Greetings, everyone.

I was wandering in the endless world of internet, looking for some information about the masterpiece of Squaresoft: ( I have always wondered... The name is "Squaresoft", but the logo is a red triangle! huh.gif Duh. ) FF6!!! laugh.gif And found this place. Hooray.

I have been playing the game for around 1 year now, though I purchased it about 3 years ago. dry.gif I have never actually beaten the game ( I've tried three times. ), and now I think I'm about to success. So far, I have trained 5 characters ( Sabin, Shadow, Umaro, Celes and Strago ) to lvl 99. They have pretty much all the spells, except Umaro and Strago. unsure.gif I have paladin shield, I have trained them with Odin to get speed bonuses ( otherwise, I usually train Magic power. ), I have done all " missions " except conquering Kefka's tower. I have Illumina and crusader, and my characters are doing very fine. happy.gif
If any of you " veteran players " has any useful hints or wants to ask something, go on, post here. I'm really glad to find such a site as Cavesofnarshe.com.

When all my characters are lvl 99 with all spells and good equipment, then it's time for me to do my final trip to Kefka's domain. Wish me luck. ( I have played for 43 hours and I have taken 98000 steps, if anyone's interested about such an information. )

And to tell the truth, I HAVE used walkthroughs... But only a bit, I swear! I swear!

Welcome to the board, simeon!

I'm not exactly veteran of the game, having not completed the game myself (although that's due to not being bothered rather than inability) but I have learned from experience that level 99 is overkill, to be blunt. could you tell us exactly what has prevented you from finishing the game, whether it was time constraints or difficulty? I know for a fact (to be blunt again) that FF6 is reeeallly easy, so the latter aughtn't be a problem, especially at those levels.

anyway, nice to meet you, and I hope you will enjoy your stay here!

Heyhou, Alphasmart!

To your question: The reason why I haven't finished the game and why I still haven't given Kefka " bloody lip ", is that I WANT the last battle to be overkill. And if I don't have all the characters in lvl 99, I feel that I haven't completed the game. dry.gif

you want overkill? Pff. Easy. Here's a quick way to do it:

give one character genji glove and offering. Give them nice weapons (e.g. illumina+Atma weapon, illumina+valiantknife (for locke only), dice+fixed dice (setzer only)...you get the idea). Attack. If you haven't killed him, which may be hard with the above choices, make someone cast ultima, or do something else stupidly overkill. Poof, you did it.

Now I might just do that. Or might not.

Howdy, welcome.

Here's my tip: don't ruin it for yourself by missing the whole battle by killing him in two hits.

Hell you can overkill Kefka with a party at level 50, it is not that hard.

As for levelling up. There's a room in Kefka's Tower where all the random enemies are Doom Dragons. Petrify three of your party members, and make sure the last has about or over 128% magic evade (since magic evade is both magic evade and evade, due to a glitch in the game). Use the Hero Medal for this -- you win it in the Coliseum, as I remember -- to equip characters with things like Illumina, force armor, and force shields. They'll use Fallen One on your remaining character, but who cares? Even if your HP stays at 1, no other attack can hurt you thanks to your 128% M-Evade. To take the buggers out, use Ultima for your characters who have both the Exp. Egg and the Hero Medal equipped, or you can use the Offering for characters like Edgar who don't have to use the Hero Medal.

And you'll level up right quick.

Kefka will be quite easy at Lv 99, unless you do something stupid like cast Ultima on yourself or forget to put on your good equipment. I myself never even got into the fourties when it came to levels and have beaten the game eight times.

Now as for a hint, I'd have to say wait for Shadow on the floating continent the next time you play no matter how low it may go. Maybe you already did but if you're anything like me, you probably didn't and missed out on a nice opportunity.

Welcome to the Caves by the way.

Edit
Ouch, that Step Mine's gotta hurt.

Level 99 will make Kefka even easier than he already is. As for leveling, I was able to beat him with Terra, Celes, Sabin and Shadow all around level 45. All my other guys were like, level 28 or something horrible like that. God, I love Moogle Charm... happy.gif

However, I will say that the statues were a pain to fight. Since I tried fighting Doom with a party of level 28's, it took me over an hour and a half to beat him, but I did it wacko.gif
