The most annoying/hardest and un-beatable game I've ever played is Fester's Quest for NES. Those damn blob things got me everytime.

Hmm... I think in order to get an accurate count, I'd have to see a game list or something. Here it goes anyways...

NES

Any Adventures of Lolo
Any (NES) Adventure Island
Final Fantasy (the battery didn't hold a save)
King's Quest V
Magic of Scheherazade
Punch Out (I was always slaughtered in that game)
Star Tropics (didn't play it long enough)
Twin Cobra (actually owned it till someone never gave it back to me when I let them borrow it)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Willow

Genesis (I didn't own one, but I had a friend who did)

Beavis and Butthead
Ecco the Dolphin
Any Phantasy Star game

SNES

Illusion of Gaia (borrowed it from a friend)
Bahamut Lagoon (just haven't played it again)
Final Fight
Lagoon
Lufia 2
Shadowrun
UN Squadron
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (I sent in a code to GamePro for this game, and it was published!)

Took me a long time to beat

Deja Vu (NES)
Shadowgate (NES)
Uninvited (NES)
Little Ninja Bros (NES, because I would always rent it)
Maniac Mansion (NES, someone lost the copy from the video store!)
Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom (NES, I started playing this in 1990 but couldn't get past one of the places till recently)

Jim Powers and the Lost Dimension in 3-D (or something like that) (SNES) - A terrible game. Rips off Contra and a few other action classics.

Global Defense (Sega Master System) - I can never save the world...

Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES) - The werewolves always got me. And those chainsaw guys. No fun lol.

Dino City (SNES) - Died on the last stage.

Super Double Dragon (SNES) - Ditto

Final Fight (SNES) - Only one-player, and no Guy (!!!). Even with the extra 1-Ups code I would die.

I know this ones way back on the first page but,
[QUOTE] I get knocked by some bad guy, lose my coveted golden armor, land directly on a firebomb weapon. Firebombs suck in that game. I swore so loudly that my sister ran in to ask if I hurt myself or not. I did hurt myself... deep inside... Alright, I was just extremely pissed.[QUOTE]
LMFAO!!!! Man, CoN forums never ceases to make me fall on the floor laughing in class... also getting in trouble...

Shinobi for ps2 WOW insane game but for some reason ill let it sit for a few months then ill play for a bit and for some wierd reason ill BAM beat a boss.... then im just stuck on the next one... sad.gif

Why is everyone hating on FFIX? It's not boring, if at all the Chocobo Hot & Cold and the Tetra Master games (although TM is pointless with no rewards) make the game addicting, I love it, anyway back on topic:

Secret of Evermore (SNES) Just couldn't get a grasp on the whole alchemy system

Secret of Mana (SNES) I just kinda stopped playing it, kind of boring after a while

Breath of Fire II (SNES) GodDamn was this game friggin hard! I somehow managed to get to the final boss and I'm stuck there, there were battles every 5 seconds during the whole game, even then you don't level up easily. If it weren't for the fishing minigame I'd call this game a waste.

Mortal Kombat II (SNES) Kintaro is just too damn hard

Jurassic Park (Both SNES and Genises) Just too long and hard

I remember playing Zombies ages ago, and I got to level 40 or so after renting it like five times in a row. Awhile later I looked online and discovered that there are around fifty or sixty levels, but my local Blockbuster stopped carrying SNES games around that time and I could never find it again. Too bad.

There is only one game I have really had that much trouble beating, ff9, mostly because my save is stuck and the next closest one I have is about three hours behind it. Looking over the list I see many of my favorite games that you all can't seem to beat. Saw at least one terranigma and illusion of gaia, pm me if you need help with either.

If I recall correctly zombies ate my neighbors had 60 levels. As I remember...I had to actually start about 10 levels back from then end just to have enough extra lives saved up to beat the last boss. He was rediculous to say the least. This is one of the greatest SNES games of all time. Much respect to the zombies ate my neighbors.

OMG. Worst. Game. Ever.
I used my GameShark like mad, and I STILL can't beat it. It's completely unplayable. Not only is it hard, but it is so poorly designed, not even codes can help you finish a stage.

