Ok ok a bit of a random topic, but just wondering on waht your people's thoughts are on each person's outerwear and how you think it affects them

ex.
Cloud - Left shoulder armour I think? whats with that, that doesn't really do much...does it?
Yuffie - Whats with her..left sleeve I believe? Hiding shurikens?
Tifa - DAMN CAN SHE SHOW ANYMORE? lol
Barret - He's jacked, he's got a gun on his arm, not too much past that.

etc etc. Just wanting some ideas for some writings me doing happy.gif

Tifa - DAMN CAN SHE SHOW ANYMORE? lol

What, was she supposed to wear the smaller breasts one day? Her outfit isn't all that revealing, in my opinion. If anything, I think she's the only female video game character ever of whose clothing I've approved...and anyone who remembers my rants on this subject knows that that's saying something. Tifa isn't dressed much differently from typical modern dress, and while it doesn't look like it could possibly provide any defensive advantage, and least it's suited for kick-boxing (compare with Aeris' long dress). If anything, I'd say that Tifa's choice of clothing reflects her circumstances. She's a girl living in a big city, and she has to defend herself regularly. She's dressed for comfort and mobility, with a bit of style thrown in. She's grown up from the girl who wore dresses with cowboy hats in Nibelheim, and her clothing demonstrates her largely correct assessment of the nature of the world and of her place in it.

I always thought Red XIII's outfit was too revealing. Maybe it's just me...

I've wondered what Yuffie's arm-thingie is, too. I've heard anything between a large gauntlet to an elongated buckler, but it seems like clothing of sorts to me.

Ever noticed how only party members and important NPCs have unusual clothing? Townspeople all wear generic pants/shorts/skirts with a shirt/blouse/vest. Sometimes a hat of sorts. Party members have capes, weird junk on their shoulders, and wear matching colors.

Isn't that because making a new model for every character would be inefficient? Yuffie's gauntlet thingy is made of cloth, but it has what looks like a materia slot or shuriken clip type thing on the wrist of it, my guess is it's where she put her oversized shuriken, when it's not on her back(that's where it is in Ehrgeiz) But what I want to know is why she never zips her friggin short up? I mean I seriously doubt she needs ready access to their *ahem* contents most of the time, what's with that!? Also what's with Cloud slippin his sword into his anus all the time, why not leave it on his back like Zack did?? blink.gif huh.gif And if you watch the way Tifa walks, it looks as though she can barely move at all, so, not good for kickboxing... Barret looks like a meatball with metal bits in it... what's that thing on his waist?? Nanaki's outfit is pretty revealing, course, he's the only one who can get away with it, considering nothing can be seen the way he stands, but how exactly are the tatoos (other than the XIII) 'War scars'? Aeris, could you get pinker!? but I let it slide once in a while because she was rightfully punished by someone who has stuff that actually looks good, long jackets and katana do well together, pink just sucks... Cid is 37 I think, but he looks 55 for the love of god quit the smoking!! Cait Sith, lose the fat thing and the crown, get a cool weapon and he's fine. Vincent... elf shoes, nuff said. did I leave anything out?? thumbup.gif

Hehe, yeah... I always thought that was weird. Sometimes, when I'm playin' an RPG or watchin' my bro play one, I'll see some guy in the town with funky clothng, and I'll run up and point to the screen (if it's my bro playin') and go "PLOT CHARACTER! Talk to the plot character!" and he'll be like... "why?" And I'd go "Because he looks different than all the other peoples!"

And I'd usually be right.

i believe yuffie's sleeve is a nod towards japanese history - i think i read that somewhere - ninjas or somesuch
though vincent's outfit is cool, i wouldnt want to wear it 24/7 - i've worn a cape before, they get quite annoying after awhile

Aeris outfit does bother me. The metal sleeve- things, they look uncomfortable and irritating. Also, she dresses like a sixth grader. Too much pink-red. I think it'd look cuter with a black top instead of red. And come on, mountain boots? Looks more like confused cowgirl than pretty in pink. And the hair, eww. Her outfit in Kingdom Hearts was cute, though!

Tifa's was okay, just a little bland. It wasn't revealing, just flattering (and we all know she needs that. </sarcasm>), a too long of hair! That would get so tangled running around kicking everyone's butt like she does.

Cloud's was fine, but he looked like he was wearing purple in game. XD I understand, color issues, Scotty from Lady and the Tramp was always colored grey for the same reason. Would've looked better dark grey/green/blue, if you ask me! His hair, I didn't enjoy, either. Too animeish!

Yuffie? Umm, whyfor the red pantyhose thigh high/arm warmer, and why only one on each? Cute hair, though, and other than that and the arm armor-thing, cute clothes. ^.^ Kinda reminds me of Rikku's, though, just different colors. And they're both thieves, imagine that!

All in all, better than FFVIII's clothes, but not as cool as FFVI's! biggrin.gif

Their AMANO outfits, sirrah.

Although... Terra's is not quite practical. Maybe for an 80's club. Celes, however, has awesome-cool clothes.

