I'm trying for an all-Rages all-Lores game, since I figure any self-respecting FF6 geek should accomplish that (...once). I'm getting fairly close and so am now running around various areas looking for enemies I missed. It took me forever to find Pug in Umaro's cave, but I finally found him. Now, though, I'm having a heck of a time running into Aquila in the Phoenix Cave.
In the upper (lava-free) level of the cave, all I can find are: Phase, Phase Trixter, Trixter, Necromancer Phase, Parasoul, Necromancer, Necromancer In the lower (lava-filled) level, all I can find are: Trixter, Trixter, Trixter Sea Flower x5 Chaos Drgn, Uroboros, Sea Flower, Sea Flower Uroboros, Sea Flower, Sea Flower Is there a particular area that I need to be wandering around? Any other advice? |

The very first cave map of phoenix cave has aquillas, if you hang around enough and fight enough battles.

This is that bird I'm betting, right? I have a rough time getting one to appear when I want one too. I'd reccomend that you stick to the upper area of the cave, before the lava. Other then that, be patient, one will pop up eventualy. As long as you're looking for one, bring Locke with you. I haven't tried it myself but I've heard you can steal Econimizers from them somtimes.

Yes, you can steal economizers from them, but if I recall correctly you have a higher chance of stealing phoenix down from them. I've only ever stolen about... 3 or 4 from them, and that was when I was trying to get in fights with them.

Ok, they are in fact in the upper part of the cave, as I finally found one there after nearly fighting enough battles to uncurse the Cursed Shield. Yay for probability.
Thanks for the help. ![]() |

BTW, a way to make the battles on the Veldt come a bit faster is to use the GG code D0A4-876D, <hides from a torrent of flames> which gives you a battle at every step. It doesn't give you all the Rages, or do anything other than take out the waiting/walking time between battles, so it's not REALLY cheating, is it? I know I get really tired of the cursed Veldt theme (about the only FFVI song I don't like), and walking in circles on the Veldt is overly tedious. So this cuts down that time greatly!

Quote (Keith @ 16th January 2005 21:17) The very first cave map of phoenix cave has aquillas, if you hang around enough and fight enough battles. Correct. Enter the Phoenix Cave, enter through the first little section by bringing one character up on the platform/switch and standing/staying on it. Now bring your next group through the archway/door and make the first left turn that you can. There is a short set of stairs (1 game square in size) right there. Right near those stairs you can encounter the Aquila formation. Aquila L49 Common item steal=Phoenix Down (87.5%) Rare item steal=Economizer (12.5%) second option Brachosaur L77 ie harder to steal from, but each combat there is the opportunity to steal Ribbons and win an Economizer. Common item steal=nothing (87.5%) Rare item steal=Ribbon (12.5%) Common item win=nothing (87.5%) Rare item win=Economizer (12.5%) This post has been edited by Detah on 19th January 2005 02:28 |
