The title says everything, I want to hack my FFT CD's Data.
The reason is simple, the game is just too easy. If any of you have programs, anything that could help me modify what's in the game, really anything please give me a link or something. I want to enjoy the game as it was back then. Note: I know what I'm doing so don't go with something like: you can't modify the files that are on your FFT CD. Please help the poor/sad player that I am. Image & CD files Editors will do... -------------------- Sayonara |

Is that even legal?

Could you explain what you are doing? Are you trying to make the enemies have higher levels or something? And what did you mean by saying

I want to increase enemies stats gain for monsters and Humans. Of course I would balance some other things, like Worker 8 which is a dissapointment.
If I remember well this is legal as long as I don't sell it or that anyone else makes profits with it or something like that, just look at Blizzard, they like viewing mods made from their game. And they never released any programs to do so. It was players that wanted it that way. What I mean by back then is when I first started to play the game for the first time, at least there was a little challenge but now there is no more. What I wish is to win battles that I would be proud of, not just killing off enemies and having the big victory screen... Most simples tactics are often the best, that is what I want to change. -------------------- Sayonara |

I don't know if this is what you are looking for but it's a saved game editor. Could help you lower your own stats so it's harder at the very least. Actually modifying the game is quite difficult since we don't have the source code and changing anything even minor in reverse engineered assembly code is very complicated. Link -Ryan |

Hrm, in terms of legality, someone might want to read their liscence agreement before producing the generic "I think" statement.
- You having the right to use the software (this IS what you bought, really; the game itself on the CD is just a matter of convinience since no CD means the liscence is useless to you - You do not have the right to take actions that would permit or facilitate the illegal use of the software by an independant third party who hasn't bought the above rights (ie, a copy, for instance.) - You can't resell the game/your liscence. - Since you've only bought the right to play the game and not the rights to the game itself, derivative work is another thing you agree not to do. The DMCA fills in a few holes in the above (such as the bit on derivative work; you need explicit permission from the owner of the software to legally create derivative work) and seeing as I wrote this from memory, it would be a far better reference (as would your liscence agreement) than me. And would hold up far better in the highly unlikely and considerably theoretical event you found yourself in court over something like this. The reason why this is legal with Blizzard is because they explicitely allow it. Derivative work, according to the DMCA, must be approved of by the owner (note: owner, not creator; whoever has the rights to the product in question.) Again, the DMCA's a WAY better and safer reference than I am. 'Course, seeing as this won't stop you from doing it if you find a way makes this a moot point, so it's merely for the sake of information and personal interest, if any. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

I have a question about the .gme extension. I'm playing fft on ePSXe, but it saves the games in .mcr format. Is there a way to convert these files to .gme? I'v looked around the web a little with no luck. I'll keep looking, but any help would be appreciated.

.gme is the extension used by the DexDrive, the poor, underappreciated hardware tool.
Don't know why we don't have it linked on FFT as well as FF7, but PSXMemTool should do the job in converting for you. http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/ff7/downloads/editors.php -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |
