What's the team you use in FFVII?

Basically list the teams you use before, and if they change after disc 1

(For obvious reasons you understand.)

Pre-Disc 1:
Cloud (Damage Dealer)
Aeris (Healer)
Cait Sith (Healer/Enemy Skill mage, thief, etc)

Post Disc 1:
Cloud (Damage Dealer)
Vincent/Cid (I alternate between'em) (Damage Dealer/Mage)
Cait Sith (Healer/Barrier Caster)

What about the rest of yah?

I've always been a fan of brute force, so...

Disc 1:

Cloud, Tifa, Barrett

Everywhere afterward:

Cloud, Yuffie, Red X


The latter team, when leveled high, is perfect. In fact, since I put them in on a team together, I don't think I ever changed members. Perfect.

I change pretty much everytime I play through, and will choose between any of them but Cait Sith. Just can't stand the guy, don't find him useful. I prefer limits I can control and are more useful. Last time I played, I used Cloud, Red XIII, and Yuffie, though my preferred team is Cloud, Cid, and Tifa.

FF VII is a game with very balanced characters, but the thing that sets them apart are the quality of their limit breaks.

That being said, early on I used all the characters but dropped Cait Sith after I realized he was nothing other than a damage magnet with decent magic. Late in the game it's all about the limit breaks so I was rockin' Cloud, Barret, and Cid. Strong limits plus triple AP growth on two weapons equals unstoppable. I would also occasionally mix in Tifa and and Vincent, but Red XIII's lack of multi-hit attacks really detracted from his usefulness.

Cloud, Tifa, and Vincent. Cloud is awesome, and besides that, he's required. Vincet is just plain cool, and I always have at least one girl on my team, besides, Tifa kicks ass!

I always seem to use Cloud, because he's mandatory; Yuffie because she has some great multi-hitters and can be in the back row; Red XIII because of Earth Rave and he can also fit in the back row.

Lately I've been finding a liking for Vincent, but he's still spending a lot of time on the bench.

I always use Cloud, Cid, and Yuffie. The reason being that the three of them (IMO) have the best limits.

That and they're cool

Cloud is a no-brainer, I have him as my main attacker with some little added abilities.
Aeris I used primarily as the healer and "supports her allies" character until she's history.
Red XIII I used as a secondary physical attacker and a black mage with some of the coolest limits. I would often switch Red with Cid or Vincent as I use them for the same reasons. Long-Range materia with either one of them is VERY useful.

After Aeris dies,

my "white mage" is usually Yuffie or Cait Sith and I throw Barrett and Tifa in there every once in a while for the No. 2 attacker's role. I like to use every character as often as I can. However, for the final battle, I'll use
Cloud: Physical fighter
Tifa: Physical fighter, support, healing
Red XIII: Attack magic-user, item distributer, and support character.
Maybe somewhat unorthodox, but it works for me.

Ya gotta love the ladies. Well I prefer them anyway. One macho guy with a huge sword provides all the masculine machoism anyone ever needs. Ok maybe not but for me this is the case. Tifa's limit breaks are fun to watch, and Aeris always heals the party at the right times. Plus... she's cool! Whoopie! Later in the game Yuffie becomes a good alternative to Aeris with a healing limit break.

My main party consists of Cloud, Tifa and Cid.

Cloud isn't optional, but either way, he would be on my team.

Tifa is there because she contributes to the story alot more then any other character, save Aerith, but I don't like her. Besides, she's dead. Get over it.

Cid. He is on my team for strategic purposes. His final limit has a multi-hit and can bring alot of damage to the enemy/ies. He also has a weapon named the scimitar. This lance has Triple AP growth, 2 slots. While mastering AP, this lance contributes to the speed of the process. Unless you want to use a weapon that has 6 slots at double AP, that's fine, but I prefer the scimitar.

Well, mostly it was cloud, tifa, and red xiii. every now and then i threw vincent in there, but my 1st three were the best for me. tifa was always my strongest character physically.

I rotated a lot to keep part levles a little more even (though there's already a slight ingame balance in there anyway) and to work on everyone's Limit Breaks. My preferred team, however, always seemed to be the same in every game.

