Battle 42 and 43 (Limberry castle) are the only places you can learn it. SOMETIMES, you can learn it during the rooftop battle at the end of chapter 3.
Basically you just have to wait until either Celia and Lede or the Ultima demons (RARE in their case) cast it on Ramza. And live. And... well... that's about it. http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/fi...tics_ultima.txt This post has been edited by Silverlance on 2nd September 2005 20:38 -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

And, if I'm not mistaken, Ramza has to be a squire to learn it, too.

There are some info around but not all of it is true.
Quote Ramza needs to be a squire or have "monster talk" equipped in order to learn the spell Half wrong, he must be a squire to learn it in order to learn it. Monster Talk won't have any effect. Quote you can learn it during the rooftop battle at the end of chapter 3 Actually, I don't think it's possible since the flag doesn't seem to be activated at that time in order to be able to learn it. I base that on the screen of Ramza's squire job. Quote Alma can learn a higher level of Ultima How many times will I have to say this, what is that based on? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The only way in order to teach the second version of Ultima to Alma is using a Gameshark. The only way to teach her ultima (because you can) is to have Ramza cast ultima on her. But she won't use it until Altima turns to her second form, don't know if it's in the AI, but it always turns out like this. Well, at least she can attack with a weak spell instead of just sitting around. Quote Ultima Demons can learn ultima It's confirmed by the BMG, they can but I don't think they will use it since it's so weak (Ultima, the ultimate.... wha?). What advantage would there be in making Ultima Demons learn Ultima anyway? Edit By the way, I'm not so sure about this one because I think it happened a time or two that Ultima Demons casted it on me but the BMG show a straight line in their active abilities list. So basicly, you can only learn it at the Limberry Castle This post has been edited by Zodiac on 3rd September 2005 02:34 -------------------- Sayonara |

Yeah, Ultima can't be learned before you have access to the Scream ability, which is available after the battle at Riovanes' roof. Celia and Lede can unleash Ultima on the rooftop battle, but you won't be able to learn it (I've experienced it while trying to loot the rare ribbons from them).
You definitely have to be in Squire to learn it, and the battle at the gate of Limberry is your best shot: just protect from the Stop and Death status and you have a great chance of learning it. There's also two others opportunities to learn it: battle 51 against Zalbag, and the very last battle, with Alma, Altima and the Ultima demons (although this one is quite useless if you're aiming at actually seeing you Squire job mastered). |
