Ok, this may seem like a dumb question, and may have already been answered, but here goes anyway.
1) Just what does Algus mean at the battle at fort Zeakden when he says Ramza is 'using' Delita? I can't seem to figure out what that means o.o does anyone else know, or does the game even tell us? 2) Also, if Delita falls during the battle, he always (one time) will rise to his feet claiming that after Algus, Ramza is next. Does this mean that he believes that Ramza is using him... for something o.o Any help clearing this up would be appreciated. -------------------- Link: "What is it?" It's been a while, but I think it had to do with how Algus believes that commoners are just tools of the nobles.

Does this mean that he believes that Ramza is using him... for something o.o Any help clearing this up would be appreciated. 1.) Algus believes that all nobles will use their "inferiors." So having Delita tag along is like having your pet dog tag along -- fun, but if he gets out of line you're gonna show him who's boss. Oh, and ANIMALS HAVE NO GOD! (--Algus.) This is what Algus thinks, anyway, or it's something he says to rile up Ramza because it's probably a point of contention, with the Beoulve brothers being how they are. 2.) Which brings us to Delita's comment. It was at Fort Zeakden, right? Firstly, Possible spoilers: highlight to view Secondly, Delita's so mad with grief that he's subconsciously begun to believe what Algus (and people like him) has been saying. Even the idea that Ramza MIGHT be "using" Delita or thinking himself superior to him in any way completely jabs at off the pissed-offedness button in Delita (see later chapters: "I won't be used. I'll be the one using!"). Ramza's brother ordered Teta killed. It's a very human reaction, I think. This post has been edited by L. However, in Ramza's dream with Balbanes on his death bed doesn't he say to Ramza:
Quote Delita is a good boy. He will serve you well. Doesn't that mean anything? It sounds to me like Delita was originally supposed to be "used" as Ramza's sidekick of sorts. It might be negligible because despite Delita's secrecies throughout, they still talked like good friends throughout the game. Delita's family worked under the Beolve family. The comment about Delita "serving Ramza well" wes not, in my opinion, a comment that suggested that Delita was substandard or to be "used".

Guys, anyone who posts about No-Name's post is just as off topic as he is (albeit not as troll-like). Note that.

Anywho, I think (based on what people above have stated) that I know what Algus and delita meant by their statements, you can close this topic R51. Unless someone needs it ^-^ Thanks all. -------------------- Link: "What is it?" Mario: "It's coin, what the hell does it look like?" Link: "Well.... What do you do with it?" Quote (Strife543 @ 7th March 2005 20:47) Ok, this may seem like a dumb question, and may have already been answered, but here goes anyway. 1) From what you see regarding Algus' personality and beliefs (Thieves' Fort, Dorter), it's easy to see that his outlook on life doesn't include placating or helping out the proletariat and/or those without rank. That sort of resentment may be a commonplace trait in Limberry for all we know, but since the end of the 50-Year War, you can sense the chasm that seperates upper-class ideals and lower-caste ideals. Saying that all of Ivalice was on the fringe due to war, drought, or famine would probably be correct--with all the loss of life and time, it's hard to imagine hate not forming between those of social status (anywhere). At Fort Zeakden, the summation of Teta's death, Algus' searing words, and Ramza's naivety seem to bring about Delita's "splintering" off from Ramza. Thinking that Ramza was fairly clueless to his "using" Delita (because of the bond they shared) while Delita took the words to heart enough to decay his view on the Beoulve family would be on the right track. Perhaps Algus' one-sided views applied to Delita's one-sided views to the Beoulve family who had both helped him immensely and still wounded him with as much effort. The words have some impact on him in any case, because you never see Delita and Ramza ever reminisce or speak in the same way to each other again. As a matter of fact, as Ramza seems to have the guiding eye in the first chapter, after the events at the Fort, Delita's new-found resolve seems to be guiding Ramza through the rest of the game. That's just how I see it anyway. 2) I don't believe that he immediately sees Ramza as a threat to his life or anything like that. To say that Delita's view on his companionship with Ramza had stagnated or become distorted would be both right and wrong, I'd say--in one instance, you have Delita's working behind the scenes, isolated, just as Ramza's actions seem to be; while the meetings they do have are friendly in nature (like sportsmanship, almost) and free from belligerance, though not yet completely trusting. I remember seeing a page that told of the botched translations in the game and how the words "best friend" were not used said by Delita or Ramza at any point in direction to one another. That would have clarified where their foundation stood before the crises came about. Again, my seventy-two cents. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |
