Yeah I noticed it. I believe they're like that when you fight them again.

Trying to work from memory here, but don't they wear headgear in the proper slot as well? My take on it was always that they wanted the assassins to have the benefit of both pieces of headgear, so they stuck one in the accessory slot. Not that a localization error would surprise me either, but face is, a Barette is much more useful than a pair of Battle Boots...

I actually just finished that part and they're ribbons (I think) as accessories and generic hats on their heads (if they're not also ribbons). When you fight them a second time, they wear normal accessories, I think.

Yeah, I always figured they did that to get the benefit of the barette as well as that of a regular head-piece (better HP). I'd never really thought of a localization error as a possibility

the second time you fight them I believe they both have perfumes on - but I too noticed that they had barretes on ( one had a cachusa and the other had a ribbon if I remeber right)

I have tried to steal them. (unsucessfully) If you get them, do they count as headgear or accessories.

Probably not. I would assume they would be headgear.

You can use a savegame hack to put equipment in the wrong slots on your own characters, as well, but that doesn't make your Rune Blade magically and forever become a shield. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

The items do go into the correct categories (this particular theft is one of my favourites, I do it on every playthrough). And it's a Cachusa and a Barrette, not a Ribbon, btw.
As for the assassins being able to equip ribbons as accessories at this specific battle, my guess would be that it's forced upon, since it is mostly the fact for story battle. How it's done I wouldn't know: perhaps a special ability of the Assassin class, but then, why only at this battle and not the other two story battles...it seems like such a good setup, why introduce it for only one battle? If someone has access to a sharking device, maybe he can get the assassins in his/her party and check if he can equip them with Ribbons in Accessories. If it can't be done, then my guess is that it was purposely done that way for the first encounter with them to make you have a "They're not the ordinary bodyguards" feeling... as if throwing a man off a roof with one hand wasn't enough.... |

Ok because you are all so nice I have given It a try, Assasin's Have minimal Abiities, but the top most is Equip Accesory. I found it intruiging and did a few battles to get enuf Jp :2500: This allows them to use it as head gear or any accesory for that matter . I called square t oask them about it and it turns out that they have it set up that way so u cant properly affect them statistacly..(spelt horribly wrong) (no stop/slow/ect.

I put an Assassin in my party with a save editor once, and they don't have any such ability. I'm fairly sure they can't equip Ribbons in their accessory slot, as with as much as people look into this game, someone would know by now, but I didn't think to test it.

I looked it over (again) and found that they don't have perfumes equipped in either of the battles.
![]() ![]() Equip Accessory would be a neat skill, but sadly... ![]() This post has been edited by ArcKnight5000 on 1st June 2005 13:00 -------------------- "There is not a liberal America and a conservative America - there is the United States of America.
