The most Useless special character that can join my party has got to be Malak, he has a very poor job, poor abilitys, and flat out sucks, Rafa was more useful than him.

The Hell Knight and Heaven Knight job class is always looked down upon for thier skills' randomness, but I don't mind them that much. Just find a way to minimize the effect.

But, out of those listed up there, I'd probably go with Malak as well.

Cloud.

At least the loser twins can hit the enemy, even randomly! Cloud's close range charge attacks are pathetic at best, and otherwise he's just another melee.

I have to go with Malak on this one.
since he does't much use in the game since rafa is good with magic and finding items.

I too would have to go with the ever picked-on Malak. Though, I am not as adamant about it as others..............he's not that bad.

Rafa and Malak were both pretty useless, but I chose Malak because at least Rafa is good for advancing the story at one point, and she gets extra points for being a girl.

I found Rafa and Malak to be pretty good, actually. It's all in figuring out how to use them.
Cloud has, so far, added nothing and has only caused me aggravation in trying to figure out how to use him effectively.

I nulled this time. I found everybody to be useful even Rafa and Malak. Rafa because of her low brave to find rare items. And Malak for an entirly different reason:

It was the Battle of Zalera. All of my guys were knocked cold from a Flare 2, except one. My priest was one turn away from being a crystal. Ramza and Medioul weren't much better off. The dead body of my summoner was inbetween Zalera and "the last man standing" AKA Malak. Undead monsters were everywhere and I thought that it was going to be the end of my rope. I commanded Malak to use his mighty Goku Rod, against the Zodiac Beast. With a 84% chance of connecting it hits. Zalera takes his final breath and dissapears into the ethers, never to be seen again. Obviously, I wouldn't have beaten Zalera without him. That is the only reason I didn't vote for him useless though tongue.gif .

Also, who in their right mind would vote Orlandu AKA Thunder God Cid? The guy isn't useless! Quite the contrary, he is too useful.

i voted malak for all the above said reasons

but i also think Meliadoul was pretty useless since you get her after Orlandu and he already knows all her skills...

and as for Cloud
Cloud + short charge+ finish touch = ownage

I voted Reis. I found myself using Rafa and Malak more than I did Reis. I guess I never really took advantage of her skills, but as it stands now, she's the most useless.

I haven't played in well over two years, but IIRC, Beowulf was utter crap.

His abilities were nothing too special, his stats were just "ok", and you had to go through an annoying series of battle to get him. At least Cloud gave some interesting sidequests to go on; this guy just leads you through 4 dungeon floors and that's that. At least you get Reis.

I would've voted Melidaoul if I could remember what she did; as far as I can remember she didn't stand out much. I don't think I've ever used her, in fact.

Mustadio wasn't all that great either, but guns are ok weapons because of their range and elemental attacks...

I voted for Mustadio, I don't use him at all. In fact, I don't even let him join up.

and the only use I've found for Orlandu is taking his precious Excaliber away from him.

You people who voted for Mustadio are out of your minds. Not only was he a cool character and fun to play with, his presence was essential for a vast majority of the sidequests in the game.

That being said, it was kind of a tie between Rafa and Malak. They both suck.

Well to tell you the truth, I never actualy used any special chars in exeption of ThunderGod Cid. I didn't like Agrias that much (yeah her skills were somewhat great, but she didn't do great dmg), I never liked Mustario (long-range char? c'mom, a ninja with 2 koga knifes and a lot of shurikens are a way better).
My party always has been: Ramza (as a ninja), a samurai (yeah samurai rules), Cid (admit it, he's just uber), a black wizard (some may say "black wizard? he sucks at the second half of the game!" but did you ever try puting calculate on him?), and to finish, a mimic (just mimic the black wizards flare/death calculations and the battle ends) or byblos (yeah I do like byblos).
Sorry for going a little out-topic.

Alot of those characters are very useful in their own ways, but if I had to go with anyone, it was Malak. He wasn't far behind Rafa, either. They're both good in their ways, but they're the only ones I could decide to pick lol.

