My mother comes from a strong Irish background under the Gilby and Brady names. My father (and all my ancestry as far as we've been able to see) are Scottish Bruces. So yes, as you're probably asking yourself, I am the heir to King Robert the Bruce of Scotland... That last part wasn't true.

I consider myself simply American. None of my family is just off the boat or speaks anything other than English with an Ohio accent, we haven't kept any old traditions, and I'm more likely to eat catfish jambalaya than bratwursts and sauerkraut.

And I don't like beer. For that alone Germany would refuse me, even if I did want to claim it.

Wasabi Viniagrette: Mix 1/3 C rice vinegar, 2 Tbsp sesame oil, and 2 tsp powdered wasabi. Excellent over cold udon noodles and shiitake mushrooms for a Japanese pasta salad.

I'm actually a little surprised that this thread is so old and I never posted in it. I'm for the most part Scottish, that makes up the majority of my bloodline, though from what i'm told my father was a bit of a mutt, so I have the dliuted bloodlines of the irish and even a tad of indian in me. You can't really notice though, like I said, i'm probably 90% Scottish. My ancestry is pretty interesting, to me at least. I'm a member of the Boyd Clan, and a descendant of Henry the 8th somehow, I forget the details. It's interesting though because looking at paintings of him, my grandfather is damn near his spitting image. We were something like third in line to the throne, well, my ancestors were. But they got greedy and tried killing people to get on the throne earlier which got them banished. Heh, silly folk.

Completely Asian, but there are some kicks to that. Grandfather was from Fujian, but went to Taiwan along with Chiang Kai-Shek after the Commies kicked the Nationalists out. So, technically, my father's side of the family is Taiwanese...although from Fujian. My mother's side, however, is completely Taiwanese, which is defined by being in Taiwan ever since the Japanese occupation...which also brings up the (mostly unknown) chance that I may have Japanese blood. We're all of Han ethnicity, though, so that's not too much to worry about.

In other words, some strange mixture of Taiwanese...although, at the very most, I have one-eighth of Japanese blood...if it exists.

And I took Chinese in high school, so I know nothing word-wise of my heritages, except the little french they teach in culinary school, and the word kolachen, because they are the shiz-nite! And for those who think I misspelled it, that is czech spelling.

My grandfather was Acadian, so I have some French. Of course there's also probably some British or something in there but I'm not too sure on that one. I also have some Mi'kmaq and Metis (natives) as well as a little Portugese (where my dark hair comes from) and some Scottish. One thing I'm sure of, though, is that I'm 100% Canadian!

I'd say I'm NEARLY 100% Irish. My father's side is 100%, and my Mother's side is McDermott, but she has a WEE bit of German in there, so I'm SLIGHTLY mixed, about an eighth to a quarter at most. I think it's a little less, but to be on the safe side We'll go with that. I got some Geisenhof in me.
