flare or Meteor is like the same now...

My best character is Terra, who has 255 magic with Morph, which doubles that, so fire does 9999 damage. With Quick and Gem Box, she does a total of 49,995 damage. But people can do more than that using the Offering and Genji Glove, by doing 9999 8 times.

not the best way to bring out characters' outstanding, individual qualities, but certainly a fun way to play the game.

Terra is by far my best character. A maxed out magic stat + Economizer + Magic box + Ultima. I win every time. Seriously, final Kefka was the easiest thing in the world!

My best is probably Sabin.Mash. This is because I'm not stupid, so I raised his Magic stat into the roof to take advantage of Bum Rush, and then I taught him all of the best spells. Plus, with his high Vigor he can still dish the physical pain and with his pretty high HP he can revive and cure other characters.

Besides that, I use Terra and Relm a lot.

Shadow. He's my favorite, and I always give him the best stuff.

Before I learned of the Super Mog trick, I'd say either Sabin, or Terra.

Sabin for the nice blitzes, and Terra for... well X magic, what else?

Actually, thinking about it, Celes might of been better with the Atma/Illumina combo and that whole genji glove and offering trick.

I'm not buyin' anythin'!

For me, my favourite and probably all-round best character is probably Celes. I've levelled her up keeping her stats reasonably balanced, but mainly focusing on speed and magic power. She has the Illumina, the Paladin Shield, an Economiser and a Ribbon. She doesn't focus on anything in particular, but fills in every gap, and falls last. (Well, they're all high level so nobody falls in normal play, but if I hack in a few of the superbosses some people have made, she falls last or doesn't fall at all.) Only character I made 128% M.Block for, kept it off the others to keep the game interesting.

That said, I have a ridiculous amount of fun with Mog, and in any one-on-one between the players, Mog would probably win. (Highest speed of anyone in my party, 106, built as a dragoon, and with 255 defence: very difficult to kill and deals 20,000-80,000 damage per round depending on whether Pearl casts and how many times he re-jumps.)

Terra's quadruple Ultimas at 5MP total cost (Economiser, Gem Box, Quick) just don't seem all the fun overall. The ridiculously powerful Locke combinations put non-Locke-esque weapons in his hands, so I refuse to use them. Dual Wing Edges for the win.

It always has been, and always will be, Terra. She's just that versetile and powerful. I've been changing her style over time, from a mage to a fighter and back to a mage. She performs everything that well. -CSM

Shadow... Throw makes him a very usefull character in all the game. he is strong, and he has a very good evade rate, is not the better magic user but not the worst either...

My most useful character in the entire, and the most strongest, would have to be Terra. I level her up at the beggining of the game, while she has the powerful MetikArmor on and with Vicks and Wedge. Level her up to about Level 12 or so, then beat Whelk in one blow with Missle. One of the most important reasons Terra is my most useful is because she becomes so much stronger than anyone else. She is in your party almost all the time, until the WoR, and the only person for the fist half of the game to use magic. Her magic is SO powerful, and with Morph, she can do 2X damage and look awesome doing it. Most of the time, 98% of the time to be exact, she is in my party kicking major butt. If I were to have a 2nd useful character, it would have to be, like ya'll said, Sabin. Undeniablly, his Blitzes are awesome from when you get him all the way to the end of the game. My 3rd would be Shadow. I prefer Terra because I have done experiments with fighting Kefka with the best equipment, and Terra is so far the only person that can beat Kefka BY HERSELF. It's because of the Ultima spell, its soooo awesome.

dude. shes not the only person in the first half of the game to use magic. everyone else can use it too, once you learn it.

and last time i checked, everyone can use ultima. and most of em do 9999 damage. not just terra.

What I meant was, that for a long period Terra was the only person that could use magic. The reason I said what I said about the Ultima thing is that, if you are playing the game the first time through and you don't know how to get the Esper that teaches Ultima (not all Espers you have to get in the game), you can level Terra up to Level 99 and she will learn it automatically. Do you get my point now? I know most people that play the game the 1st time though won't bother to level them up to level 99, but if you didn't get the Esper for Ultima she will be the only one who will know Ultima. If you don't bother to teach the other character magic, Terra and Celes will be your only magic users. I know this because the first time through, I thought the Espers was only to be used for attacks and not to learn magic. So, the first time I beat the game, I beat it with only Terra and Celes as my ONLY magic users. I hope that makes more sense.