Well, i mainly go for malak. I really didnt like his random panel attacks (that goes for rafa too, but malak is definitevly worse) Beowulf, maybe, i mean, he has cool techniques, but on the other hand, he looks like a wannabe oracle , just that magics are instant, 1-panel effect, a bit less mp required and da shaky thingy above da enemy before da spell is shown does not appear, and i couldnt find him a matching job ability. Worker 8, he is a strong guy, but i cant equip anything onto him, and i like equippin my mercenaries stuff dat boosts der movin, and i cant recover him with white magic, reis however, has very cool abilities

The ones that i DO really like are:
Agrias: she has very cool abilities and since she is holy, i thought white magic suited her
Orlandu: Holy---- what a strong guy here! he is awesome!
Mustadio: One of da coolest. probably da coolest, in short words
Cloud: Very few times do they throw cool characters into other games (although is from da FF series)like dis guy, and this chance must not be wasted. Sides, cloud roolz.
Reis: She is very powerful, and i wanted to have sum1 with an inviting ability other than mediators, reis is way cooler

Let me ponder... hmm... I found a good number to be useless.

I guess the person I used the least was Cloud, cuz when you get him, he's so weak. I can barely ever build him up because, low and behold, anything he does, he gets killed trying to pull it off. Even with Short Charge, he is usually taken down in one hit by something before he launches his attacks. Beyond that, his abilities just don't do much better than other skills that have less or no charge time. Otherwise, he's standard melee.

On the other hand, Beowulf's oracle-like sword powers are pretty useless except for shock. But he's such a good physical fighter, he makes up for it, mostly. And then, there was, Melidule, who also hit hard, but whose skills were useless against anything inhuman.

Still, I suppose Rafa and Malak were the msot furstrating since their random attacks never seemd to hit what you wanted them to hit. On the other hand, they are good with their Rods and can be turned into very powerful spell-casters if you put them in other classes. But I don't bother to do that much...

From the poll list, I'd say Malak and Rafa equally, but since I can only pick one, I'll say Rafa because as a woman, she has a natural incompetance which puts her behind her brother. (just kidding =P). I pick Rafa cuz Malak seemed to hit more things with his hell powers than Rafa did with her heaven ones, though that may have just been luck. (that's not saying he hit much, mind you) I like them alot as characters, but as soldiers, their usefulness was pretty low. Even Cloud's skills at least (almost) guaranteed a hit provided he can actually get the casting time off before he gets KO'd.

But to be honest, even though he's not listed, I gotta say Boco. Yeah, he hits hard and can heal, but as a monster, he dies pretty quick against humans and a good number of other monsters, and he of course, can't be made more powerful through skill development. And he keeps filling your roster with eggs, the crazy super-breeder. What does he think he is, a rabbit?

Malak. Those Heaven/Hell Knight abilities were totally worthless, but Rafa was at least still useful for her low Brave. And at least Cloud's abilities looked cool, if nothing else!

even though it is kinda cheating on the answer i hate all the guest characters while they are guests. i have played fft enough to find a useful situation for every special character without having to jump through hoops......however the guests no matter who they are are annoying due to the fact they always mess up my battle plan. i know i can unequip them and kill them easily( as long as the battle isn't one in which i must save them) but i just find it annoying that i must constantly change my plan of attack to compensate for the actions of the guest.

I have a list of the "Useless":

1. Malak- he has one of the most useless skills in the game, he doesn't do much damage unless he is at a higher level, and he doesn't match with many good skills.

2. Boco- it is just plain annoying to continuously delete eggs that this one lays, considering that usually they are a lower level than your party. I mean, what can you do with a level 10 chocobo in the Zodiac Cave?

and last but not least...

3. Rafa- I never end up using her because she becomes obsolete after you get Reis, Beowulf, Worker #8, and Cloud. She is really good in the start of the game, though sleep.gif
