I usually level up my characters in the Dinosaur Forest right after I get the airship.

The battles with the dinos will be tough until you get your characters up into the 40s I believe. I doubt it's possible to fight them at all right after getting the airship, unless you already have your best characters. Even then... blink.gif

I usually wait until one round of my character's attacks is enough to take them out. Be it combination of tools, blitz, rage, lore or what have you. Probably best to wait until you've gotten all your characters, That way you'll have great equipment and almost every esper.

Unless you use Vanish/Doom or some equivalent. smile.gif

Then again, stick your characters in the back row and have a LOT of phoenix downs handy. It's pretty easy so long as you keep reviving people and are lucky.

First Q: We used to have it but it was removed. I think I remember seeing an exchange of posts in which a Neal was explaining that it excessivly big and made short posts much longer somewhere. I'm not certain about that though. We have FF IV Bahamut though if you're interested in a Bahamut Avie.

Second Q: 35's a good level to start with if you have decent spells like I do from by training in the Fantatics Tower and The Veldt. Having the Lv 3 spells and having good equips matters a tad bit more then having the proper levels to tell the truth. Also of note, individual Tryanosaurs are much easier then the pincher ones and the Brachosaurs seem to vary in difficulty. Some are pushovers and others are deadly, don't ask me why. Just remember to wear Ribbons because Disaster can screw you if you're not prepared for it. Nothing will really prepare you for Double Meteors or a Brachosaur's Ultima though so tread carefully and act quickly.

Or you know, you can be cheap and use a Fake Mushtache to controll the individual dino's totally rendering them all worthless. I think.

I generally don't start with the dinos until early 50s, but I'm skittish....you can take 'em in the 40s or earlier in the case of my friend John (level 22)

I took them head on in the late 30's, it really helps to have Gale Hairpin and Back Gaurd so you don't get in Pincer and Back attacks and have a quicker chance to cast any spell you want to start off.

Ah, the dinos werent hard as i though, until i got into a pincer with a tyranosaur on each side.. I was concentrating my attacks on the left when the right tyranosaur casted meteor.. and well my party was wasted! After learning i should save every battle i went fine for a while until i ran into a brachosaur. It was a long battle while he just attacked normally and an occasianal swing that kills a party member in one blow. I was sure that i was going to beat him when he casted meteor, killing everyone except Edgar with a measly 14 HP! I accidently attacked with him, and then the vicous brachosaur poofed and died, that was amazing!

Back Guard doesn't help with the Pincer attack there. If a fight is a forced back attack, such as SrBehemoth on the Veldt, or a forced pincer like the two Tyranosaurs, the Back Guard will have no effect whatsoever.

And while I'm at it, Economizers are won from Brachosaurs, not stolen.

Yeah I just found that out, no way of avoiding Pincer Attacks with those two Tyranosaurs, but I guess this is when Gale Hairpin would come in handy

Rarely when you actually want them but often enough to ruin your day. Well, at least that's what I experianced. For a real figure though, it's just a little bit more then 12 percent of the time if I recall what I've heard correctly. (That means I'm probably wrong of course. . . . pinch.gif )

Well sure, why not? It's just a little bit east of Gau's Father's house in the World of Ruin half of the game. Some people tend to think it's shaped somewhat like the head of a Dinosaur or Dragon but I don't see much resemblance myself. Some bandits also tend to tell you that it's north of the Veldt but I don't think that's exactly so either as it tends to be a little off. Hopefully that's descriptive enough.

Edit
Welcome to the site by the way. I hope you enjoy it here.

Just like it was mentioned earlier, using Relm or Gogo with Fake Mustache really helps. Easy way to beat a Brachosaur is to control it, and then just keep using magic on it. Your magic will miss a fair percentage of the time, but he'll never get a turn! happy.gif Cheap as hell, but at least it's not the Vanish/Doom trick.

Careful in DinoForest, even if your level is high, a pincer attack can be deadly if you are not quick. A Tirano Bite could damage you around 9000-9949 hp if you're in a back attack ( believe me, I was around lv 96..), the Bracosaur is a deadly foe too, if he appear. He got Disaster, which leaves you on many negative statuses..his meteor is deadly ( around 3000-3500 HP damage), and his Ultima will kill you for sure, damage around 6000, but if you got only one character standing, is game over, it will take you 9999 HP dmg...be cautious. Also build up your characters, if you want...trough espers bonuses.

I started at around Lvl. 35. Just make sure your team knows some powerful magic such as Ultima or Fire3/Ice3/Bolt3, along with Cure 3 and Life 2.

Putting Gogo in your party will also help, since he can mimic the spells with no MP cost.

Use Edgar's Debilitator to create a weakness, and assault them with magic.

If you are going with the 1 character leveling at a time, use this little trick:
Petrify your 3 other characters. They will still be attacked physically by the Dinos, thus always taking 0 damage. Save your game before doing so, and make sure you have the Exp.Egg equipped and taht you can kill them quickly. That's my mad leveling method, brought my Terra really fast to the 99's. tongue.gif
