There's a webcomic called Count Your Sheep out there on the net that you may or may not have noticed I've done some fanart for. It's definetely one of my favorites, essentially being the other extreme from webcomics such as 8-bit or Penny Arcade.
Anyway, the artist has apparently decided to take a short hiatus and has asked for submissions for guest comics. I decided to be unusually brave and submit one. Cross the fingers folks. ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by Narratorway on 26th June 2005 06:25 -------------------- |

I love the way that the panels are merely suggested, rather than a formulaic part of the strip. They're overt to the eye, but the really mean very little in terms of the strip since the action often breaks the boundaries, and the background runs througout.
I went through a few of the comics and I think you did a good job of emulating the characters in your own style, both in dialogue and look. I say submit it! Two minor nitpicks: I think maybe the dialogue in the first panel is a bit abrupt - maybe it would be better to have Katie say, "My fears, of course!". And in the second panel, I'ld go ahead and punctuate her line with a period at the end. But that's minor grammatical nitpicking, relative to what a lot of comic artists neglect. ![]() This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 25th June 2005 12:13 -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I was just about to post that, Alphasmart! Nicely done, but I don't see any mention of this thread.
![]() And did he actually try to get you to add more color? It reads like he did, but you know his English sometimes loses some subtleties, so it's a little unclear. FYI, all, it's on the front page of CYS today. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Matter of fact, he sent me an email about that and I was going to cg it up for him, but now I gotta job with a long and exhausting commute, so I haven't had as much time to work on it as I'd hoped. I'm still going to work on it and submit it to him once I'm done, as a thank you I guess.

Hey, you got the job, too! Awesome, hopefully you can stop by chat sometime soon and tell me about it.

Man, I started reading CYS when you first posted this thread, and now I'm totally addicted! Definately one of the best webcomics around.
BTW, am I the only one here who doesn't really think Penny Arcade is all that funny? I dunno, I read a lot of it a while back, and I was like... Here's what I got so far. I inked and colored Katie, but I don't think I'm gonna stop there. I want to change the boxes and make something outta the rather stale background. Think I'm gonna leave Ship the way he is. I just like the look of him.
![]() Okay, so this is probably going to be the last new picture. Instead of making new ones, I'll just overwrite this one with new versions. I'll let ya know when I update. -------------------- |
