Tifa's ponytail could make a cool cursor. Or maybe the meteor on the title picture.

or how about the little glove hand cursor they give you in the game

but if it were up to me (for a ffvii cursor)
I'd do the highwind, or the tiny bronco that'd be cool

The Tiny Bronco would make a great cursor indeed. Maybe have its piece-o'-crap propellers spin as it moves? I think the Organics would make a better arrow, myself, but I suppose the Buster Sword's easier to find sprites of and all that.

I would like to make an organics cursor as well, but i cant seem to recall a good limit for Cloud that would provide a clear screenshot of the sword to be taken.

By the way, while I recommend use of the gloved hand as a pointer of some kind, make sure you program it correctly. I have a particular Winamp skin (called "Fatal Fantasy") that's a very nice skin based on FFVII's menu system. The pointer, though, which is the hand, has its 'pointing point' located somewhere above the bottom thumb, and is quite hard to control. Sadly, because of that, I can't use what is otherwise a great skin.
