Hi again!
More questions here: 1. After WoB, rumours say that Gestahl and Leo's coming back, is that really true? 2. In Daaryl's tomb, there's a room with with a tombstone to carve in something, and a room with several tombs that already have carvings... anyone knows what their purpose is? 3. What's up with the books that lies in cyans chest in the mountain over Zozo? 4. Kefka's immune to any hits or spells right after peace is decleared with the espers, when he's starting to collect them. Any chance you guys have find a way how to that? -------------------- 'The hair, watch the hair man!' -Mog |

1. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no and just for good measure, no
![]() 2. You find words written backwards and "carve" them onto the tombstone. If you do this the game gives you a hint that helps you find an Exp. Egg. 3. Nobody knows but they don't do anything for gameplay. They could possibly be story fodder to explain how Cyan got over his fear of machines. Also, I've heard that in FF VIj the "book of secerets" is a porno mag in the japanese version. That sounds so out of character for Cyan though, especialy considering his reaction to that NPC who asked him to dance with her. 4. I've heard that Kefka has a Paladin Shield. I'm not sure if its true but that's what I've heard. Maybe a high MBlock is involved. . . . Edit Forgot the porno mag bit. 1. Nope, not true
2. You find the blank tomb and carve "The World is Square" into it. However, it will be spelt backwards which nets you an exp egg. 3. I heard that the books enable you to have more abilities when you're in Cyan's dream in the Magitek soldier outfits. I'm not sure though. (Edit: Go with what Tonepoet said) 4. I'm not sure what you're asking for this question... do you mean find a way to fight the espers, or absorb spells when they're cast on you? 3. I've heard speculation that the 'Book of Machinery' was intended at some point to teach Cyan the Tools command so that he could switch between Tools and SwdTech or something like that, but no concrete information has surfaced regarding that. Apart from that, all you get is plot/character development.

1. No.
2. Exp. Egg hint, get it by writing "The world is square" backwards (the other tombstones have the pieces for it). 3. Probably an explanation as to how Cyan gets over his fear of machines at the end of the game, as previously stated. The Book of Secrets is indeed the porno mag in FF6j. Popular rumor says it could have been the piece of paper at the Returner's Hideout as well, but from what I've heard, it's a Japanese cultural joke that us foriegners typically won't get. 4. Thamasa Kefka is surprisingly Kefka's most powerful point. He has 80 Vigor, Speed, Stamina, and Mag.Pwr, and along with his typical Morning Star and Ribbon, he also carries a Paladin Shld. Kefka has natural 60 Evade and M.Block, with the Paladin Shld enhancing that to 100. His Defense and Mag.Def naturally are at 180, with the Paladin Shld, 239. IOW, you had good reason to believe he was immune to attack. ![]() The only thing I can think of to top Kefka's defense in every way (not just one or two stats) would be Equip Anything in FF6j. Give Gau Illumina, Paladin Shld, Tent, Drill, and two Zephyr Capes. 255 Defense (Drill) and 255 Mag.Def (Tent) cover actual hits taken, and the 110 Evade/M.Block from equipment, combined with Gau's 21 Evade and 18 M.Block, give him 131 Evade and 128 M.Block. Yeah, yeah, Evade doesn't work, I know, but if you wanted to top Kefka in every concievable way, this is how you would do it. -------------------- |

I've always wondered, how does "THE WORLD IS SQUARE" point you to the Exp. Egg? I just happened to get lucky and find it without using the tombstones.
Gestahl appears in the World of Ruin in a portrait, but alas, this is all. He is dead. It is the portrait of Gestahl (in Jidoor) which gives you the hint where the Phoenix Cave is located. -------------------- "I will create a monument to nonexistence!!" The only reason the west 'don't get' the porno mag joke is because it was removed from almost all RPGs released in the west, so we never got the trend.
But as ref points you can usually find the 'porno mag' or hints to it that make the Japs go AHAHAHAHAHA! ...and not just Square did it... however it doesn't happen much these days, although it 'sometimes' does. ~FF Mags (That I remember) FFIV: Gotten as the item 'Smut' FFV: Bartz looks fora 'playboy' mag, but can't find one. FFVI: Cyan's book of secrets. (duh) FFVIII: The 'girl next door' mag ~Others (again, off the top o' me head) Tales of Phantasia: The weakest book weapon. Bahamut Lagoon: Buy it, it's crap. Sailormoon: It restores HP or some crap. Disgaea: Archangle Volcanus finds it "this page...all these pages!". Disgaea was the last game to relive the trend that I remember. -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |

Yes, I know about the other FF referances. Maybe not the ones from the other games you pointed out but the FF ones I've read about (and even spotted in VIII). I still think it is out of character for Cyan to have smut, even if it is locked inside of a chest. Now Edgar on the other hand, well . . . Strange that Cyan is the one to have it is all I have to say on the subject.
Quote (Adam) I've always wondered, how does "THE WORLD IS SQUARE" point you to the Exp. Egg? I just happened to get lucky and find it without using the tombstones. Well, for people who haven't solved the puzzle or found the egg yet, I'll put this in spoilers. Possible spoilers: highlight to view Does that answer your question? Directly "ERAUQS SI DLROW EHT" it has nothing to do with it. It is only after you solve the puzzle that you get the hint. The hint is in a seaperate text box and says something like its hidden in the basement or something to that effect. So Kefka does have a Paladin Shield and a high MBlock to boot. This seems to be a nice pointer onto how the shield got cursed in the first place. Then again, you're not supposed to know that Kefka has the Paladin Shield in the first place so meh. By the way, that defense is absolutly amazing Master Zed. It beats your average Snow Muffler Mog any day. Too bad Kefka isn't a playable character. Or is it? ![]() This post has been edited by Tonepoet on 2nd February 2005 03:52 -------------------- |

Perhaps I phrased this wrongly, so I'll restate; popular rumor could have you believe that the piece of paper is actually the porno mag (or a different one), but it isn't. The paper is simply a cultural joke for Japanese players. Or so I hear. Edit Tonepoet: Even if you could get him in the course of normal play, Kefka's not playable as he has no commands. Ah, I misread. Hmm, I can't remember the piece of paper. ^^
On another note: I doubt that the other book was to ever teach him the Tools command. It would take away the point of Edgar would it not? Not counting Gogo they just don't work like that. Not that I'm saying they didn't plan to use it, just not for that. -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |

Quote Ah, I misread. Hmm, I can't remember the piece of paper. ^^ It's when you are at the Returners HQ at the beginning of the game. When you are walking around exploring, you might come across a piece of paper on the ground. You can either leave it there, or choose to throw it away. If you leave it there, then when the Returners have their meeting, at the very beginning, Banon will spot the piece of paper and get mad, saying "Who left this crap here?" or something like that, and then it goes as usual. Of course, if you're like me, you never see the meeting because you keep saying "No" to Banon to get the Genji Glove. But before I knew about that, I had seen the "piece of paper" skit. It's really just a useless bit of story fluff, but it's fun nonetheless. -------------------- Kupo! |

Say no once, then go to the treasure room and talk to the Returner there. He'll give you the Genji Glove. You can then see the meeting as usua, along with the piece of paper scenel. And no, you won't get the Gauntlet if you do this. -------------------- |
