I dunno if you guys ever got this, but I've done breeding according to the guide provided here, and when I get my Gold Chocobo, it says its stats are max sp. 147 stam. 999, but my black chocobo was max sp.152 stam 999 and my wonderful was max sp. 149 stam 999. While the stats do say that my Gold should be the slowest of them all, it always performs the best of all of them . Say I do a short course using the same strategy of using up stamia at the beginning, and just running the rest @ default speed that I start out with. Using that, My Gold finishes when the rest are just over 1/2 done with the course, and when I do it with my black, the rest finish about 3/4 of the course done [ I repeated this 12 times and it comes out to this] Ignore the wonderful since it suffers during the end of the course, but can somebody explain why my Gold does the best?

along w/ that, what are your chocobos stats?

It could be that your gold chocobo is the fastest sprinter, or has the most stamina (even if it says 999 for all, I believe the meter goes down more slowly on different chocobos). Also, gold chocobos are not affected by the water in the long course or the wind in the short course, which can give you an amazing lead.

running up the hill and through the wind tunnel in the short race, you have the advantage - i take it from your post that you sprint up the hill? you have the advantage, only Teioh can run up the hill with ease, and he takes his time, cuz hes so used to winning

black chocobos are also immune to the wind on the short course i believe. but i do think gold chocobos have a general advantage not shown in the stats.

also (it might just be me) i think that, at least in my most recent play through, the green and blue chocobo's advantage might be switched, because my blue chocobo did well on the hill, and bad in the wind, and vice versa for the green - anywho, black chocos and golds are the way to go

I have kinda the same dilema. I guess the game just favors gold chocobos and thinks "If u can get a gold, then u should get 'secretly' rewarded. that's all i can tell u.
