You know, there's the collection of movies about the Rapture, of which I've seen one. I thought it was really good, does anybody know what movie that was? "end of the world" and "movie" aren't exactly great terms on Gooogle for a specific bit of into you want
![]() Also, I understood that between these Seven Judgements, there were six small Ruptures for those who had truly found God in the meantime? If you ask me, society as we know it will eventually end in two stages. First, there's the matter of the Oil Crash. Not just out transportion simply relies on the existence of oil, so does electricity and, indirectly, our food production and clean water preservation. There are some who believe that we're propelled back 200 years in a few months when this occurs, and there are those who think we have a sufficient solution by the time it happens. Personally, I think that we won't be properly prepared, and are pretty screwed. So, in a society where we can't do things we always could, I think we'll finally lose a battle which has raged on for 3000 years; man's fight with disease. Every solution we have against it is temporary. I don't think it's going to be that flashy. -------------------- |

Quote (Tonepoet @ 9th April 2005 01:32) Spoony Bard brings up quite a good point. I do, don't I? The zombie thing was actually a joke, my friends were talking about zombie movies in lunch yesterday and one said that a good way to go out would be a bunch of people turning into zombies. -------------------- "I have long enjoyed the friendship and companionship of Republicans because I am by instinct a teacher, and I would like to teach them something." - Woodrow Wilson "And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country." - JFK |

Hamedo, aren't two prophets involved as well in some way? Also, about the oil crash, I really doubt it. There's still PLENTY of oil on our planet to sustain us for years and years (even with China's and India's streaming increases in oil usage). Also, I believe we will have achieved an alternative fuel source before such a thing happens. -------------------- The clouds ran away, opened up the sky And one by one I watched every constellation die And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star I should've known, walked all the way home To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone -Atmosphere "Always Coming Back Home to You" |

I just saw a preview for a TV movie or something on NBC, Revelations. That'll be nice to watch.

Quote (Silverlance @ 1st April 2005 18:11) Jesus was not a pot of coffee. But we can pretend he was, though. No, but there is nothing saying he was not an avid drinker. After all, in that part of the world, coffee is as much a staple as water. Anyway, do any of you remember 1999? At all? Do you remember how many quacks were claiming the world would end? Hell, even the Class of 99 used "saving the best for last" as thier class motto! And anyone remember Y2K? Ugh. Many people thought that it was the end of the world itself. I had my PC on that night, and it didn't even hiccup. It just changed it's clock and went on it's merry way. -------------------- |

Yeah, I remember growing up that the year 2000 would be the end of the world... NOT! I remember in high school class that all stars (the sun included) destroy at the end of their limited lifespans and cause a nova (or supernova for larger stars). The sun is bound to supernova one day and with it's size, there's no telling how long it has lived or will live and at the sun's supernova (I'm sure it'll be called different if it inn't already) more than likely will destroy it's nearest planets and ours may be one of them, I don't know. If the sun's nova destroys our planet, that will be the end of the world as far as life as we know it on earth are concerned and it may or may not regrow and evolve the previously destroyed planets. Our world was formed from a bull of fire, no?

The world is not gonna end for thousands if not hundreds of years. The sun might run out of light, but soon by then we'll have moved to another planet or somewhere else. Actually the only thing that influenced me the world was going to end was Battlestar Galactica the TV series or Independence Day starring Will Smith and that guy from Jurassic Park. I don't think I'll be alive when the world does end. Anyone ever wonder about death? What happens when you die? Do you go to heaven/hell or just disappear. I often question our reality. Sometimes I'm thinking of a fantasy world and then I realize, "I'm alive...." Weird, huh?
