Question about Umaro.

I have Umaro at lvl 99 ( And man, was he a hard one to level up. ) and I know the following: Green cherries boost him up.
But if give him MULTIPLE green cherries during the battle, does he become even more powerful with every cherry? Is there any limit?  If not, then I have totally underestimated this character. |

Since most games don't allow you to do such things, I don't think FF6 does, either. Zed or Djib' would know for sure, though.
