I beat it, haven't gotten the secret ending yet or...
Now for a little review: Pros- Great play control. I've seen a lot of games of this genre come out and look really nice, then you realize you can't really control anything. (*coughMaximocough*) But KH has a very smooth fighting engine and keeps random fights enjoyable, which could have been a challenge, seeing as to how many there were. It's chocked full of side quests and bonus bosses, which helps the replay value, and the worlds are pretty well built. I liked the story for the most part, even though it got a little corny at the end, hey, it is Disney-based, after all. Cons- They kind of screwed up with the whole Gummi ship thing. It would have been a nice little side game if they made it necessary to actually change your ship to go to new worlds. As it is, a good amount of memory is poured into the game, but if you've ever played Starfox in your life you can go wherever you want with the first ship they give you. I hated working all hard to get a tough-to-reach treasure chest only for it to contain a part to a gummi ship. They should have either made the between world areas hard enough that you had to upgrade your ship, or gotten rid of the thing entirely and poured the memory into another world or two, which leads me to my next point; it was a little too short. I clocked in at 26 hours, and it usually takes me 35-40 hours for games such as these on my first run through. Another world or two would have done a lot of good. Finally, I think the beginning of the game, the balance between Squaresoft and Disney does pretty well, but after about a quarter of the game the Square characters are kind of shunted off to the side. Also, Cloud has an interesting story starting at the very beginning of the game, then they never go back to it (unless I missed something.) I think a purely Squaresoft world (Midgar, perhaps?) would have gone a long way to solving that, but I guess the Disney-only fans which will make up a majority of the audience won't have this problem. Overall, I really liked it, but it could have been a little better. -------------------- Hip-Hop QOTW: "Yeah, where I'ma start it at, look I'ma part of that Downtown Philly where it's realer than a heart attack It wasn't really that ill until the start of crack Now it's a body caught every night on the Almanac" "Game Theory" The Roots |