Disc 1: Cloud, Aeris, Tifa.
Cloud is mandatory, but he's the big hitter. Aeris is my healer and, with Fury Brand, I could give the rest of the party practice with their Limit Breaks. Also when I get Great Gospel, makes inns and items (except for my Hypers) pretty much useless. Tifa is there for story purposes and an echelon fighter, she does decent damage and has decent magic power, so I let her be the jack-of-all-trades person by giving her most of the command materia.

Disc 2: Cloud, then Barret and Tifa, Yuffie and Vincent, or Cid and Red XIII.
Cloud is pretty much the guy who deals the absolute most damage (Omnislash everything I can. Lacking that, Meteor Rain and Finishing Touch, depending on what types of enemies I'm facing.)

Everyone else is just support for Cloud (), so I pair Barret and Tifa because they are the other core characters, Yuffie and Vincent because they are the secrete characters, and Cid and Red XIII because they are the "less significant" characters. Yes, I'm harsh.

Cloud, Barret &^ Cait Sith, there limit breaks own. And they have cool weapons as well. So that is my lineup.

I mainly go with characters I like as just that, characters.

Cait Sith - Nice limit breaks, too.
Red XII.
Cloud, for obvious reasons.

I sometimes switch Cait Sith for Cid, just for a change.

Yuffie: I like too much this little girl for some personal reasons
Cid: The good Old : «What's yar @#$#&@# problem you numbskulls!»

I tend to use Cloud, Tifa, and Red 13 more often than other party types. I just got used to it and that's the way I stayed since then.

I've played this games so many times... the only characters i never really used because they didn't seem so great in battle were cait sith and red13.

also after playing the first time i didn't really use aeris as you can imagine.

I loved using the secret characters, I had no idea they existed for quite a while. which is a shame because they are sooo cool!

oh by the way if you equip yuffies ultimate weapon and give her morph materia she does loads of damage and morphs pretty much most of the time. This is good for the sources from the monsters in the sunken gelnika plane

you wanna know what a bliss is 4xcut with cloud with his ultimate weapon 4x9999damage to a boss and multiple enemy's in random fights but it's hard to lvl-up Double-cut

I actually use a different party every time I've ever played through (about a dozen times or so), but once I pick that winning three man combo, I stick with it forever.
Before I list my all star team, I'd like to discuss a bit. Aeris is a really great character to use as botha white and black mage, but since all of her limits are completely defensive in nature, she's a little limited. She's very limited in the fact that

Luckily, by then, you could have acquired all other characters, depending on whether you bothered with Yuffie and Vincent.
CId is a great damage dealer in all senses. He does well physically, and not a slouch in the magic department. Plus, his limit breaks are very effective, especially his ultimate. However, this makes him strictly offensive; I've found that giving him support materia disrupts my rhythm in battle.
Red XIII is pretty decent all around, but he usually finds more value in magic than physical damage. I often give him the curing and the best of the damage materia, though his limits aren't quite as great as Cid's or Cloud's.
Vincent I really like, but I really dislike his limits a great deal; enough to bench him most of the time. I can't stand not having control of a character, because I value flexibility, and often one character will have to take over another's role (you could try to call this a result of my training, but I've always felt this way). Otherwise, he'd be the perfect character: a fairly strong character with good magic that can attack from the back rank.
Tifa starts the game pretty weak in my opinion, and I can't say I've had the patience to develop her much. Add to the fact that he limit could such so bad if you aren't so great at picking the right slots, and her best role is in magic support. Not so versatile.
Barret is good at hitting, but not so great at magic. If you load him down and stick him in the back rank, he makes an okay mage, but not as tough as if you left him the heavy hitter. I call him pretty average.
Yuffie and Cait I can't really stand. I avoid them like the plague, even if Yuffie is a versatile fighter. I have my morals.
Cloud is just a bad-ass in all respects. I usually balance him out in the physical, magic offensive, and support roles. He oftens ends up with the second best materia (the best going to my designated magic user), but can still hit hard at the back rank. I would include him every time I could, even if he was not forced upon me.
My ideal team would be Cloud, Aeris, and Cid; but I found my best party to be Cloud, CId, and Red XIII.
