Hello. I'm looking for a reasonably priced copy of FF7. Not sure if someone would want to help out a fellow CoN member. I'd greatly appreciate it. I had the game when I was younger but never beat it. I would like the chance once again. Thanks for reading!

Well I have three copies somehow... 0.o how much would you want to pay and where do you live? You could always look at a website like Amazon or something too

I checked AmaCoN for you just in case, and it's definitely pricey. But if you want to go that route and kick some cash CoN's way by buying from there, here you go:

Thanks Rangers but $58 is a little higher than I was hoping to pay. Anything I buy from Amazon in the future will be through AmaCoN, I promise.

ktk, I don't want to offer you too low of a price here and have you feel like I'm lowballing you but I am hoping for a bargain. What do you think would be fair? I live in Casper, WY, so I would have to pay for shipping too. $30 maybe? Like I said I'm not trying to insult you or rip you off or anything. Let me know what you're thinking.

=] That sounds reasonable. Thing is, im living in New Zealand so Im not too sure how to go about all the postage and stuff etc.

Also, how badly would you be wanting the proper case and manual. I could get them to you but I might have to search around a couple peoples houses to track them down. =/ Everyone steals my games XD

It's usually available used at GameStop, Gamerz Planet, etc, and especially at local shops. Usually anywhere from 20-30 dollars.

Also, there's most likely going to be a remake by 2017 (20th anniversary), so I might hold off if I were you.

New Zealand? Hmmm. Poses a new set of problems. I don't even know how much shipping would be. I'll check into it and get back with you. Also, I'd prefer to have a case and manual with the game.

Yelanates, my local GameStop and EB Games do not carry any PS1 games. I called every pawn shop in a 50 mile radius, no dice. The only place that has it is an independent retailer here in town. $70 used. No way. I'd prefer to play the game in the next 8 years, so waiting for 2017 isn't an option either.

Well, if you want a game from New Zealand, I hope you have the machine to play it. New Zealand is a PAL region, and PAL games won't work on systems in east Asia, North America, or South America.

Thank you for bringing that to my attention. That would've been an issue.

Quick update - Went to Game Doctors today to check out the copy of FF7 they have. Faded cover, scratched 3rd disc. The guy said he didn't think it'd have any problems but he would resurface it for a nominal fee. I mentioned that since I was paying SEVENTY F@#%ING DOLLARS for the game he should resurface it for free. He seemed pretty perturbed. I'm considering trading some games to him for it though. Maybe I'll call him tomorrow and try to work a deal.

Final update - Traded some crap, bought the game. He raped me on my trades, but oh well. He didn't want to resurface it since it's black label. He said if he did it would remove all the prtective coating. Oh well. Hopefully it plays. Thanks to all for your help. I'll hurry and finish ff6 so I can jump into 7.

I'm pretty sure the region code number has to be the same (1-8). Just because your player is PAL and the disc is PAL does not mean they will match and work together.

Seems academic now, but the PSX doesn't use DVD region codes. Like the SNES, the only region territories are Japan NTSC, US/Canada NTSC, and PAL.

Whoa! Are you serious? What the heck happened? When I bought a new "greatest hits" copy for a few years ago it was $19.99! I'm going to guess that when it was still manufactured retailers couldn't sell it in bulk at that price relative to the demand, but when Squenix stopped making it the demand relative to the supply increased and used copy sellers took that as an opportunity to drive the price through the roof.

There's an independent place in my (not very large) city that always has a copy (sometimes two) for 35 dollars. blink.gif

There are quite a few greatest hits copies on the web for 14.99 and 19.99. My guess would be that it isn't a greatest hits copy you are looking at. It's still not uncommon to find them that cheap. What is uncommon is finding them in a store. Not many places (near me anyway) still have many PS1 games available.

My question would be, do they have a greatest hits in PAL? All the PAL versions I've found so far are black labeled and pretty high.

I couldn't even find a complete Greatest Hits edition for less than $40-ish plus shipping. And that was on eBay.

Wow... There were a few yesterday that were pretty cheap. I guess they got bid up pretty high. It has been a long time since I went off looking for a copy. I didn't realize how expensive it got. The cheapest copy on ebay (buy it now price) is a Japanese copy (weird, aren't they normally higher?), and a couple at the bottom of the page with one bid that are around $20. Still, I have only found a couple that are PAL. Most that I've see are NTSC. The only PAL copies I could find were THESE.
As you can see, they aren't cheap.

I have a Disc 2 and 3 that works fine, can't say the same for the first disc. sad.gif
If you have access to disc one I'd be willing to send them free, hopefully not too much for shipping for me. I wouldn't make someone pay for 2/3s of a game.

I might take you up on that offer. I could even send some money for shipping or something. My disc 3 is pretty scratched up... let me know if you're up for sending them to me. Thanks.

For people that still can't find FF7 for a good price online or in stores, I noticed that it's available as a download for $9.99 on the Playstation Store for PS3.

Is this true? I'd never know FF7, despite being so nostalgic and dated, is still as expensive as Dissidia... I bought mine for about 5 euros last year. Now I know it was a bargain.

lol. So you're afraid of torrents. It's not like you own or are responsible for the sale or manufacturing of the game. Why the hell should you care anyways. Just get the game without buying it. No one reads forum rules anyways, because no one expects to get posts deleted for stupid mods who have torrent-phobia.

I'm sure you'll have an excellent time at whatever site you visit next, then. This isn't the thread to explain to you why our rules are how they are, though we have plenty of fine reasons. If you can help the original poster acquire a legal copy of FF7, go for it - if not, please stop taking the thread off topic.

Yeah, I've seen 'em go for higher than that for a mint black label copy. I can't imagine what an unopened copy would go for.

Thanks, I appreciate the thought. I'm wondering if FFVII's release on PSN has dropped the value of the hard copy of the game. Anyone notice?
