First of all, I've heard a lot of speculation as to who Gogo could be. Personally, I think s/he IS someone we've met before. I'm just not sure who.

Rachel: After Locke finds the Phoenix Magicite, we are treated to Rachel's death scene as Phoenix reanimates her long enough to assay Locke's fears and guilt. I'm willing to accept the argument that instead of bringing Rachel back, Phoenix reincarnated her as Gogo, so Locke was right and Phoenix does bring people back to life. Phoenix gave her the name Gogo because the Ancient Kurdish word for whore is racel, and a gogo dancer is a term for a stripper.
That seems like a good theory, UNTIL you realise: You can recruit Gogo before Locke resurrects Rachel, and how can someone exist twice at once?

An Esper: This isn't a bad one. After the Sealed Gate was opened and all the Espers escaped, whose to say that Gogo didn't land on Triangle Island just in time to be swallowed by a Zone Eater, or used his esper gifts to travel underground (after all, Terrato was probably able to do that) This might also explain how Gogo learns spells as soon as the other party members do; the Esper-telepathy that we see Maduin using in the flashback to Terra's birth allows him to learn the magic that his brother Espers are teaching the other party members. Perhaps he chose to remain underground when he sensed Gestahl's plans against his kind. That's why he says "I have been idle for too long", he's saying "I've watched my people's plight and done nothing for too long."
Another thing he says is "I am Gogo, master of the simulacrum." Simulacria is an occult practice in which the occultist calls upon the god Janus to give him the appearance or skills of another person. Is that perhaps Gogo's esper skill, just like Phantom's invisibility or Ifrit's pyrokinesis? Mimicry?

Banon: I see no reason why Banon should particularly be Gogo. Granted, Banon is in WoB and Gogo is in WoR, but the same is true of Vicks and Wedge or the nanny in Figaro Castle.
How did Banon become Gogo?
1-He was looking more Returners in remote areas when the world was torn apart, and the piece of land he was standing on broke away and became Triangle Island. Wandering around, a Zone Eater eventually took a liking to Banon.

2-Upset after the 'deaths' of his Returners, Banon heard about Cyan still being alive, and went to find him. However, the newly freed Storm Dragon found him first and Banon was hurled, half-dead, into the ocean, and washed up on Triangle Island.

Both plausible, but a) how did Banon get the Gogo robes? and b)Why did Banon lose the power to heal and learn to mimic instead? And where did he get that kind of power?

Baram: Possible. After Shadow's refusal to kill him, Baram was captured by the Imperial guards (or whoever was chasing them in Shadow's dream) and is takenprisoner somewhere secret. When the WoR is created, Baram escapes, but is eaten by a Zone Eater and ends up under Triangle Island. Not sure how he gets the mimicry powers, though, and Gogo doesn't talk much like Baram either.

Daryl: I like the idea of Daryl being Gogo. It all makes sense:
1- The Falcon crashed into Triangle Island.
2- The impact made Daryl lose her memory of Setzer (this is why she doesn't immediately recognize him when the two are in a party together)
3-Setzer himself says "We never found her body" Why? Because she was eaten by a Zone Eater.
So, imprisoned underground, without a memory, Daryl reshapes her clothes (same colours) and calls herself Gogo (I believe she or Setzer says something like "Go! Go!" when they are flying together or at some point). While underground on Triangle Island, she encounters some mysterious power (and we all know they do exist in FF land) which grants her this great power of instant mimicry. This mysterious force also creates those green-clad guards hopping around in the caves until someone worthy of Gogo's power arrives.

My opinion..........Daryl and Gogo are THE SAME PERSON!

Please can everyone who reads this thread please give me some opinion on it as I think these are pretty good theories. smile.gif

"Daryl and Gogo are THE SAME PERSON"

Of course! I mean, other than there being absolutely no hints in the game proving it, it makes perfect sense! Everyone forgets their memories in crashes. Distant lands are, without a doubt, Triangle Island without fail. Setzer saying "Go! Go!" is a VERY solid piece of evidence supporting Daryll's new name. Of course, it's not as though all this and the mysterious force are attempts to patch together a theory built from end-to-start as opposed to start-to-end following actual clues the game gives. And there's no way, ever, to even feel a sense of familiarity with someone. There being no cutscene between Setzer and Gogo also supports this theory, quite vehemently: Square NEVER hints at anything, like Shadow and Relm's connection for instance.

It goes without saying that Gogo simply being "a character" without any actual ties to anyone or maybe even the Gogo from FF5 who X-Zones himself away at the end of the fight are NOT more reasonable theories at all. smile.gif

Sorry for the sarcasm, but this has been done to death. The plausibility of any of this is non-existent. It boils down to a series of guesses, none of which have any hard evidence backing them up and are quite a stretch of the imagination...

Edit: Gogo is a 'he' by the way. A "master" of the simulacrum is not a "mistress" of the simulacrum. If by your account the only reasonable possibility is of Gogo being Daryll, unless the "mysterious force" ™ also gave her a sex-change operation, we can safely settle on him not being a known character from the FF3 world and lay this to rest now, can we? smile.gif

The Baram thing sorta makes sense. Maybe the empire experimented on him, trying to infuse him with an esper. After all, why use someone important as test subject when you can use someone you were gonna kill anyways?

1-If we waited for rock-hard evidence on everything and never made any leaps of the imagination, where would the fun in life be?

2-At no point did I insinuate that amnesia is by any means a regular occurence, i merely said that it may have happened in such a manner.

3-I spent a decent chunk of time putting together all those theories, "plausible" or not, and for you to simply stomp all over something I invested some time in (with an apparent sense of enjoyment and oh, perhaps, bitterness on your part) betrays something worrying. I wrote this purely for fun and as an exercise in hypothetical thinking. If you don't like it, fine, but dont take it out on me, mate. I'm not responsible for how you think of something.

Oh, and, a simple "Sorry for the sarcasm" doesn't suddenly turn whatever else you said into a harmless joke.

As for "plausible", did it not occur to you that a world populated by little cuddly white dancing creatures and kings with mechanical castles might a little less than "plausible" in the first place. Suspend you disbelief, dearie.

Ah, I've just read your edit. The title's 'master' and 'mistress' are not always gender-oriented. Thusly are female military officers referred to as 'Sir' and not 'Miss'. Furthermore, as an add-on to the 'simulacra' thing (which is, as I said, an occult practice) a 'master' of any magical practice is referred to as a master rather than a mistress except in certain branches of the Black Arts.
