BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY. READ AND HEED.
I just verified this with Snopes and it is REAL. (not me me, the person who sent this out) PLEASE INFORM EVERYONE Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are being sent and the moment that you open these emails your computer will crash and you will not be able to fix it! If you get an email along the lines of "Osama Bin Laden Captured" or "Osama Hanged"don't open the attachment. This e-mail is being distributed through countries around the globe, but mainly in the US and Israel . Be considerate & send this warning to whomever you know. PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS: You should be alert during the next days: Do not open any message with an attached filed called "Invitation" regardless of who sent it. It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch which "burns" the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list, that is why you should send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it. If you receive an e-mail called "invitation", though sent by a friend, do not open it and shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN, it has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept. SEND THIS E-MAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW -------------------- I fear my heart and fear my soul Life goes on, it surely will, Without me and I wonder: Will I ever see light again? Life goes on... |

Sounds pretty bad, thanks for the warning.
I searched for some info' on this but all I could find was http://www.hoax.it/archivio/cnn(75).htm which at first seemed the same but has a few differences. Seems a bit strange... oh well. -------------------- 'Let that be a lesson to all oppressive vegetable sellers.' |

Thanks for the warning. I'll be sure to delete those kinds of e-mails on my inbox.

Err... this seems kind of like BS.
By "zero sector" I assume it means boot sector. There are already plenty of boot sector viruses to go around. And I'm going to bet that it doesn't literally burn your hard disk... The advice to never open attachments unless you know exactly what they are and exactly who sent them (by which I mean, you've had confirmation other than "Well, that's their from address and the attachment says it's a picture of Osama getting hanged...") is generally sound in any case, however. I think everyone should know not to open attachments in junk email, but if they don't, hopefully this email stops them.
There's one piece of advice that I don't get, though: "If you receive an e-mail called "invitation", though sent by a friend, do not open it and shut down your computer immediately." How is that going to solve anything? It will still be there when you turn on your computer and go in your inbox. -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

I'll keep aware of such messages. Could deleting them be any harm?

Reading++. This is a hoax according to Snopes, regardless of Sherick's post.
