Another secret is kappa.
Find all the item limked to imp like imp halberd, ... and have a rename card(gain it in colosseum) and rename one character Kappa and there it is. Kappa the secret character #2 because gogo is secret character #1.( I think)

Well, that isn't really a secret at all, just a niftly little thing you can do. There's nothing special attached to the name Kappa; it will not do anything special for you in an ending, no extra character information, nothing. If you make Setzer your "Kappa," then all of Setzer's plot points and cutscenes will remain the same. It is true that the Imp Halberd, Tortoise Shield, Imp's Armor, and Titanium (helm) turn in to uber-equipment when equipped on an imp, but renaming a character Kappa is no secret, it's just something that people like to do.

Also, Umaro and Gogo are the only two secret characters. No one else. No Leo, no Cid, no Ziegfried, no reviving Banon with the white materia if you get to Kefka's tower with three excaliburs in under ten hours, no nothing.

Doesn't Mog count as a secret character? Or only optional?

Well, every single character in the game save Celes, Setzer, and Edgar are optional. Plus, Mog is a mandatory member of your party for about four minutes in the Caves of Narshe (Get it? Get it?!?!) near the beginning of the game. I count the two secret characters as the two characters that are playable only in the world of ruin.

Well I can think of 2 things they are not really much of a secret but...

1. You can kill Phunbaba with Terra the first time you fight him when you are supposed to lose by using Vanish/Doom spells, nothing special happens except that its funny that he seems to revive and Terra is still beaten flat.

2. I also seem to remember a third Zeigfreid/Seigfreid in the original FF3 for the snes his name was Sigfreid, could be just a spelling error but he was the guy who talks to you after you fight him and then takes off with your chest contents.

I just discovered that the boss called Number 024, uses Ice Rabbit when he is near death. Ohh and General Leo is inmune to Clear status, because I used some magicite( phamtom) in the fight with Kefka, he is affected by Shell though (Zoneseek). Not really a big secret but I want to share it...

That's actually a version difference between the SNES and the PS; Vanish misses Phunbaba on the PS versions.

Which is pretty weird; Vanish doesn't miss even against those immune to it. It's like Square wanted an exclamation mark on this fix, when what they should have wanted was a port of the game that wasn't clearly halfassed.

The only well kept secret I can think of is that pointless piece of paper at the returners hideout, on the upper corner of the table and even that's been uncovered for a while. (You'll have to scroll down about half way down that page I linked to if you don't know what I'm talking about.) And with that, I'm tapped for knowlege unless you count stuff that you can't do in a single playthrough. All of that's pretty much all common knowlege as well though. Oh well.

Funny, I was under the impression that you were entirely unable to equip anything (espers, relics, etc) on leo. How could you cast Phantom? blink.gif

That chest is unopenable and has no actual chest data associated with it. It's merely a place-holder event. Conviniently, Square had a "treasure chest" sprite which was solid and occupied a single tile on the ground. And even more convinient, the player is not supposed to see it. So hey: treasure chest sprite.

It becomes an exit after the following scene, the sprite and its non-pass-through properties simply being swapped in favor of the "exit" sprite.

Just to elabarote on Djibriel's post--he used the item Magicite, which summons a random esper. The esper he got was Phantom.

Yes, as it was said, I used magicite..3 by that moment.. Two Zoneseek and Phantom.
Another thing: I learned Step Mine lore in WoB by sketching Intangir... thumbup.gif and that Boss, Number 128 used "Blaster" (which kill all your characters) in the fight, I just suffered today..well, nevermind.

This isn't a secret, but a handy trick.

I learned how to kill most bosses in under five minutes. Just equip everyone with Wall Rings, OR Reflect casted on every party member before attacking the monster.
Then, cast all your offensive spells on your party, but press L so that it "hits" all four of your party members. In turn, it'll bounce off y'all and hit the enemy for quadruple damage. If you're hitting an enemy with say, Ice 3, chances are it'll hit him for 9999x4 damage. That might or might not be a secret, just a discovery..

Or if you want to get algebraic (which I do ^^), it'll be 9999xN, n being the number of party members who still have reflect on. And depending on how much Reflect lasts, you can say 9999xn(t/s), t/s meaning turns per Reflect spell, to find out maximum damage for time with each character on Reflect. AND if Haste doubles your speed!... I'm going to stop now!

One funny thing I noticed though, was when you went in to visit Rachel, it seemed if you kept your eyes on her and watched her, her eyes would be open then close. It seemed to me (now, this was probably six years ago on SNES that I saw this), that she also kind of "Slid" into the bed when I watched her. I don't know if this was me, but it seemed peculiar.

Thanks to Masterzed's extensive documentation, I've learned how to actually make the sketch glitch work well.

On another board I visit sometimes ( bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/ ) there are efforts to use it and many other bugs to try to break the 5 1/2 hour world record with snes9x. I personally don't have the time to help out, but its interesting to follow...

I have a secret...but I can't remember how to get it specifically.
It was so long ago.
Basically, there's an extra menu portrait on the disc (PSX version, obviously) that doesn't appear in the game.
I believe it is for a morphed Terra.
I think I used a ripper to explore the disc.
Can't remember....so long ago.....
But the image was a collection of ALL the images, including Biggs and Wedge (two separate ones, even though they're the same), and the images were all negative images, so the colours were funky.

Anyone else find this?

Yes indeed. And see, this is a Real Big Secret of FFVI, mods, because too few people have heard Terra's vocal theme, and it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. "Final Fantasy: Pray," track 4, sung by Risa Ohki. Big secret.

Not entirely true. Reflected spells only inflict half the damage they would normally do. Also, multi-target spells are 50 % anyway (unless they have don't Split Damage). So on a single enemy, reflecting a multi-target Bio spell (for instance) on your four characters will make for the same end result in damage. If you only have three characters, it will be less.

Heck, since the damage is calculated from the entire thing and not from each reflected part of the spell, you don't even get to break the damage cap sad.gif

There are none, if I recall correctly. Each time you organize one, two, or three parties, you have a big box in the middle of the screen which exactly fits 14 characters. There are no extra slots.

No, there are two extra slots. They just don't appear in shops. They're used for such PC's as Leo and NPC's as Kefka, among others. In the WOR, they're Leo and the Thamasa Kefka. There's no in-game method of activating these characters, though, and if you hack the game, make sure to give Kefka some commands or he'll freeze the game when his turn comes up.

Edit
Didn't notice that I blanketed everyone in those slots as an NPC when obviously, Leo isn't.

Out of curiousity, why only in the WoR? Both of those characters appear in the WoB. It seems that if those extra slots were to be used for them it would be within the world that they appear. Is it because other NPCs such as Bannon take up those slots in the WoB? Or some programming technique?

I have no hacking experience, though when I have the time I've tried learning from your site and Djibriel's, so aplogies if the answer to this question is painfully obvious.
