You find Treasure through completing Propositions, and it is for nothing other than appearances. A ton of the names for Treasure come from previous FF games, so it could be part fan service, but it doesn't serve any useful purpose.
Edit
Same deal for Unexplored Land.

Taking up the Propositions and jobs is more for gaining more money and JP for your characters

Now it just RUMORED, but what i know of the jobs is part of some alternate ending which is all text and goes a little more in depth about Delita's rule. Like i said its only rumored.

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
More on achieving this ending is you have to complete all jobs, collect all holy stones, get cloud and all the other story characters but i have no solid evidence of this being true nor have i seen it.

Completing everything does nothing, so unless you get everything on every play-through, there's no reason to aim for it. Believe me, this game is over eight years old: if it could be done, it would have and we'd all know it. smile.gif Besides, you can't get all the Zodiac Stones anyway.

If anything, Treasures and Unexplored Lands give depth to Ivalice's oral traditions. While said items explain more about the past and culture of the country, Propositions, as a whole, are there to shed light onto the daily lives of the masses. While relatively useless game-wise, I'd still consider them invaluable; they only lend more information to an excellent game.

Like it was said, propositions are for gaining a certain quantity of Jp and money, and for gaining some treasures, and extra gil too. There is no real use for those treasures, and most are referencial to previous Final Fantasy Series.(Calcobrina,Excalipoor...) Same is for Unexplored lands, most are referencials too.
