As most of you probably know, Vincents final weapon, the Death Penalty, gains more attack power based on how many creatures he dispatches with it. I want to know if it matters what the creatures are. Like, does killing a creature from the northern crater level it up as say, a Kalm wolf?

I'm fairly sure it is only dependant on number. Quantity not Quality.
Though how many I'm not sure. I mean, I spent hours killing buggies in Mideel with it and the damage still wasn't very impressive. ![]() -------------------- The clouds ran away, opened up the sky And one by one I watched every constellation die And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star I should've known, walked all the way home To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone -Atmosphere "Always Coming Back Home to You" |

By 'dispatched' do you mean just HP-driven-to-zero killed or instant-death-attack killed?

The damage is based on how many (quantity) enemies VINCENT (not the party, just Vincent) has slain since he joined your party. You can pump up the Death Penalty by equipping Slash-All or casting E-skills a bunch of times in a weak area (I tried it in the Mythril Mines right before Junon), but the extra damage isn't noticable unless you kill an obscene number of enemies.

For being unquestionably one of the outright coolest characters, I use him rather frequently and his death toll is always up there for me.

Just how obscene are we talking? Dirty, or really filthy? I can't say I like his limits much, so I never really used him; consequently, he hasn't killed many enemies.

let's say too obscene to make it a really awesome ultimate weapon like the Conformer or Missing Score. I walked around the Mythril Mines with Vincent killing all of the enemies exclusively (Slash-All/Flash equipped) and the damage did noticeably increase, from like 3600 to around 4100 after over an hour of massacre. I have no idea what the mechanic for damage calculation based on enemies killed is, but it requires too much time and patience for me to want to exploit it.

I have never been able to make any difference after killing 200 monsters even if the formaula is the same as a normal weapon + 1*Number of enemies killed. It happened to many people like me to be unable to grow it's damage and the only conclusion I have gotten to are those: - after either a total of 255 or 511 enemies killed, damage won't increase anymore. - Damage only increase before you gain the weapon "Death Penality" I have tried killing monsters while equipping /while not equipping the death penality and even by killing/by not killing enemies with the actual weapon... All this is... just weird ang buggy -------------------- Sayonara |

Can't seem to power it up. Doesn't his UW increase the more people he kills? I've killed a bunch but he's still stuck doing low damage. Anyone know how to power it up?

I think its just a case of killing huuuuuge amounts. Give him slash all, and go to the forset where you get yuffie. Every fight there is 3 or 5 (occasionally 2, on a back attack). It will take a long time, but you just have to bear with it :S

Actualy guy's, not to eat your cake or awt but Vincents UW powers up by how many monsters you kill as of when you pick him up and when you get his UW.
I use Vince ALOT as he is the best out of all of them and have spent many a hours testing diffrent theries on this subject and this is the one that has come out most succesfull ![]() -------------------- Jesus H. God Bless Us Christ, I Have Seen The Light |
