Personally, I'd rather they work on FFIIIj instead of any of these already-multply-re-released games, like FFIV and FFVI.

Wow, that one's a surprise. I figured that the recent trend of remaking/sequeling FF games would place FF IIIj next in line to be rendoe and sent over to the states, but I guess I was mistaken.
However, now that this is getting done there is no doubt in my mind that the US is getting FF IIIj. Dawn of Souls was a strong seller if I'm not mistaken, and the addition of yet another holiday season FF rehash only confirms that Square is continuing the trend of remaking classics. Mark my words, by this time next year we will have heard of a IIIj release for either GBA or DS. Probably (and hopefully) with the production values of DoS. -------------------- |

GBA FF VI...
It's going to happen pretty soon now. I'm not sure that's a dream or a nightmare considering the PSX release :| But yeah, this is what we could've expected when the GBA came out back then. But like other people I am dissapointed they didn't grab the opportunity of releaseing FF IIIj out there. I realize it's more work, but it would definately have raked in the cash, not to mention the image boost they would've gotten from it (as it stands now, I'm just condemning them for being soulless monsters again, following the pathway of least resistence). -------------------- |

Ehh... I'm not really surprised by that news. I hate FFIV and I always will. But if it's the original version with better stuff, I'll probably think about it.. Prefferably 3D Final Fantasy 5 and Final Fantasy 6.. Heck, I'm starting a topic about that right now!

I thought that they were all done making games for the GBA. This gives me hope for the Mother 1+2 pack.
This article doesn't say much. Does anyone know if this is going to be just like the SNES release, or like the FFC release? Is there a point to getting this if you already have the FFC version? -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

Quote (karasuman @ 16th September 2005 07:02) I thought that they were all done making games for the GBA. This gives me hope for the Mother 1+2 pack. I was one of those who called NoA to petition them to release Mother 1+2 to the US market. Yes, it would be great if they actually did release Mother, but it seems like it's been awhile since we tried that campaign. But I guess at this point you can't say 'never'. I don't think I'm going to invest in a DS (at least for a little while) so hopefully both titles (Mother 1+2 and FFIV) will be ported to the GBA. -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" I always thought that this was connected to the fact that FF IV is saved across two blocks and Chrono Trigger is saved across one block. CT has greater loading times because it's a smaller file with more compression to the data blocks than FF IV. Whatever. SNES CT > PS1 CT, in every way save the awesomeness of the System File and decentness of the Toriyama anime cutscenes. The loading times and audio quality are what bring it down the most prominently. -------------------- |

I realize I'm a few days late posting, but hearing about this makes me want to dig out my GBA that I don't currently have the time to play. I'd certainly make time for this. Might there be some additional content, like extra dungeons, items, side quests, etc? I'd probably buy this game even if all they added was an extra sword or something.
I wonder if they'll ever find the inspiration to make a prequel and/or sequel to any of these classics? Wouldn't a game named FFIV Advance: Kain's Ordeal get monster hype? -------------------- Cannis Rules: Balance of Power - My favourite Yuri's Revenge Mod |

I already posted links to a similar article and the "Final Fantasy IV Advance" website in the news thread a while ago, but seeing that faceplate a second time is really making me wanna consider buying a Game Boy Micro. And I don't even need one!
Took me a couple days to come to a solid decision, but I'm definitely getting this game. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. FFIII is already in the remake works for the DS, so i doubt they'd do one for the GBA. Anyways...This could be prtety interesting. At the very elast, they could up the graphics, and sound a little.

Quote (EtherealMog @ 17th September 2005 17:24) ![]() Well, I heard that they are planning on doing so so we're all in luck. Also, as for FF3's soon-to-be-port on the DS, they're using polygons for the character models so it's going to be a top-veiw 3D game. Personally, I wish they'd have stuck with sprite-based models. |

Yes, bad andy. FFV and VI are being ported to the GBA. There's been a topic all about it in the news forum for a while now, including some screenshots of the new 3D FFIII graphics. In fact, it'd probably be better to discuss things relating to the aforementioned re-releases in that topic rather than in this one, now that they're confirmed.

So it's been nearly two days short of two weeks for this uninhabited thread. Pfffffffffttttt to double posting.
Anyhoo, there's some new info 'bout FFIV Advance for anyone curious, including the launch of a real official website detailing the newest additions to the game. What I find to be the best change mentioned is the ability for players to choose their own parties for the final sequences of the game, I assume between all the surviving playable characters. W00t to that! This post has been edited by SilverFork on 19th October 2005 04:02 -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will.
