If I remember correctly, there are at least a couple of situations in FFT where you are asked a question and have to pick from a couple of answers. One of which is whether or not to give the Germinok Scriptures to some bad guys at a port city. I've always wondered. What is the difference in choosing between the choices? Does it affect the story any? Perhaps the battle that follows? Anyone know?

There are allot of places like that in the game. I've always noticed that they normaly they involve saving special characters. I can't speak for them all but I know it changes the goal in the battle that ensues when you first meet Algus. You can also skip saving Boco entirely depending on what you say. Other then that I can't remember, it has been a long time since I've had the proper cords to use my playstation.

The particular scene you mentioned is not a question of "will you give up the scriptures or not"... it is a question of "did you read them through or not". I don't know how this affects your party (it doesn't affect the game itself whatsoever), other than you get a smart remark from Malik if you respond that no, you have not read them yet. He tells you are a fool, and don't know what you have.
Lemme think..... the only other spot in the game that I can think of is on Mandalia Plains where you rescue Algus. You have a choice to save him or kill the Death Corps troops. If you choose to kill the soldiers, Algus can be knocked out and the fight doesn't end. If you choose to save him, though, then if he is knocked out then game over. Oh, also if you choose to kill the troops, you suffer a -3 brave penalty. The decision you make here affects the dialouge between you and Algus at Fort Zeakden, but that's about it. Oh, wait... there's one more. When you see the flower girl, buy the flower! -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

Yeah, Hamedo got just about every one that I could think of offhand. Just to throw the question out there, has anyone had 0 Gil and tried to buy the flower girl's 1-gil flower? I remember attempting it before, but I don't remember getting very far.
Oh, and if you choose to save Boco at Araguay woods, you'll get a +5 to your brave. Not that pivotal, but still a decision. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

Never tried the flower girl issue, but I suspect your current money is irrelevant (never noticed that my round number became something ending up in 9 after this event...)
The battle with Algus can land you a Brave +10 if you decide to wipe out the Death Corps (pretty nifty, considering it will land a permanent Br+2 on your entire party); you get nothing if you decide to save Algus. But for the battle with Boco, it's the other way around: if you decide NOT to save the poor bird, you will lose 10 Brave points...the other otion will not affect you Brave level. Another battle where your choice affects Brave is when you first meet Mustadio at Zaland Fort City: either choice will give you Brave points, but choosing the more heroic option (Save him! or something, I can't remember) will land you more Brave. I don't believe there are other instances in-battle, but some other stuff outside battle will affect other things: Possible spoilers: highlight to view The flower needs to be bought in order to get Cloud, and you must accept Beowulf's proposition in Lesalia in order to get various stuff, among which enter secret characters and rare equipment nowhere else to be found, like the Escutcheon II in Nelveska. |
