We all have them on our computer. Little glitches that impede our lives of computer using nerdlyness. So what are your most annoying computer glitches?
Mine for example, is the fact that my mouse likes to auto double click... All the freaking time. Take a moment to consider how agrivating that can be. I'd fix it, but I'd likely end up messing something else up by accident which would inevitably be 5x worse. So, in the spirit of fear (or laziness) I cope with it as best as possible. -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

The insane amount of popups that eventually lead to a crashed computer. I ran a Spyware check: had close to 3000 infections.
![]() ![]() Oh, and your mouse problem is simple...I don't think it's double-clicking, you might have the settings to where clicking an icon once loads it. -------------------- You know. I think you're a very special unit. |

Also, my keyboard occasionally locks the shift key down. I can easily fix this by mashing it a couple of times and it unlocks, but it usually happens when you least expect it. It's been going away lately. ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

My CD player is possessed. Sometimes when you open it, it closes right away, and sometimes it closes automatically as soon as you place the CD in the tray.

Sometimes my cellphone just decides to give my voice mails hours late (sometimes even a day!) and at times it doesn't even accept calls, the phone rings for 2 seconds then it hangs up. And it's a flip phone, so sometimes when I close it it just decides to shut off. As for my computer, sometimes if I leave it alone too long while I'm online it kicks me off while the screensaver is on, and like my cellphone sometimes when I close it (it's a laptop) there's a chance that it'd shut off after a while. And then there are times when the scroll bar just completely disappears, forcing me to use the arrow keys before I restart it. And don't get me started with the mouse, it's one of those touch pads by the way, sometimes the cursor will get glitchy and slow down, and then there are times when it just freezes completely! Yeah, my computer sure acts wierd sometimes, but I still love it.

Let's see. I've had my fair share of bugs 'n glitches before. The most annoying one is right now, my computer really, really loves to slowdown. Especially so when I'm in a chat with somebody. Normally I don't mind it much and just force quit the program I'm currently using and after a few minutes everything goes back to normal. However, when I'm playing an online game with somebody or using one of my IM programs, there's another person on the line to think about and I don't wish to seem rude to them.
Also, for some reason, my printer likes to cut off words on the edge of my paper. It seriously sucks knowing that with an otherwise perfect paper, the words such as 'individual' or 'as' either get chopped of by or entirly fall off of the edge of my paper. Worse off, I reinstalled my printer drivers and ran every diagnostic I know of that came with the thing. Otherwise nothing was really annoying 'cause I knew how to fix it. I actually kinda dispise OS X because of this actually 'cause I'm to lazy to relearn how another operating system and already know how to fix most problems with the older Macintosh systems. If I wanted a Unix based system, I'd have started with Linux or even Unix itself from the start. Therefore, while it's not really a bug or even close to one, I'm going to bundle it in as if it is just 'cause I can. ![]() Well, that's it from me, the man with the eMac. It's not perfect but meh, it works for the most part. . . . -------------------- |

My computer slows down a lot too...like right now. Usually coaxing the appearance of a pop-up message or something will speed it along.
Oh, and it loves to crash. Loves it! Never does any lasting damage [yet] courtesy of the auto-fix, as I like to call it, but I've uninstalled/reinstalled potentially problematic software three of four times, run everything I've got (including several virus scans, like that's gonna reveal anything on an outdated Mac OS), and have concluded, just short of it screaming it at me, that it'd require a shop fee to correct. I figure I can wait until it actually becomes moderately corrupt until I do that, if in fact I can't repair it myself. I like to think I know my computer from the inside out, so it might just be my stupid pride stopping me. Hey, it's goin' on seven years and counting; I don't wanna give in yet! ![]() Most of the "glitches", though, stem from problems with my ISP. Now that's a love/hate relationship if I ever truly experienced one. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway. When things go wrong with my computer, it drives me absolutely insane!
I couldn't take it with the last one. Everyone suggested ways of fixing it, I'd been trying to fix it for months, I just decided to bin it. It may not save money but it saved my sanity. Then I ordered a nice new laptop. It didn't work properly. A very loud whiring noise, whenever it was on, told me something was very wrong. The cd drive didn't work and it crashed quite a bit. I sent it back. I have a replacement now. It works. I'm happy. Whenever I turn this one on, it asks me to insert the cd with the truck program. I just cancel that, I haven't a clue what it's on about, I don't care. Apart from that, it's perfect. Hurray! I'm sure it'll start to wrong eventually as all computers seem to. I'm pretty sure it's a conspiracy. In fact it must be. What other explanation could there be? -------------------- 'Let that be a lesson to all oppressive vegetable sellers.' |

Sometimes my CD driver doesn't want to give me back my CD! Its totally keeping it no matter what, If I press the button the small green light activates for about 2 seconds then it's gone. I can try via the comptuer by executing the ejection command but it also doesn't work.
![]() I even have to reboot my computer by presssing the shutdown button because even a soft reboot isn't enough, what the.... I Had Straaaaaaaange glitches with macs here's my best one: The X only cursor normally coordinations are composed of two variables... X and Y. what if you remove one of them? the movement will only be possible in straight line! that means I had to shutdown manually the mac because that damn cursor wasn't able to move vertically (to hit the menu in order to close it), what the.... -------------------- Sayonara |

Just this past weekend, the video card on my fileserver at home went south. It would crash the driver immediately upon entry to Windows, with results of anything from a dialog box and a reset to onboard video, to a total inability to operate the PC. I'm thinking it got overheated, so I might go get a new heatsink and an additional fan for that case. At least I will do that if I have to return the unused AGP card I borrowed from the office, courtesy Office Cute Girl.
If anyone has an AGP 2X card with at least 64 MB of onboard RAM that they're looking to unload for five bucks, though, hey. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

No no, It actualy double clicks on everything, not just icons. For example, if I were to hit the back button in my internet browser, it would take me back two pages, instead of one. It's a nuissance when it comes to highlighting text. I also forgot all the fun I used to have with MSN. I'd have to make sure I exited the program, saw the little icon in the right dissapear, then open the program again, before I could log in properly.
