Bottled fairy, stole the idea from Angel.

Terra painting I did just the other day, but it was so big I had to scan it many times. Took about six hours, I'd say.

This in total probably took me 13 or so hours. Seven and a half in one sitting. Part of a picture I did for a Guitar Festival, called "Babysitter's Entourage."
The guy who hosted the festival asked if the girl was a girl or guy. That's last time I ever do a stupid self-portrait. >.< After that, I took it back, spent six more hours on it, and resubmitted it, giving you this.
Ohh! And you can see Angry Jeff. He's the winged, lemon head-shaped creature in the corner. He's my own creation, I love him very much.

Same thing, just the animals. [Notice the impressionistic, Renoire-type background he said would look better in it. ~.~]

You're telling me that there's no hope.

I'm telling you you're wrong.

As I once heard in an art forum: That shit's scary good!

Last time I used a paintbrush, I think Kurt Cobain was still alive. It was a very rocky relationship and I got nothing but respect for those that can wield a brush. The detail on that last one alone humbles me.

Well, I decided that I'd leave some good critique for you since I like your stuff...

The first thing I did was to notread the info about them. I try to look at the pieces fresh with no opinions formed about them before I even give them a look. After I've studied it a bit, then I go back and read what you wrote about it.

Oh, BTW, are these acrylics?

Bottle - I'm not sure how advanced you are in your painting techniques, but your bottle needs to give more of the appearance of being translucent. It's very opaque and the only indication of it being see-through is the fact that it's lighter than the rest of the background (and the little figure inside too). Until I read about it, I didn't know that was a fairy. Very vague, but you probably wanted to capture that feeling. The colours work very good together ( thumbup.gif ). The strongest point of this piece has got to be the black candle.

Erra - I automatically saw Terra upon opening it up. I know it wasn't intentional but somehow the splits and piecing back together I think adds to your composition. Again, very good choice of colours. You have a very good concept of space, and it's well used.

Babysitter2 - I find this piece very rough and almost a preliminary painting if anything. Explore working with it more.

Babysitter1 - The weakest of the bunch. It is very flat with very little depth. The painting effects themselves that you employed are quite good.

Overall: I really like your style. When I was still in college, I had an instructor who said that girls tended to paint 'fuzzy' or 'misty' in their oil/acrylics. I didn't necessarily believed it, but then one time he gave a critique of all our things and even mine had that tell-tale fuzzyness (although, not as appearant). If I judge 'girliness' by this, you are quite the girly painter happy.gif .

"Yes."
"Arthur Philip Dent?"
"Yes."
"You're a total knee biter."
