I just recently started playing FFT. Actually my brother and I both. I really like the game, but I have a question. How the heck do you get propositions? Everytime I go to a bar my only options are "Rumors" and "Leave Bar". What am I missing?

You won't get any propositions until Chapter 2.

It's never really articulated as to why it is the case. I think that's a decent explanation, but you'd think after chapter 2 he would have more important things to do than make money, no? Either way, it's probably not relevant.

I think the reasons there were no propositions in Chapter 1 was because the whole thing was a flashback, but also him being a mercenary would also help explain it too.