Mega Man X-I played it alot when I first had a SNES (1st grade-7th grade) and I'd always get all the power-ups, even the fireball, but I could never beat Sigma. I got a copy from a friend recently, and now that I'm WAYYYY better at video games, I can probably handle it. I just need that damn fireball!

Super Ghouls n' Ghosts- The farthest I've gotten is the second level. sad.gif

Starfox-Words...cannot describe...the difficulty...what really pisses me off is getting so far on the last planet, dying, and starting at the very beginning (outside the last planet)

Illusion of Gaia-Got to Gaia, but didn't have enough herbs...

EarthBound-got to the part where everyone becomes a robot, but I thought I wasn't prepared enough and started over...I don't think I got far on new file before my SNES was taken away and my games were sold...

FF IV-Hardest FF ever. Especially on the PS1 version.

Super Mario Bros. 2- I don't think I've even SEEN the final boss. Nope, haven't seen 'em.

Crash Bandicoot-The most frustrating game ever made.

Time Crisis-I always run out of continues before the end.

Banjo Kazooie-Is there any end to the end boss?

That's just off the top of my head, I could look through all my games, but do I really want to embarass myself anymore?

You guys are so gonna laugh at me, but here I go...

Fire Emblem- All my guys keep dying! I can't seem to come out of a level with all my characters alive! My Tactics rating is plummeting!!! *cries* I'll never get to the end....

Final Fantasy Tactics- Queklain.... Riovanes Castle.... Wiegraf..... these locations and enemies taunt me to no end.... I even have nightmares.... I wake up nights screaming "NO! PLEASE DON'T KILL ME [insert any enemy from list above]!!!" Naw, I'm kidding. But that is how hard this game feels.

EDIT: Hold on, there are two more: Tekken and Soulblade. I cannot seem to finish Taki's Edge Master missions, and don't even get me started on Tekken's Arcade Mode.

Hah, I remember Taki's Edge Master mode. Hers and Mitsurugi's EM modes were real b*tches because in one mission of each of their quests you had to pull off a Critical Edge attack. No fair.

King of Fighters 2001

A little intro. KoF'01 allows you to fight with up to 4 characters together (one at a time, though). Typically, you fight 4 opponents, so they're 4-character teams with 1-on-1 fights. You can also sacrifice a character to use them as a reserve character to pull off special moves; the computer usually fights with 3 characters and a reserve (called a striker in this game.)

When you lose and continue, you have the choice of giving a handicap to your opponent, ranging from filling up your special move gauge to reducing all of their characters' health down to 1/3.

However, the final fights are fought against just one character. Four vs. one might seem a little mismatched, huh? You wish.

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
The final boss, Igniz, can wipe the floor with all of your team even when reduced to 1/3 health with a continue service. He can not only do it in just a few moments, but with styyyyle.

For one thing, he has very insane air-counter moves. That rules out leaping at him, unless you're very fast and very lucky. He also has quite a long reach and attacks that span roughly 1-2 frames of animation because of their speed. And, basically, an infinit combo where he keeps you up in the air and whips you down to nothingness. While you're just plain unlucky to get caught by that, it doesn't happen very often. What does, however, is a move he can use pretty much at will.

Imagine this. Your character just took a single hit. Then suddently the screen inverts and you get slammed into the wall and whipped. Before you can recover, you're jabbed by the last boss' cape for about 16 hits. Your health plummets, but there's still quite a lot left. You're now stunned as part of the animation, and get slammed by a series of energy bursts for a few more hits. You've lost over half your health so far (!) Finally, you're hit by a massive orb of energy that sucks away everything you've got left. You're dead. Total damage: over 80% of your life bar. Unblockable, and very hard to dodge as it's often a counter.

Oh yeah. One hit ticks away a tiny notch off from his health bar. A special ticks away about as much as a weak punch would against a normal enemy.

It's actually possible to beat him. I've yet to do it. I'm more likely to bite a quarter in half.

Yeah, the KoF series really likes to pour on the difficulty.