In case no one noticed, the way FFVII is made, it pretty much is anime.(especially considering the definition of aime is animated or animation or movement) Also the FFVII anime coming out with advent children seems to be proof as well. that and the comical diversions from the plot. Also the game was made in and marketed toward Japan. I rest my rant... uhm case I mean. A side note, the Ninja were not as most think of them today, but instead of hiding in the shadows and wearing black etc. they hid in plain sight, dressed as attendants, peasants, farmers, the list goes on. As for weapons, they didn't design the kama, scythe weapon, kukuri, etc. they used them because it was what was on hand at the time. Most of the misconceptions came about from the Samurai, because they were so noble and admired, no one could believe anything short of a superhuman could best one, and that's how the Samurai made themselves look good even in defeat, was to say that the opponent (Ninja) was a godly or demonic force that could become invisible. Really, they would just have thrown dirt in their eyes and ran away. Also the Ninja fought in an opposite ay to the Samurai, they were fast, and used whatever however they needed. The Samurai were often slow due to their equipment, and fought an honorable head on battle, using only their weapons and only how they were meant to be used. But even so I'd choose Samurai over Ninja any day, except when it comes down to Yuffie. Still what's with the unzipped pants, even in kingdom hearts, that poor zipper is neglected(but at least we know how they stay up in that game, FFVII she has no suspenders...!?!? Anyone notice that through extreme research, you can uncover the fact that the reason for Reeve's Turks tuxedo is that he actually is classified as on of the Turks. I've digressed much so in this post, must comment on NPC clothing to make up for it... What about those MPs, what's that thing on their head?? Did anyone know that they have the same cool shoulder guards as Sephiroth? They do, you can see it in one of the FFVII official wall scrolls, It shows Cloud in the MP uniform, Sephiroth, and Zack with both of the SOLDIER shoulder guards. Also you can see them in Ehrgeiz which has the MP uniform as one of the unlockable outfits for Cloud. Oh yeah, and again with Red's outfit... forgot to mention that he's a dog cat thing...

well, yuffie is supposed to be an average japanese teenager with ninja tendencies, if you ask me - i mean, come on, nobody has seen highschool kids look something like her? take away the sleeve and the shruikens, and plop her down in a school, and you'd think "huh, shes kinda weird" but other then that, you wouldnt really notice her

You may laugh at this but I actually thought Yuffie's arm was broken and she had it in some kind of sling! But she was such a great fighter, she ignores the handicap. It seems I've been wrong all these years!

What about that yellow gauntlet (if that's the right word) Vincent wears? Weird...
I think the strangest thing though, would be the size of Cloud's sword. I couldn't imagine him being able to weild that without insane strength. blink.gif

And some people do go on about how Aeris and Tifa dress like sluts... what garbage! There is nothing wrong with what they are wearing.

They only person you could say something like this about is RedXIII, as Siverlance points out, in his very humourous way. thumbup.gif

in my mind at least, i always imagined vincent's "gauntlet" to be an artificial arm, or maybe an mecanical enhancer - he shoots with that hand, right?
cuz, you know, barret talks about throwing away an artificial arm

Yeah It seemed to me that Vincents arm was made of bronze or something, and thats its mechanical, which could also be the reason why he uses a "gun", a comparitively more modern weapon comepared to fists, sword, staff etc.

The reason why Cloud can swing that sword around without breaking his arms is the Mako enhancements and such, so I guess that's logical. Physically, it's the reason why Cloud is stronger than anyone else in the game.

has anybody noticed in like FMVs and FFVII advent of children trailers, cloud really is skinny, like I think he has the weakest build of any character in FF [not including the children, and most of the women] strange isn't it, but oh well, its when they expanded past the good ole SNES and our pixelated characters thumbup.gif

Really, strength is hardly determined by how big your muscles are, + he has deh speed man! while mass x velocity = force, force x velocity = damage out teh wazoo dude. And considering the size of his zanbatou-esque weapons, it looks like this: frickin huge x pretty damn quick = really powerful, really powerful x pretty damn quick = dear GOD my life is only a world of PAIN!!!

See what I'm saying math starved FFVII fans?

i quite honestly cant see anything wrong with tifas clothes. she is an attractive computerized graphic and i think she would look great in anything. While we are on the subject of clothing, what on earth is up with vincents arm? is it a glove or metal?

the whole force times velocity...you need to be going pretty fast to notice the difference, like bullets

and where did you get that pic?

And vincent supposedly has a metal arm, some part in the game when you do the quest to get vincent, the note says he was experimented on

In the scene where sephiroth dies (holding jenova's head), did anyone notice his Masamune had a pure white blade, instead of the dar gray it is most of the time?

The pic is something that I made especially to use on Tifa's Lover... 5 mins or so... I have been messin' around with the character models in the game, reassembling, animating, etc., so that eventually, I wil have a prequel to FFVII of my own design... Iz gunna be bout Sephiroth and how he proved (through the ranks of SOLDIER) that he was a successful expriment. Gameplay will be similar to FFTactics, except you'll be able to do non-battling stuff, more like a real RPG, like FFVII. BUT, don't be gettin' your hopes up, it won't be anywhere near a beta or even test version anytime soon.

Sephiroth
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
didn't die, he got frozen in Mako, sheesh! B^)

I have a copy of EGM 2 (the sister magazine they had for a while for some completely unknown reason) with walkthrough of FF7, in it is an enlarged pic of Vincent's battle sprite in it. His left arm is robotic/mechanical and ends in big claws, his right arm is the arm he shoots his gun with, and which is a normal arm.

Cloud -- turtleneck and sleeveless sweaters and suspenders are NOT cool. C'mon.
Tifa -- Fabulous.
Aeris -- Somewhat revealing like Tifa's due to the gigantic slit in the front instead of the side.
Barret -- Ghetto Biker to the max, although according to Advent Children he also wears a fishnet shirt, what the heck?
Cait Sith -- I never realized there he was the cat until many a year later.
Cid -- What's great is he keeps wearing his flight helmet the entire game even though the Lil' Bronco busts first thing and you don't get the airship until quite a bit later.
Vincent -- Coolies.
Yuffie -- I always though her one arm was mechanical like her one leg, but otherwise it might be some sort of weird elongated sleeve.