The most difficult fighting games I've ever played were either my arcade emulation of KoF '97 (which I'm pretty sure was only in arcades and for Neo-Geo), where the final boss is Iori in Orochi mode, which at level 10 is pretty much impossible to defeat, or Guilty Gear X for the Dreamcast, where that stupid Justice boss can't comprehend the concept of fairness at any difficulty.

EDIT: Before you say something along the lines of "lol fighting games emulated is a bad idea omg," keep in mind I was using a Neo-Geo USB arcade pad with a joystick, hence making all of my arcade meme games awesomer.

ha, spy hunter, I would always go back to that and see how far I could get. I'm sure there must be an ending... but how many people got there? There were some cool boss cars which would usually mean you would be guaranteed to lose a life, unless you could be both very skillfull and lucky at the same time.
Special weapons from the trucks were fun.

Final fantasy9 too boring??? Yikes, I really enjoyed that and the comedy in it is hilarious, oh well.

I was about to open a forum just like this one, when I forgot that one already existed and I even posted here before. Yikes! Anyways, I forgot about 3 games that I could not beat, probably outta boredom or something else but they are FF1, FFII, and Metal Gear Solid. These are cool games that I encourage, but I can't seem to get through them. Keep in mind, that I've never gotten very far in either of them. Maybe one day I'll get to 'em, but right now I'm focusing on replaying FFT (of course), FFVII, and getting a new copy of FFVIII.

I simply cannot beat Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox. I must have extremely poor reflexes or something - having spent too much time playing RPG's.

Sonic Heroes
Okay, so I beat it with the easy team, but that took forever. I couldn't beat it with the other three teams, and hence couldn't unlock the true ending. The problem was it was way, way, way too easy to die. And not from the enemies... oh, no, those robotisized critters are still a joke as always. No, its the inherate problem of combining Sonic speed with Mario platforming: you simply tap a button, and whoever is in the elad will suddenly go flying... right off the platform your standing on. Sonic moves to fast its virtually impossible not to overshoot your mark and or land, then hit a button and go flying over the edge. And that's not even gettinginto the nightmarish Rail Grinding level: virtually the entire level is a bottomless pit with the only thing keeping you from falling to death is a set of thin rails you need to jump back and forth on... and low and behold you can easily overshoot, or land on the wrong spot, or the wrong angle and slip right off. It really sucked, because I was looking forward to this game alot. *sigh*

Games I know I'll never beat:
Mercenaries - I spend too much time blowing stuff up and doing whatever I please that I'll probably never get around to achieving the final mission before I get tired of this game.

Shin Megami Tensie: Any Game in the Series - Its one of the most original and innovative RPGs series I've ever seen, but Nocturne is the only one I can stand to play because I hate the first-person perspective dungeon crawling of all the others. But even Nocturne, with its pretty graphics and third person perspective, is just too long and complicated for me to take in its full potential.
Okay, so I did beat the Demikids games, but only cuz I Gamesharked my way through it, so I could beat it ASAP without random battles... so I can't really count that as a real playthrough. I really love this monster and mythology-themed, post-apocolyptic series, though; whether I beat it or not, its got a magic to it I just can;t find anywhere else.

There are tons of other games that I've not beaten out of eventual boredom, or I simply am burnt out on the game style. Vexx, Ratchet and Clank, Champions of Norrath, A Bard's Tale, Diablo II, Final Fantasy X-2, and Final Fantasy II just to name a few. But I'm not sure if those count... I could beat them eventually, I just can't bring myself to care enough.

I've recently been playing Sonic 3, and I've already hit not one, but TWO spots that I had trouble getting past. The first was in one of the acts of the zone with the arrow-shooting faces; there's a place you can get to that you can't quite get out of, and I had to wait until the I hit the 10-minute mark to get a time up and restart the level. The second was in Casino Night Zone, Act 2, where I just can't get one of those stupid bouncy platforms to go low enough so I can get to the rest of the level. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please feel free to PM me.

(I hate badly designed games.)

(And also, speaking of Sonic 3, I think I finally broke the sound emulation on my AGES emulator. Something happened in Wood Man's stage of Mega Man: the Wily Wars...)
